Thanks for your insight. Your post essentially nailed what I was trying to say. I have to admit I had never seen such an extensive behind-the-scenes footage of an anchor or general newscaster. You can't do everything but surely one is going to fail at such a job if there isn't at least a reasonable amount of self-study. The up-to-the-minute data of course she needs to be fed but...well you know what I'm saying.

I was here then but it’s great to revisit those days. I remember seeing a post here the morning after the 60 Minutes show. I decided to try the experiment myself so I printed out one of the CBS fabrications then retyped it in Microsoft Word. I don’t have a copier so I went to the Post Office and recopied the thing about six times until it matched the CBS memo. At lunch I passed around the two “documents” at a table with about six guys I know. They were flabbergasted.
