Sympathy to he DH fans but I have been in Nevada all week and I have heard several DH radio ads. I agree 100% with his messages but the the delivery explains why he can’t poll above half of double digits. If it were all about the best ideas and principles America could be run by a Freeper somewhere in his pajamas, but elective politics in a republic is retail sales game. You have to sell the ideas. DH has great product but he can’t sell it.

Right. That’s why he beat an incumbent Democrat and won his seat in the high 60% every time. That’s why every time a crowd gets to hear him, his poll numbers show it.

We don’t need your sympathy for doing the right thing. Save the sympathy for all of us when we’re stuck with another ‘compassionate conservative’ or worse.

CPAC 2007, Day 2: Duncan Hunter wow’s ‘em

Duncan Hunter is on the 2008 map. He woke up the Day 2 CPAC audience with a machine-gun like 20 minute address focused largely on the issues of our misbegotten trade policies, the war and illegal immigration. Did not try to do too much, and he did it very well.

The result was numerous standing ovations and a huge scrum outside the ballroom with press and audience members seeking additional time with the congressman.

Mike Huckabee, who spoke about an hour later, was by contrast too cerebral and tried to cover too much, and consequently received a more subdued response.

Listen to Hunter’s address here.

Would you support Hunter as the GOP nominee, lets say, if there was a moderate centrist Republican also in the race in November as an independent, running against Hunter and either Hitlery or Obama or Edwards, i.e. three way race?

Duncan Hunter can’t sell to you because apparently you want things all wrapped up in shiny paper. You ignore the message because the package isn’t pretty enough to suit you. Style over substance. Listen to the Message!!

I want someone with a real, solid message, who I can trust to do what he says. That is Duncan Hunter.

While you are explaining or explaining away, can you please explain what becomes of your theory when discussing such candidates as Fred Thompson and John McCain? How about Rudy and Ron Paul?

Do they have this magical delivery or will you admit you are grasping at straws? Could there perhaps be another explanation you are avoiding in order to feel good about casting your vote for someone other than the true conservative in this race? Thanks for your sympathies, but, no thanks. As I told a Romnyulan earlier, “Save your sympathies for Americans, they are going to need them”.

You have to sell the ideas. DH has great product but he can’t sell it.

Well, if all you are after is a used-car-salesman-in-chief, might I direct you to the Romney camp?
