If GOP Runs a RINO for President, The Party Will Crash and Burn

If GOP Runs a RINO for President, The Party Will Crash and Burn By Jim Kouri

Republicans in Name Only, or RINOs, are a great asset to the Democrat Party and the news media. The liberals know they have little if any credibility, therefore when they wish to make a point they mention that Republicans also want what they want.

But by Republicans they mean RINOs. Democrats believe Iraq is another Vietnam? Well, so does Republican Senator Chuck Hagel. Democrats are fearful that a Justice Alito may overturn Roe v. Wade? Well, so does Republican Senators Arlen Specter, Olympia Snow and Lincoln Chaffee. The Democrats fear we might be “abusing” terrorists? Well so does Senator John McCain

Another example of RINOism is the breaking news by Matt Drudge and the New York Sun that after 10 years and over $23 million dollars the Independent Counsel investigation into Clinton Administration officials who may have used the IRS to intimidate or investigate threats to the Bill Clinton.

According to the Drudge Report, in Monday’s edition of the New York Sun, reporter Brian McGuire and contributor R. Emmett Tyrrell, Jr., gave readers a first look at the long-anticipated report from Independent Counsel David Barrett.

The Sun outlines the reports details surrounding the alleged illicit activity and cover up that involved former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Henry Cisneros before and during his time in the Clinton Administration.

The Sun revealed that the Barrett report connects the dots that allege that senior officials of the Clinton Administration initiated investigations by the IRS in both Texas and Washington. Also, there were investigations of a grand jury examining the independent counsel’s evidence.

The full report, more than 400 pages, with more than 100 pages of redacted material, hits the street on Thursday morning at 9 am. However, what’s in those 100 pages that we won’t see?

Democrats in the House and Senate have been fighting for months to block the release of the report and keep the 100 pages of highly damaging redacted material from ever seeing the light of day. That’s understandable since they are hypocrites of the first order. However, where are the Republican outcries over this continued cover-up?

I know many fear the FBI, CIA, NSA and Homeland Security Department and they have concerns about surveillance and civil liberties. But I am more concerned about the Internal Revenue Service, an agency that can lock up an American for decades because he or she didn’t fork over their hard earned money. If the President — any president — uses the IRS, which has more leeway than all the other agencies put together, to investigate, intimidate and perhaps incarcerate Americans, I for one want to know about it.

But I’m not holding my breath for the Republicans to demand the full Barrett Report be released without redaction.

The GOP is in a lot of trouble and that trouble has nothing to do with Tom DeLay or Jack Abramoff or Scooter Libby. The Republican Party is being co-opted by liberals who call themselves “moderates.”

When the GOP articulates conservative values and strategies for the future, they win elections. When they try to be Democrats, they lose. They may believe it’s the “wacky right-wing” that’s hurting their party, but it’s actually the “wacky left-wing” that may cost them their power in 2006. When conservatives get all fired up, armed with the truth they are unbeatable. But the GOP is doing little to get them fired up.

Sounds like an old political technique from the 90s, triangulation. But the different agencies of FedGov have long operated as if they are different countries, IOW, try to identify a government if it exists in fact.

The slow death of the Republican Party from RINO-itis is not good. We need a real conservative party as a replacement ASAP.

The party’s achilles heel or at least the conservative’s, was that a significant number of GOP senators are from liberal states and acted accordingly. There never was a republican conservative majority in the senate.

I am not concerned about the Republican Party, they can go the way of the Whigs for all I care. I am concerned about the country, in fact I am very concerned about the country. The worst thing that could happen to the country would be to elected Clinton or Obama, and I will support whomever is most likely to prevent that. Its too important to do otherwise.

Hate to quote your entire post, but it is all trenchant. I have predicted on FR since 2002 (when GWB was riding high) that he would destroy the conservative movement. He has, with accomplices who rationalize his liberal crap. And the accomplices no longer know what is or is not conservative.

That's as good a description as any of "Dark Ages", not even knowing how to do what one once did--or even remember that it CAN be done. And the GOP has entered those Dark Ages, not even knowing what those principles are, with GWB holding the door.

Do you remember one of the first debates when Duncan Hunter referred to some of his fellow candidates as , “THE KENNEDY WING OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY”?

The powers that be sure are intent on giving us a Rino, aren’t they? Hunter is out of the media coverage and the debates because he told the truth. CAN’T have that! Not to mention stopping discussion of China and immigration.

McCain, Huckabee, Rudy....look who they’re giving us...

I think we should start calling it exactly what it is, don’t you?

“THE KENNEDY WING OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY”

Arnold is certainly a perfect example.

Point taken. The trouble now is with the exception of two Republican Candidates, there is not much ideological difference in the choices. This will lead to a scenario similar to 1996, a week “moderate” Republican nominee with a probable Bloomberg and/or Paul 3rd party, enabling a Democrat victory.

Then the countries government moves way to the left.

I havn’t given up hope yet...We can still have a Conservative nominee.

George Bush was a mistake. I voted for him once. When he caved on ANWR and PNTR for China, I said I would never again vote for the accommodationist candidate, regardless of what letter followed his name. I would rather see a Democrat in the White House than a Democrat who calls himself a Republican.

If the GOP runs Rudy Giuliani or John McCain, Hillary Clinton will be the next president.

So do I.

Why would they? They are leftists themselves. There are conservatives in the Senate who might be able to hold the line, but it will be a herculean struggle. And we've got to do much, much more than just hold the line if we're going to get our country back.

I see eight years of trench warfare ahead.

It's hard to imagine a more retarded sentiment. I know Hillary or Obama will screw me 100% of the time, whereas a RINO might only do it 80% of the time.

Yet your sentiment is common at this forum.

You'd rather let someone like Hugo Chavez run this country than someone like Gerald Ford.
