WINTER HAVEN, Fla. -- A Winter Haven man was charged with murder, accused of fatally beating his 4-month-old daughter because he wanted a son, authorities said.
Marcos Gomez-Romero, 28, told investigators that he beat Ariana Rodriguez Romero to death because did not want a daughter, according to a Polk County Sheriff's Office report.
Gomez-Romero told investigators that the beatings had gone on for months, the sheriff's report stated.

Just think of the recent headlines: Man Beats Daughter to Death Because He Wanted Son, Man Tosses Four Children Off Bridge After Fight with Common-law Wife, Man Shoots Teenaged Daughters for Dating Against His Will, Woman Drowns Her Five Children, Woman Drowns Son if Reservoir Then Claims Assailant Kidnapped Them, Wife Shoots Husband for Sneaking Look at Christmas Present, Father and Brother Beat Woman to Death for Marrying Outside Faith, ad infinitum ad nauseum. Truly this is a time when the love of man is waxing cold. Family members seems to be just accessories du jour to be disposed of when they become inconvenient, embarrassing or out of style.

The injuries were horrific —
An autopsy done the next day showed the baby had five new left rib fractures, eight old left rib fractures - some of the old fractures were in two places - and seven old right rib fractures.
She also had a bruised liver, a hematoma and laceration on her spleen, a hemorrhage in her left eye, a bruise on her shoulder blade, a hemorrhage to a back muscle and bruising on each side of her mouth.

That’s Right, Americans never murder their children.
I don’t see where that is an issue. Legal or illegal this crime is beyond cruelty. The only difference is if he is illegal he could be deported. Though I normally would be for that. It must be remembered that Mexico and most Central and South American countries do not have the death penalty. I don’t know what penalty he would face in his country of birth. But if it is less than having his gonads chewed on by rabid weasels he is getting off lightly.
If the DA goes for the death penalty keep the bastard here and fry his ass ASAP. Otherwise deport him to the middle of the Atlantic ocean sans life boat.

Looks like even here women are most often murdered by a close acquaintance, probably many at their own home too.
I imagine the “violence” incidents are much more skewed than the murder rates.
