Answering Fred's Call [David Limbaugh endorses Fred Thompson]
davidlimbaugh.com ^ | 1/17/08 | David Limbaugh

Posted on 01/17/2008 7:17:00 PM PST by Yaelle

Commentators are citing the unpredictability of the Republican primary contests as proof that Reagan conservatism is dead when precisely the opposite conclusion is warranted.

The main reason the conventional wisdom is being shattered in the primaries is that conservative voters, so far, have not been persuaded there is an electable, reliable conservative in the race.

But as I've stated before, I believe Fred Thompson is a reliable, consistent conservative. There are others in the field I could support, but not without some reservations. The more I learn about Fred and observe him in action, the more convinced I become that he's the right choice. /snip

Rush has already endorsed him without endorsing him, though sometimes he makes it seem as though he has a hedge with Romney as well.

Maybe Rush, as he lets his audience read between his lines, might tomorrow enlarge his font a little?? Maybe underline??

After all, doesn’t Rush know that the people in Rio Linda love him too, and might need a little help?!

He should say it like this:

“Folks, my policy has been to never endorse a candidate during the primaries. But I will say that IF I were to endorse a candidate, it would be Fred Thompson. Now, this is not an endorsement, but if I were to give an endorsement of any candidate, that’s who it would be for.”

;-)

He could also make it like apparently Mark Levin did today (we don't get his show until 9pm in L.A.), and say that if he were a South Carolina voter, he'd be voting for Fred Thompson on Saturday.

BEAUTIFULLLLLLL!

By the way, I heard tonight that Fred is going to be on the Michael Reagan show for ONE FULL HOUR tomorrow evening! I don't think MR has endorsed Thompson, but what else would you call giving the guy a full hour on his show the night before the SC election?

I would love to see them exit poll this question: "Do you listen to talk radio." I'd like to see how the vote of talk radio listeners breaks down.

GO FRED, GO!

YES! YES! YES! YES!

FRED THOMPSON - NATIONAL SECURITY EXPERIENCE (I’ll protect the American people and American values, whatever it takes to stop the Islamic-Fascists including water-boarding!) - 2ND AMENDMENT ADVOCATE (“Individual” rights to protect their homes and property!)

INCREASE THE MILITARY’S STRENGTH AND SIZE (Diplomacy through Strength and verification!)

SECURE AND SEAL THE BORDERS (Don’t give sanctuary anywhere to illegal’s; don’t employ illegal’s; don’t rent to illegal’s; don’t extend credit to illegal’s; don’t give illegal’s rights they have no right to; report all crimes committed by illegal’s to ICE and immediately deport those illegal’s who have already committed crimes against America!) LAW AND ORDER (Enforcement of our current laws regarding illegal immigration!) – DENY FEDERAL DOLLARS TO SANCTUARY CITIES (Enough is enough!)

CONSERVATIVE JUSTICES FOR SUPREMES (Great progress has been made on the Supreme Court in Bush’s term. FRED was asked by President Bush to spirit Justice Roberts through the confirmation process. The next President will probably have the opportunity to seat two additional Justices. This is huge folks. FRED will nominate Justices who will interpret the Constitution, not create rights that simply do not exist and legislate from the bench!) – PRO-LIFE ADVOCATE (will strive to nominate superior Justices with the eventual goal of overturning Roe vs Wade)

THOMPSON PLAN TO REDUCE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SPENDING (Check out his detailed plan to reduce Federal spending!)

SOCIAL SECURITY REFORMER (Social Security is an entitlement program that will soon overtake the budget. The program can’t sustain itself and will bankrupt future generations; FRED has detailed proposals to save Social Security and provide the added benefit of private savings accounts for younger workers!)

DEFEAT ANY DEMOCRAT OR RINO (Close your eyes and imagine the first debate between FRED THOMPSON and ANY liberal DemocRAT they put up?)

TAX SIMPLIFICATION (Reform and perhaps eliminate the IRS with a variety of choice for the tax payer!)

EDUCATION (Return education to the States. It is that simple. The NEA is the greatest enemy of our educational system!)

WON’T PUT UP WITH TRUTH MANIPULATION FROM THE DB-MSM (including stupid questions by liberal moderators, and “purchased” political pundits)

FRED THOMPSON IS THE “WE THE PEOPLE” CANDIDATE (We the People asked him to set aside his personal life and step up one more time for his Country…and he stepped up!)

THIRD IN IOWA, SECOND IN WYOMING (MSM still calling it a tie with McCain’s name in the lead…FoxNews won’t even mention his name if they can find a way to avoid it!)

TOTAL DELIGATES TO DATE: 6

WINNER OF SOUTH CAROLINA JANUARY 10, 2008 DEBATE – HANDS DOWN!!! (In lieu of the airtime FoxNews chose to give him…or not give him as the case may be. WE THE PEOPLE notice garbage like that!)

