Actor Brad Renfro, whose career began promisingly with a childhood role in "The Client" but rapidly faded as he struggled with drugs and alcohol, was found dead Tuesday in his home. He was 25.

Paramedics pronounced him dead at 9 a.m., said Craig Harvey, chief investigator for the Los Angeles County coroner's office. The cause of death was not immediately determined, Harvey said, but an autopsy could be conducted as early as Wednesday.

Renfro had reportedly been drinking with friends the evening before his death, Harvey said.

Renfro's lawyer, Richard Kaplan, said he did not know whether the death was connected to any problems with addiction.

When you don’t have a good foundation, the tides and the floods will destroy you.

Did you see the pic of him being cuffed by police? He looks years older than 25.

... cause of death was not immediately determined, ...

Perhaps the proximate cause hasn't been determined, but the real cause is our culture burned up another one. It is easy to OD on fame and fortune.

Weird. I just watched Ghost World (2001), which has Brad Renfro in it.

Wow. He was great in the “Client”. He chose to waste his God-given talent and waste his life, what a tragedy.

Yeah, it’s nebulous ‘hollywood’s’ fault. No wait, Bush’s fault.

Nope. its their own fault. Maybe tack on the fault of their parents for not preparing them properly to handle things right. I feel bad for him because he just threw away his life.

God bless him and prayers for his family. Addiction is the one of the nastiest diseases - cunning and baffling - and I know too many people who have died from this. Prayers also out to all the suffering alcoholics and addicts.

Reminds me of the song Hotel California: “You can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave”

Ah, that’s a shame. 25 is way too young to be leaving this life. Talented actor, too - he was very good in Bully.

Hotel California was written to describe the ominous undercurrent of frightening material success and fame as The Eagles experienced it in '70s.

The young actors COULD have chose to have real jobs too...it’s not a forced labor scenario...

His parents divorced when he was 6. He lived with his grandmother in TN when he was discovered and cast in the very successful film "The Client" at age 11 or 12 making six films over the next four years.

How much choice did he really have? Was he afforded the guidance critical to an adolescent suddenly the Hollywood spotlight? From how his life turned out, I'd say it doesn't look like it.

Well this looks like a victory for our beloved Freeper Liberal-tarians.

After all he was just exercising his choice.
