SAN FRANCISCO, January 15, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A new medical study appearing in the Annals of American Medicine shows that homosexuals are spreading a new, highly-infectious flesh-eating bacteria amongst themselves, most probably through anal intercourse.
The bacterium, called MRSA USA300, is impervious to front-line antibiotics and can only be treated with rarer drugs, primarily Vancomycin. Researchers say that the bug, which is a type of staphylococcus, is primed to develop immunity to that drug as well.
Infected patients may have inflammation, abscesses, and tissue loss in the affected areas. Although the bacterium does not literally "eat" the body, it manufactures toxins that can cause "necrosis" - the death of surrounding tissue.
The study's authors note that the strong link between unhealthy behavior, particularly among homosexuals, is the driving force behind the disease. "Spread of the USA300 clone among men who have sex with men is associated with high-risk behaviors, including use of methamphetamine and other illicit drugs, sex with multiple partners, participation in a group sex party, use of the internet for sexual contacts, skin-abrading sex, and history of sexually transmitted infections," the authors write.
"The same patterns of increased sexual risk behaviors among men who have sex with men - which have resulted from changes in beliefs regarding HIV disease severity with the availability of potent antiretroviral therapy - have been driving resurgent epidemics of early syphilis, rectal gonorrhea, and new HIV infections in San Francisco, Boston, and elsewhere," add the researchers.
The study, which focused on clinics in the San Francisco area, found that in some cases up to 39% of patients had the MRSA USA300 infections in their genitals or buttocks, although the disease can be spread by general skin-to-skin contact and can even be picked up from surfaces.
Observing that "Infection with multidrug-resistant USA300 MRSA is common among men who have sex with men," the study timidly concludes that "multidrug-resistant MRSA infection might be sexually transmitted in this population," and counsels "further research."
It is estimated that in San Francisco's Castro District, which has the highest concentration of homosexuals in the country, the infection rate is 1 in every 588 residents. One in every 3,800 residents of San Francisco are infected. Homosexuals are 13 times more likely to be infected than others in the city.
The disease is not only spreading in San Francisco, but also Boston, New York and Los Angeles. In addition to homosexuals, people who are ill or have weakened immune systems are particularly susceptible. MRSA and other types of staphylococcus bacteria, often spread in hospitals, kill more than 19,000 Americans each year, a rate higher than deaths due to AIDS.
Peter LaBarbara, president of Americans for Truth About Homosexuality, is hoping that the revelation of yet another homosexual epidemic will have an impact on the public's perception of homosexual behavior. "I think that the media, and Hollywood, and a lot of our policy makers and certainly academia are in a world of 'let's pretend' with regard to homosexual behavior and its consequences," he told LifeSiteNews. "They don't want to focus on the special risks that homosexual behavior, especially between men, have in the public health arena, and issues like this keep coming up."
However, LaBarbara acknowledges that the major media will "invariably spin things in a homosexual direction."
"We saw the identical thing happen 25 years ago with the reporting on AIDS," he said, "but ironically the whole AIDS crisis strengthened the homosexual lobby in this country."

Interesting statement...
and it is spread though anal sex!
Excuse my crudeness, but it seems like this infection would make ones petter drop off and give you a very sore rear end.
Yikes!

And end game, for sure.

Is that not the grossest headline you ever saw?
What disgusting perverts these queers are.....yuck!
This headline is soooooo gross!
Changes the meaning of the phrase “got a bug up his butt”, doesn’t it?
flesh-eating MRSA bacteria is homophoblic
Gee, that's too bad.
One has to wonder how many millions our idiot government is going to spend on this preventable disease instead of spending it on heart disease and cancer, which are going to do most of us in.
Yep, my sympathy goes out to them. hmmmmmm
I have to wonder if this new bacteria isn't directly related to AIDS, gays and the drug cocktails they take. And how many new "drug resistant" diseases will come about just from trying to keep people with AIDS alive.
given the nature of the problem, would that be so far fetched?
I'm sure they'll take a wide stance on it.
Welp, it ain’t like we don’t already know that fudge is loaded with bacteria.
Now, it seems to me that this would have the effect of making the risky (actually disgusting) behavior impossible. Why isn't this self-limiting?
What were homosexuals expecting.... roses?
This is also the fault of the medical community that fails to warn the population that *this will happen* because it is not PC to do so. It’s our own fault too, we tolerate homosexual freedoms because we are Christians and we try to be too understanding to a fault, and this is what we get. I am not surprised, just thoroughly disgusted.
The mere fact of causing necrosis does not qualify MRSA as "flesh-eating" any more than a yellow-jacket sting which can also cause necrosis.
Life Site News ought to be more responsible in their choice of words, and not go out of their way to make themselves look like idiots. The awful conditions caused by MRSA are plenty bad without ruining one's credibility with foolish, obviously false headline words. It reads like the Weekly World News.
Especially in an article which purports to demonstrate the irresponsible statements of the gay community with regard to this scourge. Pot, meet kettle.
Now, back to the regularly-scheduled buggery, fudge-packing, and other "probing" comments...
Nothing to see here... big daddy gub’ment gotta tell me whether I can eat trans fats or smoke a cigar, on the outside chance of risking my health... but behaviors such as gay sex, which is a definite way to spread AIDS aand many other diseases, costing our health care and legal systems TRILLIONS... gotta be PC and not invade privacy or offend the alternative lifestyle. Why, hand out clean needles too so when they are injecting illegal heroin (with tacit approval of the government) they don’t inadvertently hurt themselves.
Let ‘em have at it, thin out the herds of pinko liberals - just don;t ask the taxpayer to save you from your own behaviors - you made the choice now live and die with it.
filthy disease ridden queers destroying society...
Just checkin'... you DO feel exactly the same way about tobacco smokers and alcohol drinkers and red-meat eaters, right? No taxpayer dollars for smokers' and drinkers' and red-meat-eaters' illnesses, like cancer, cirrhosis, heart disease? They all make their own choices, and can live and die with it.
(It happens, being of the libertarian persuasion, I DO feel exactly that way. I'm just making sure I understand your statement, and that we agree.)
How disgusting. Are they going to teach this to the 2nd graders in Massachusetts along with the rest of it?
Actually, if this article is at all correct, they're mostly destroying themselves and their own sub-culture. If heteros can restrain themselves from crossing over, shouldn't this scourge stay pretty much within the gay sector? It's not like anybody is going to "accidentally" bugger or be buggered without realizing it.

