Assyrians for 3,000 years or so, Christians for nearly 2,000. Their capital city, Essur, was a center of Christian scholarship and missionary endeavor during the first millennium AD. I believe it was Assyrian missionaries who took the gospel to Korea, and helped them create their alphabet.
