Its pretty amusing reading a leftwingnut whining about the NYT looking to make a profit...perfectly sums up how ill prepared a leftwinger is when it comes to economics 101.

Yes, it’s certainly funny, especially that bit about hanging Kristol from a lamp post. I’m sure he’ll enjoy that.

But it’s also a bit sad. Basically, what this Public Editor or Ombudsman says is, “Hey, calm down and be rational! I wouldn’t have hired this jerk. It was a mistake, sure, but it was a well intentioned mistake! And, yes, he did betray the Glorious Freedom of the Press by suggesting that the Times should be prosecuted for leaking vital national secrets to the enemy in wartime. That was very naughty of him to say that!

But still, guys, be rational! Be LIBERAL! (And maybe in due course we can fix this stupid mistake of hiring this Nazi ogre! But far be it from me to criticize the Boss for making the mistake of hiring him.)

The Times could have saved themselves about 50 grand a year if they just sent an office boy over to the White House to pick up the press releases

The Times could save a lot more than that by just sending the office boy over to DNC headquarters to get the talking points.

I’m still trying to figure out why Kristol debased himself by taking the offer from the NY Times. It’s like buying stock in a slide-rule manufacturing company in 1972.

This is not a person I would have rewarded with a regular spot in front of arguably the most elite audience in the nation.

Yes...arguably. I'm laughing at the superior intellect.

How brave of the New York Times to stand its ground against a firestorm of controversy for hiring a conservative columnist ... what commitment to intellectual diversity.

“He May Be Unwelcome,”

Why would he be unwelcome?

Kristol (Bill’s dad, Irving) suggests of himself, “Ever since I can remember, I’ve been a neo-something: a neo-Marxist, a neo-Trotskyist, a neo-liberal, a neo-conservative; in religion a neo-orthodox even while I was a neo-Trotskyist and a neo-Marxist. I’m going to end up a neo-that’s all, neo dash nothing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irving_Kristol

Of the nearly 700 messages I have received since Kristol’s selection was announced — more than half of them before he ever wrote a word for The Times — exactly one praised the choice.

Rosenthal’s mail has been particularly rough...

Does this not describe the homogeneity of the liberal hive? 699 out of 700 NY Times readers are rabid liberals who talk with, read and listen to only other rabid liberals.

The benighted inhabitants of the liberal echo chamber never hear a discouraging word...

Hoyt faulted the Bush administration for curtailing access and punishing journalists who dare question spoon-fed conservative talking points.

“Washington is at war with itself,” he said. “The mainstream media is caught in the crossfire.

“Not since Vietnam and Watergate have relations between the government and the press been as strained as they are now,” he added. “Powerful forces are very much against our getting the truth and printing it.”
