Thanks for posting this. This is big news. Now investigators have names and numbers... not just alligations. This could go balistic tommorrow. Still in time before Saturday.

I can’t tell who it will help, but I can tell you who it will hurt. The Huckster.

We all need to message Drudge with a link to the story.
And someone should call in to Rush tomorrow and talk about it.

On campaign records, West is listed as the chief operating officer of the Wellington Group. The company's Web site states he co-founded it in 1996 to develop assisted living facilities throughout the country "based on Christian values." West has given money recently to the National Republican Party, Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., and the leadership campaign committee of former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist of Tennessee.

Bill Frist Endorses Fred Thompson Posted Mar 12th 2007 7:17PM by NixGuy Filed under: President 2008, Fred Thompson

Nashville, TN – The Corker for Senate campaign today characterized a new negative ad from Washington Congressman Harold Ford attacking Fred Thompson’s support for Corker as “sophomoric,” and predicted the ad will backfire.

I think that some of them are ‘Rat trolls. Republicans just couldn’t be that stupid and stereotypically robotic (ie, the ones who flat claim that they’re voting for Huckster simply because “he’s a Christian”). Some of the posts sound more like what a ‘Rat would think that a “evangelical sheep” type would say.

Huh.

The whole argument of the article is that A guy named West is a Huck Supporter and he donated to the company running the push polls.

If it is a pro-Huck push poll, them it would make sense that a pro-Huckabee person was behind it. The interesting thing is that the other people that the guy has given to are close supporters of Fred and to the Republican Party.

Rush did a terrible day today.
His worst show he’s ever done to my knowledge.
Perhaps his show preppers are on strike too.

He missed out on all of the important stories, and lumped Fred Thompson in with all the other GOP candidates in a race for “who you dislike the least.”

Rush has totally abdicated his leadership role in the conservative movement, and he’s left a lot of people who look to him for guidance without any. He’s done more to sew the seeds of doubt for Fred Thompson in the last few days than anything. It’s been really quite shameful.

I’ve already lost all respect for Shawn Hannity because of his whoring for Rudy Giuliani. He will never regain my respect.
It looks like even Rush is going down that road now too.
I can’t say that I’ve ever been more disappointed in him.

So what?

The article is implying guilt by association indicated by who the guy gave money to. He gave money to Huck's campaign and the 527 that ran the push polls, but he also gave to the republican party and two endorsers of Fred. The conspiracy in the push poll controversy then involves Fred, Huck, Corker, Frist, and the republican Party since they are all connected through West.

But THOSE people aren't the ones behind these phone calls. That he has given to them has ZERO to do with other actions he's taken.

I'm sure this guy has bought something at the local 7-11--are they in on the calls, too?

If this is all you Huckabee fans have, it's embarassing. I guess Huckabee isn't going to take responsibility for ANY action he or his supporters take. What a man! What a leader!

You are employing a logical fallacy with the intent to mislead. You are a Huckabee shill trying to obfuscate the issue.

Corker and Frist are not Fred Thompson. They cannot stand-in as substitutes for him.
West is a Huckabee ORGANIZER who is also helping to fund this group supposedly not connected to Huckabee’s campaign.

It doesn’t matter who else he may have contributed to. Giving money to them is not the same thing as giving money to Thompson. They’re not running against Huckabee.

For all we know, giving money to other politicians who are “friends” of Fred Thompson is just a smokescreen.

Apparently, it's not illegal to spread false rumors that a candidate is dropping out of the race, either. But it's still wrong and sleazy to use such tactics to damage a campaign and people who have received these calls have a right to know they were false and who is responsible for them.

Who's whining? I'm just laughing at your incredibly weak attempt to smear OTHER people this guy has given to--something you didn't even attempt to refute.

If this IS some kind of smear, he fully deserves it for his cowardly use of the Romney ad while he was congratulating himself for NOT using it.

Fred donors’ firm tied to Medicaid scandal

By: Kenneth P. Vogel
Sep 7, 2007 01:19 PM EST

Fred Thompson’s donors were tied to a firm accused of overcharging Medicaid.

Fred Thompson accepted at least $13,800 from a Tennessee family that oversaw a pharmaceutical company accused of ripping off federal and state governments.

Fred is involved in ripping off state and federal governments!
