INDIANAPOLIS -- Andre Carson, the grandson of late U.S. Rep. Julia Carson, was chosen Saturday as the Democratic nominee for a March special election to determine who will serve out the rest of her congressional term.
Carson won 223 of the 439 votes cast by Democratic precinct committee members for eight candidates seeking the nomination for the March 11 special election for the 7th District.
"We did it! Thank God, we did it!" he shouted after bounding onto the stage after the results were announced.
Carson got 100 more votes than the runner-up, State Rep. David Orentlicher.
Carson, a member of Marion County's City-County Council, said that if elected, his priorities will be to withdraw troops from Iraq as soon as possible and make people more important than big money. He called his victory a grass-roots triumph.
"The people spoke out. We went door to door. We called. We met with ward chairs and precinct committee people," Carson said. "That's what it's all about."
Julia Carson, a six-term Democrat, died Dec. 15 after a battle with lung cancer. She had represented the district, which covers most of Indianapolis, since 1997.
As with Keith Ellison, it will be a slow but strategic effort to infect our democratic system with muzzies. Ingnorance is no excuse but, the willingness of the msm to ignore such relevant facts is complicity....
Carson just got elected to the City Council. It’s his only political experience. His only qualification is that his name is Carson.
And with that comes those votes that always appear late, late in the night.
go to bed, she’d be down 20% wake up, she’s won by 30
Put him on the intel committee, one by one they get in.
No surprise, since the lead Muslim, Obama, is getting massive support from the Democrat Party.
Nice !
A nice electoral target !
Good shot
“He is the product of Julia Carson. She reared him, and she put an awful lot of nutrients in that little flower pot,” Jacobs said.
Another fine example of the breakdown of the family unit in the African American community. What are his qualifications other than being from the heavily black 7th District. All he will need to do now is join the Congressional Black Caucus aka the do nuthin gang. And he will have a job for life.

While his grandmother may have been a nice person, she was an absolute nut job. Her plan to reduce crime in Indianapolis: Get rid of lead paint. She says that poor people eat more lead paint that non-poor people and that explains it. Yeah, sure it does. Just like all of their other problems, it's never their fault. My guess is that her grandson is also a nut job, only inexperienced and a Muslim to boot.
Perhaps we need a law where a persons direct descendants can not run for your seat until at least one other person has occupied in it.
We are heading down the path towards a hereditary dictatorship.
As long as a Carson holds that seat its still really Andy Jacobs seat.
Julia did some good things when she was young, then Jacobs turned her into a token ( yep I said It ), and its been that way ever since.
He pompously crawls out of Evansville a few times a year and pontificates to the Indy Media, talking down to the rest of us.
If Andre wins this seat he may have to make a decision.."Do I obey Master Farakahn or Master Jacobs?"
Didn’t lots of kids play with lead-painted toys, and live in houses with lead paint, in the past, and survive? We act like it’s some brand-new evil.
Yes, but that doesn't fit in with the "It's-your-fault-not-my-fault-so-you-should-pay-me" mentality that Jesse and Al always serve up.
BTW, neither Jesse or Al earned the right to have the title "Rev." before their names...I wish the MSM would abide by that fact.
So they have ginned-up Reverend titles? I didn’t know that.
By the way, Andre Carson will have a Republican opponent, Jon Elrod, in the special election. Wish him luck.
Yes. Jesse did finished college and went to Chicago Theological Seminary, but dropped out his first year. Al never even went to college. He was "ordained" at age 10 by a preacher in Washington, DC. At one time, AL was a body guard for Don King, the fight promoter. Great credentials for sitting on the most powerful economic committee on the planet. Some people...well...just read my tag line.
For reasons I don't understand, the MSM never bothered to check.