IT’S NOT TOO LATE FOR SOUTH CAROLINA! IT’S NOT TOO LATE FOR FLORIDA! IT’S NOT TOO LATE FOR NEVADA!

IT IS TIME FOR REAGAN CONSERVATIVES TO COME OUT OF THE WALLS AND WOODWORK AND UNITE NOW BEHIND THE ONLY TRUE STANDARD BEARER FOR REAGAN CONSERVATISM! A CONSERVATIVE THOMPSON REVOLUTION! PLEASE STOP BY FRED08.COM AND STUDY HIS WHITE PAPERS ON ALL THE MAJOR ISSUES!

I have a feeling Rush will stick to his guns and only hint at Fred. I agree that he seems to be hedging his bet with Mitt, who is leading in delegates. Perhaps after Super Tuesday Rush will be a little more direct, until then I just don’t think he is going to risk being wrong by getting behind a loosing candidate.

Maybe Rush, as he lets his audience read between his lines, might tomorrow enlarge his font a little?? Maybe underline??

No, he needs to stop tiptoeing around the tulips and flat out endorse Fred in no uncertain terms. Rush has a lot of influence with Republicans and this election is so critically important that he needs to make full use of that influence if he cares about keeping conservatism alive and well in the GOP and the US as a whole. If that POs a segment of his audience and they stop listening, so what, they will come back once the election is over and Rush's ratings will go higher than ever.

Time is growing short, and Fred is still trailing badly in the polls in spite of being the only electable conservative in the race while so many Republicans are loudly bewailing the revival of country club liberalism in the GOP. That situation makes no sense and is totally inexplicable IMHO, but there it is anyway. If you want a conservative Republican nominee Rush there is only one viable choice and you know it, namely Fred Thompson. So get behind him and stop complaining about the dearth of conservative candidates in the race.

OK, I know that Hunter is still in the race and that he has been a more reliably conservative Congressman than Fred was as Senator. But as shown by his 1% poll rating, Hunter is practically unknown to Republican voters outside of southern CA even after months of campaigning, and it's way too late now to do anything about that. Sorry to say, but he isn't going to be president, not this time anyway.

If Rush wants to ever make his popularity and influence count for good to conservatives and to the nation itself, the time for that is now. If Fred is NOT the GOP nominee it is an absolutely certainty that a LIBERAL PRESIDENT will be sworn in next January no matter whether he or she has a R or a D after his/her name. So com'on Rush, you know how critically important this election is, just do it!

Yes! He would not want to endorse someone who MIGHT not win. However, if he wants US to look for and vote for a conservative, he needs to point out the conservative(s).I listen to Rush every day and he has made some good comments about Fred; but the past few days he has responded to Mitt callers who have fallen for Mitt--"Mittens" or I should say "smitten mittens". Before that, it was Huck callers wall to wall.

Rush has spoken some veritables about McCain. The more I see and hear and read of McC. the more unpalatable he becomes. SC is a conservative state. What is wrong with the voters there--and Gramnasty is campaigning for McC. I thought the people there had learned about those two.

There is simply too much herd mentality among us about electability. We tell ourselves a candidate is not inspiring, then pretty soon we're convinced he's unelectable, and, voila, he almost becomes so. Yet, at that very moment, he's proving to us that he is quite presidential, quite electable and quite motivated for the job -- if we can only shed our predispositions against his "electability."

Truer words were never written. Millions of conservatives are writing off the only electable conservative in the race, and it's just because of a false impression aided and abetted by Fred's liberal rivals and their supporters.

That false impression is rampant right here on a conservative forum where Fred has many supporters, so just imagine how widespread it must be among conservatives who don't lurk on websites like FR where the truth about Fred is readily available. Rush could dispel that false impression to a large degree if only he would stop beating around the bush and endorse Fred. Com'on Rush, do it!

If Rush were to endorse Fred, and Fred doesn’t do well in SC on Saturday, and Fred was to withdraw like he said he would if he doesn’t do well in SC, then Rush would end up having egg on his face. He doesn’t want to do anything that might look as though he doesn’t have clout with his listeners. That’s just my guess.

Perhaps David Limbaugh can get an answer from “respected conservative” Ann Coulter as to why she’s behaved just like the drive-by media and treated a major conservative candidate and his brilliant policy positions so poorly.

OTOH, I think I have a pretty good idea why.....

Thanks for the ping, pm. Glad to see this from David Limbaugh.

I agree with your comments 100%. Rush is a great guy and I listen to him alot but he is also in business. I have wondered why he was blathering about the dems for the last couple of weeks and not talking about Fred. I noticed that he seems to be warming up to Romney a bit. But his support right after N.H. could have been a tipping point. Now, even if he came out today, I wonder how much effect it would have. Not running up the white flag cause I know that Fred is going to do very well in S.C. But I, like many of you, wish Rush would have come out for him.
