McCain Blames Bush For Osama's Escape
worldnetdaily.com ^ | January 7, 2008 | staff

Posted on 01/08/2008 8:15:30 AM PST by kellynla

GOP presidential candidate Sen. John McCain knocked President Bush for failing to capture Osama bin Laden despite "opportunities over the past six years, and vowed to "get" the terrorist kingpin if voters put him in the White House.

"I will get Osama bin Laden," McCain told a crowd of supporters at a New Hampshire town hall meeting Saturday – even if it takes following him "to the gates of hell."

"I want to assure you of that as president of the United States," he said.

On Sunday, McCain repeated the promise in an interview with NBC News anchor Tim Russert.

"I'll get him," he said on "Meet the Press."

Asked what he would do differently than Bush, McCain replied, "Well, first of all, I wouldn't have passed up some of the opportunities we passed up, such as Tora Bora."

Well, that tears it... Somebody needs to inform McCain that it was Clinton who was handed OBL on a silver platter and declined.

Was Bush also responsible for McCain’s capture?

I saw that “rally” outside City Hall. McCain looked so OLD. Totally clueless and brainless. Dementia setting in. Even screwed up his “drunken sailor” joke and every other line. No way he either gets the nomination or is elected.

The decision to stop and let the “locals” take Osama at Tora Bora was a political one.

And we all know what happens when politicians try to manage a war. (nothing good)

Unless of course it would require waterboarding to get the information on where Bin Laden is. Right, Johnny boy?

I love 20:20 hindsight...someone should tell the DevGru and Delta task force guys that McCain knows what to do. Give me a break.

Also, just what, exactly, is John McCain famous for besides losing his A-4 to enemy fire and being held as a POW by the NVA for 5 years? Before that he was at the bottom of his class at Annapolis and generally a carouser.

Since you've taken this course, the innocent will be punished with the guilty. There will be no liberty for any member of this crew for three months. I will not be made a fool of! Do you hear me?

Bush was also responsible for AMNESTY man crashing and burning in 2000. Keep the facts straight.

Sounds like the drive by media’s favorite maverick, an over the hill 71 year old has been who tried to slip in a new AMNESTY plan is getting a little testy in his old age.

Hey there! Nope. Didn't watch. I can't watch that claptrap. Schmuckabee drives me nuts. The questions are generally inane and usually calculated to entrap and the pandering drives me up a wall.

I find the format stilted and ridiculously formal. The only candidate that speaks from the heart and doesn't look rehearsed and like he has a stick up his bum, is Fred Thompson. All the others look like they need a laxative.

I fear a replay of Bob Dole w McCain — old, tired, worn out Rep candidate pitted against a young, energetic Dem opponent who, unfortunately, is also an ultraleftist. The Dem gets elected by a new, young and naieve electorate based on affability, looks, and charm, not experience, principles or policies.

He is trying to bolster his foreign policy and military strategist credentials. He suggested we needed more troops and that Rummy was wrong. I think the surge has far more to do with allowing the military to do their jobs as much as the number of troops. I think Petraeus understands very well how to conduct a counter-insurgency and this the biggest reason for the success in Iraq. Well, that and having the finest troops in the world to carry out his plan. :)

I was not criticizing McCain’s service record. He was a carrier pilot, enough said.

My statement concerns what he became famous for, and it is based on being shot down. That’s a fact. Also, his mediocre record at Annapolis is a fact, as is his involvement in the S&L debacle, the illegals debacle, and a host of other troubling things.

Stating unequivocally that he would get bin laden is absurd. His military service as a Navy pilot and his Senate record have no relevance to this issue.