Don't you know that such speech is a VIOLATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS? Aren't you aware of the fact that you are stepping dangerously close to committing a HATE CRIME? Better not say these words in the Faggot Republic of New Jersey. They'll lock your butt up for sure.
they are siphoning off money that could be better used elsewhere...
“The study’s authors note that the strong link between unhealthy behavior, particularly among homosexuals”
Is there anything they do that IS healthy?
See my comment #31 above -- I don't think my tax dollars should be spent underwriting or curing the effects of ANYONE'S foolish lifestyle choices. That includes smokers, drinkers, etc. I think as a society we could use a massive healthy dose of:
1. Responsibility for our own actions, and
2. Lower taxes
The message is being sent repeatedly, but it's not being received.....
“I have to wonder if this new bacteria isn’t directly related to AIDS, gays and the drug cocktails they take.”
You don’t need to wonder. They are walking, talking, bio-reactors.
The plumbing is not being correctly used, this is one of the consequences of equipment misuse. The behavior needs to stop.
With regards to taxpayer money, if you can tie a specific behavior to the disease, yes.
That said, it is in the realm of possibility that cancer, cirrhosis, and heart disease are genetic or age-related, correct? So those cannot be painted with the same broad brush in my opinion. But without question AIDS and certain other diseases, you cannot contract genetically/without an external influence, which in almost all cases today are caused by sexual contact.
I sent your comments to LifeSite News. We’ll see if they do some fact-checking and correct their article.
Gay State Senator Jarret Barrios wanted to ban Fluffernutter sandwiches in public schools.
Well, I guess we can look for billions of our tax dollars to go for research, etc. on yet another disease spread by homosexuals.
Okay, thanks.
They had a weak disclaimer buried in the body of the article ("Although the bacterium does not literally 'eat' the body, it manufactures toxins that can cause 'necrosis' - the death of surrounding tissue"), so my gripe was mainly about the uber-sensationalist headline.
Thus, "flesh-eating" does imply "necrosis", but "necrosis-causing" does NOT imply "flesh-eating", since the latter is a very specific type of strep infection.
Last time I checked, smokers are more than paying their fair share into the government coffers.
All diseases have contributory factors that include direct (organic), environmental, and behavioral. My comment was to the effect that if the prior poster wanted to cut tax-funding for research for a disease that was spread mainly by gay behavior, then we should also cut tax-funding of diseases that are similarly spread mainly by other "disapproved" behaviors. Nothing is 100% behavioral, of course, which is the subtext of my reply.
And it's not 100% sure that A will cause B, or that B was caused by A. It's possible, though less likely, to get this staph infection without engaging in anal sex; just as it's possible, though less likely, to get lung cancer without spending 20 years as a heavy smoker.
I don't "approve" of any of these dangerous behaviors, but that doesn't mean I'm willing to criminalize them. I just wish people took responsibility for the consequences of their actions.
I have an occasional shot of tequila, which some folks consider dangerous, but I'm the one who suffers the consequences and I take responsibility for dealing with them.
If you mean the high price of cigarettes, I couldn't agree more. I consider myself lucky in that I quit 30 years ago and haven't bought smokes since (except as a gift for friends who smoke). When I quit, a retail carton was around $8, as I recall.
BTW, I hope that "coffers" was an unintentional pun. It's still too early in the morning to make puns like that on purpose. ;-)
Wait a minute, those are lifestyle diseases, didn’t you know? If you made better choices about diet and smoking and exercise you wouldn’t have a problem. Now shut up while we pour billions into a vaccine for this disease which has taken so many of our young people...>s off
