HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) - Democrat Barack Obama says he won't just be a president for the American people, but the animals too. "What about animal rights?" a woman shouted out during the candidate's town hall meeting outside Las Vegas Wednesday after he discussed issues that relate more to humans, like war, health care and the economy.
Obama responded that he cares about animal rights very much, "not only because I have a 9-year-old and 6-year-old who want a dog." He said he sponsored a bill to prevent horse slaughter in the Illinois state Senate and has been repeatedly endorsed by the Humane Society.
"I think how we treat our animals reflects how we treat each other," he said. "And it's very important that we have a president who is mindful of the cruelty that is perpetrated on animals."

Like President HW Bush, I have always supported the right of broccoli plants to live out their natural span undisturbed by misguided veggie cooks. Same for cauliflower. Whoever found out you could eat the stuff must have been pretty hungry.
Eegad! Missed that one. If they were slaughtering horses, or anything else, in the Illinois State Senate, I would certainly support anyone who tried to put a stop to it.

I support the legalization of beastiality. But only for certain animals (ie, the Panther, the Polar Bear, the Great White Shark), and then let darwinism take it’s course. ;-)
I think you’re onto something here. An orgy with the local sharks might be just the ticket for Guantanamo inmates and eco-whackies could easily be persuaded to go for polar bears; save the planet and all.

I never knew what "Empty Suit" really meant til I read that.
Too bad there wasn’t an informed person in the audience that could have asked Mr. Obama if he is happy with what is happening to all of the horses that can no longer be humanely slaughtered? Hmmmmmm?? Laws have consequences ... sometimes unintended ones.

You might have mistyped Demo(cat)... But I read the rest of what you said as you put a sticker ON her cat... So it must be contagious!
But what part of the Constitution are they covered under?
If you like to hunt or fish, the Humane Society is your enemy.
And she’s a long-hair, too. It would be no fun getting the sticker off.
