Fred Thompson Gets Mad

By Joel Achenbach PROSPERITY, S.C. -- You rarely see Fred Thompson get too riled about anything, but steam was near about shooting from his ears today when he heard at a campaign stop that some of his supporters had received "push poll" calls from a group supporting Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee.

I was there. It was more than “a dozen” hands raised, more like 30 from where I was sitting.

I won’t speak ill of my fellow Republicans, but I will freely criticize the Huckster.

I don’t think these calls work. I know they don’t, actually. But Huck’s campaign is really amateur hour, so I guess it’s better they spend their money on this rather than stuff that does work. Like mail.

So Huckster and his God-awful campaign is at it again, with bottom-of-barrel campaign techniques.

Sad, and what’s worse, we have people fall for it.

I will because I don’t think he is really a Republican unless the definition of Republican means lax on crime, illegal immigrations and adding new taxes.

Huckabee’s campaign: if that’s how they run things, why in world would anyone vote for that sleazy, cheating, Carterwannabe? Hmmm...think I’ll change his name to Wannabee.

Huckabee, as some of us have been pointing out, is a dirty snakeoil salesman. He’s at least two cuts below a used car salesman. There’s few things worse than a man who spouts Bible quotations while lying through his teeth and taking bribes.

He is assuming that he can get away with this kind of dirty trick because the time is short. By the time it comes out, it’s on to the next state and the next dirty trick.

Let’s hope he’s wrong. Unfortunately, the media will downplay or ignore this. I notice this is a Washington Compost Blog, and I doubt whether any of the TV channels will mention this, because they badly want Fred to lose. And conservatives don’t normally visit a Washington Compost blog.

You expect class from a man who solicits wedding presents after 20 years of marriage?
Huckabee is the dregs of the GOP.
If he’s on the ticket, we lose.

Ironic thing is, this kind of thing pisses off Fred and will him in the race. He knows it will ultimately fail, if not in a week, it will in a month.

Tick, tick, tick, the clock ticks for the Huckster, with every breath and word his foolishness becomes known to more and more people.

“Sad, and what’s worse, we have people fall for it.”

Thats because the people who support The Huckster are the same type of people who like Jim Bakker, Jimmy Swaggart and Benny Hinn.

Huckabee is a piece of crap.

If he is the nominee, I won’t vote for him.

Its about time he got mad. He needs to take it up directly with whomever. This not paid for by any canidate is pure BS. If its Huck he needs to come out against it. At somepoint it will come down to just one nominee and he will need all the help he can get in the GE.

All this Huckabee stuff has an Ed Rollins smell. He is ahead
of Fred. Sleeze can work and Rollins knows it all.

I don’t even pick up calls like this. We got calls on our answering machine from Dems during the ‘06 campaign, but never from Republicans.

He was starting to fall below Fred when he started this and bounced back.
