Wow.
Wow ...in spite of global warming!
lol
That, is a lot of Koreans.
Regards
Heres a link to some pictures of the contest in my neck of the woods. This year we expect about 13,000 people and we’ll give away about $190,000.00 in prizes. All the profits go to charity.

One might think with that many holes in the ice so close together it might act like perforated material and tear along the dotted line. SPLOOSH!
Nevermind, I’m just tired. G’nite FR.
That is awesome. Thanks for posting that.
That was my thought too, that ice must be thick. My second thought was that if it was that cold in South Korea, the people in the north must be suffering.
Very difficult as starving North Koreans swim south and steal thier bait.
Koreans love fishing, that’s for sure.

The Hwacheon Sancheoneo Ice Festival draws nearly a million visitors every year.
I need to get up there. I am way too far south for that kind of freeze. This is my second winter in Korea and I haven’t seen snow down here since I’ve been here.

Question?
How many are for sport and how many for food? Who let the dogs out?
The result: the places are as crowded as cities they left for the recreation. You even meet a lot of friends you haven't seen for quite a while.:-)
Pretty much the same on Taiwan at the lakes and stocked ponds. There are ‘fishing ponds’ that are basically semi-outdoor pubs(bring your own or buy it there) with some food that have a stocked tank or pond for fishing with your buddies. But there is a lot of coastline for fishing that not crowded.
There are some brave(and foolish) souls who do fishing at the rocks in the middle of sea. Surging wave of moderate size can sweep them off the rock and they won’t be seen again. There is a charter service by small fishing boats in which they drop off these fishing maniacs at their favorite rock and come back to pick him up later. Sometimes their customer is no longer seen.

A swatter for "fly" fishing?
Those fish don’t have a chance!
I get Japanese channel NHK on my cable service. They have several fishing progs on there. Man...thos Japanese fishermen/women really get kitted out with gear. Special vests, gloves, electronic reels. I imagine they are supplied by advertisers to feature their equipment. A lot of shore line fishing and a lot of what looks like fishing charter boat episodes.
Where’s Waldo-san?
Wow, I go offshore fishing from south east Florida for tuna and sailfish and dolphin sometimes weighing 80 pounds or more.
These folks seem giddy about getting about a 5 ounce fish?
In 1966-’67 when we went on bivouac I’d often get the duty to run supplies. Took a “Deuce and a half” back to Camp Red Cloud and would make a side trip to the PX to purchase Fried Chicken and French Fries. Really good stuff! I’d always get enough to have leftovers, roll up the top of the paper bag and set them beside my cot in the snow to keep. I’d later (next day) heat ‘em up by putting the bag on top of the oil burning stove in the tent. It was very cold over there, a big refrigerator/freezer. We were quite close to the DMZ at that location.
