Rangel: Only Progress in Iraq Is to 'Get the Hell Out!' By Josiah Ryan CNSNews.com Staff Writer January 18, 2008

On the Spot (CNSNews.com) - Rep. Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.) told Cybercast News Service Thursday that he does not consider legislation passed last Saturday by the Iraqi Parliament, which permits former members of Saddam's Ba'ath Party to reclaim government jobs, a sign of political progress. "The only thing that is progress is to get the hell out of there," said Rangel. (Hear Audio)

The legislation, which allows low-ranking Ba'athist Sunnis to participate in the new Shia-controlled government, has been cited by both Democrats and Republicans as an important benchmark of political reconciliation within Iraq.

The U.S. Congress passed legislation in May 2007 that lists "enacting and implementing legislation on de-Ba'athification" as the third of 18 benchmarks for success in Iraq. Rangel voted in favor of that legislation.

In his view, however, there is no possibility of any success in Iraq. In reference to the continuing decline in U.S. casualties in the Iraq war, Rangel said: "The fact that less people are dying in an immoral war? How could you call that progress? No. It's sad." (Hear Audio)

"And to those people who think we are moving towards success, just go to a couple of hearings and they will find out," he said. "Unless there is a moral reason to be there, you cannot have any success because less people are dying."

""The fact that less people are dying in an immoral war? How could you call that progress? No. It's sad."

Immoral war? The only Immoral war this country is involved in is happening on our own soil. The nation is under attack by lying, stealing, cheating Democrats who will do and say anything, including supporting Islamic terrorism and practicing espionage against this country's efforts to combat this terrorism in order to regain power.

Rangel has been in congress for almost 40 years. His bio lists JACK as accomplishments.

This man has done nothing but suck off the public teat for his entire life.

traitors from within, didn’t some soviet president say they would take us without firing a shot? It’s disgraceful that we have to contend with this kind of garbage, almost on a daily basis.

Congressman Rangel is a graduate of New York University and St. John's University School of Law. He has spent his entire career in public service, first as an Assistant U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, and later in the New York State Assembly. He was elected to the 92nd Congress on November 3, 1970, and has been re-elected to each succeeding congress.

Say no more ...

Well I’ll say one thing for Rangel, I think this is some kind of a record for being behind the curve. Larry Elder was just talking about the anti-war groups and that they have basicly folded shop. Leftist politicos have jumped ship, they can’t get their agenda through Congress. Bush isn’t buying it and the requisite dollars to carry on aren’t there.

And now Rangel has deemed this the time to be the voice of clarity. At least he’s been consistant over his 40 yeas, without exception clueless as roadkill.

Preach it, L! :-)

On a serious note, you think that at some point, the writing on the wall for Iraq would be we're winning so I better get a new talking point.

Chucky is a loon. What Murtha, Kerry, Clinton, Edwards, Pelosi, Reid and all the other loons say doesn’t surprise me anymore.

Once you’re invested in defeat and can’t go back...

I can see Chucky on vacation in Baghdad with his family 10 years from now still declaring defeat and how he alone was responsible for the NEW Iraq, where even Americans can go to Baghdad to vacation without security!

“The nation is under attack by lying, stealing, cheating Democrats who will do and say anything, including supporting Islamic terrorism and practicing espionage against this country’s efforts to combat this terrorism in order to regain power.”

Acting as joyous midwife to a Mohammedan terror statelet in Kosovo, giving $500,000,000.00 of our money to Fatah, insisting on “compensation” for displaced Palis in Israel, leaving the borders open and the lights on so Mustapha and his gang can walk right in, suicide belts and all and firing the sole credible Pentagon expert on Mohammedanism at the behest of a Mohammedan aide with ties to known terror organizations, of course, is true American patriotism, right?

Too late for withdrawal and surrender, jackass.

Maybe if you havent been busy smelling the sweet stench of surrender coming out of your liberal rear, maybe you havent noticed that the surge WORKED.

Only when America is victorious that liberals finally show whose side they’re REALLY on.

Congressman Rangel is a failure of 38 years in ‘career’ training.

traitors from within, didn’t some soviet president say they would take us without firing a shot?

First, it was Nikita Khrushchev banging his shoe on the podium and screaming he would take down the U.S. without firing a shot. I believe that happened in 1960.

Second, didn't someone say, and I think it was Rangel himself, that Rangel fought in the Korean War? Believing that this is true, I have but one question: Which side was he on?
