RAMALLAH, West Bank (CNN) -- U.S. President George W. Bush met with Palestinian leaders in the West Bank on Thursday, predicting that a Middle East peace treaty would be signed by the time he leaves office.
Bush was holding talks with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and other top government officials.
"I am confident that with proper help, the state of Palestine will emerge," Bush said in a press conference Thursday with Abbas.
In his first visit to the region as president, Bush has admitted he hopes his presence will push the Israeli and Palestinian leaders along on the stalled process.
"If you're asking me, 'Am I'm nudging them forward?' -- well my trip was a pretty significant nudge," Bush said at a news conference Wednesday with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.

I thought you could...
Then it'll be legit.
[... holding breath ...]
Nah, never mind... All this in one year? Ha!
Okay so on the 15th of this month - the Philippines is giving part of their country to the Muslims in exchange for peace.
OH, YEAH, THAT'LL SATISFY 'EM. /dripping sarcasm
Appeasement = surrender.
This is George Bush’s ticket to a Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony.

Maybe he's suffering from AlGore envy?
Bush confident in ‘state of Palestine’
jorge is also confident in the mexican american United States as well.....
I'm beginning to think the man's brains have turned to mush.
This policy will not result in good, but quite the opposite.
Every elementary school child knows you can not create something from NOTHING. There never was a Palestine country.
Wishing will not work. Oh, change that, the Philippines just said they are going to create an “independent muslim holy land”.
What a waste of time, resources and capital.
Absolutely sickening.
Must of missed their parade for him, complete with burning the US flag.
This will all end badly for the world - it will usher in the End of Days.
However, it has been foretold.
That "peace treaty" will be signed for 7 years, and it will be broken half way through.
Daniel 9:27
Clarification to above - I am not saying Bush is the anitchrist or any such nonsense. I am not even saying this is THE peace treaty, but the Bible is clear there will be one in the end times.
Not a chance. I'm still waiting for Google Maps to recognize Israel.
Sigh, "You're either with us or against us" morphs into "legacy".
There is already a Palestinian State: The Gaza Strip.
Heaven on Earth . .
I hear ya. Talk about dysfunctional societies. When I heard "refugee camp" I was always figuring that these were a newish thing and then I found out they'd been there since WWII. Yikes! Millions on welfare since '45 and still sitting around on their butts.
And we're still kissing those butts.

Thanks, George, this is just pure genius. I’m ashamed of my voting record.
And now in 2008, people have the nerve to question me when I say I’ll not vote for any liberal GOP candidate?
Yes, Daniel penned what he penned, however, Christ said Matthew 24:22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened. Another place describes the end as labor pains and they do not take 7 years or even 31/2 years. Once labor pains enter the third stage it is delivery time.
End of Days is when Christ makes things right and that is NOT bad for anybody, unless you are against Christ.
Actually, the real Palestinian state is called Jordan.
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
Yeah, right, Bush. Others have tried. All have failed. Israel’s enemies will say that they want peace, then go right back to attacking and bombing.
Bush’s mistake is thinking that he’s dealing with normal, civilized human beings. He’s not. He’s dealing with murderous, fanatical Jew-hating savages who do not want peace.
“Clarification to above - I am not saying Bush is the anitchrist or any such nonsense. I am not even saying this is THE peace treaty, but the Bible is clear there will be one in the end times.”
If this treaty, if it happens, stipulates peace for seven years, then we’ll know.
I am for Christ.
But the End of Days is going to be a time of horrible suffering, pain, and torture for the entire world.
My heart grieves - as it should.
God is just. But I don't want justice - I am grabbing the hem of His garment, and marvel in His grace. If I asked for justice, I would get what I deserve.
What Google Map doesn’t show Israel?
Yes the end will cause many to beg for mountains to fall upon them because they are ashamed of the deception. That is the tribulation that has never been or will ever again allowed to take place. Christ said there would be wars and rumors of wars.... FEAR YE NOT. Now if we are not to be in FEAR of wars, the opposite would then be what ... PEACE, PEACE, PEACE when there would be no peace.
Have you ever experience the shame of being deceived, well if you have then consider that the majority of the Heavenly Father's children are going to be holy deceived. It was foretold by Christ Matthew 24:4, 5, and Paul even tell us more details IIThessalonians 2:9-12. All but the elect will be deceived.
For what? Doing the work of the anti-Christ against Israel. Yea some Legacy yes indeed.
Bush was also confidant In Cardinals Law,and Egan, and don’t forget he could look into the soul of Putin.
Three Zeroes.
If one accepts the idea that Bush is a globalist - I do - and that he is in favor of a North American Union - I do - then his insistence on a Palestinian state passes as pure hypocrisy.
I voted for him twice, and, given the alternatives at the time, would again. But, at home, he is for the deletion of the concept of statehood in North America, with his support of open borders, amnesty, and the NAU. Who is he, then, to demand the creation of an artificial border of a separate state in the Middle East?
It seems he should demand the free flow of human tides across the Israeli border, as he does at home. Let him answer that.
