Okey, dokey, let’s not upset the Islamics because they might throw future elections.

Well yes, I suppose that it might get just a tad worse there if they were to install a Taliban Government....

At least Socialists don't force their women to wear bags over their heads (yet)

Hmmm..troops out of Iraq, no troops in Afghanistan, a socialist government, looks like there is a teachable moment here if the Spaniards would use some logic.

Hopefully the people of Spain will exercise their forthcoming opportunity wisely.  From the posted BBC article:

The BBC's Steve Kingstone, in Madrid, says domestic security will be a key issue in the run-up to Spain's general election, in two months time.

(Emphasis added)

There is a sizeable Paki population in Spain. The Barri Xines, on the west side of the Ramblas in Barcelona, is basically a Paki nabe, with youth hostels and junkies mixed in.

You'd think that all of those quilting bees, devotion to God and hours of horse-buggy maintenance would have had a calming effect upon their culture, but sadly it seems that the opposite is the case.

I have a hard time taking these thugs lightly. Their cells are everywhere - and we have a wide open southern border. We also have proof that they have entered the US via Mexico.

I’m glad they were apprehended before they could complete their mission in Spain.

Well, if they're going to create muzzie ghettos wherever they go, at least it makes it easier to round them up whenever the host country develops a backbone.

As am I. I wonder how many other groups are involved in plots that will eventually not be detected...even as we speak?

Right here, in the U.S., where they’re coming through the borders.

I DON’T UNDERSTAND: Spain surrendered to Al Quaeda by turning tail and fleeing the battlefield in Iraq. Are the terrorists trying to kick Spain when it is down? Or do they want Cordoba back? Maybe if Zapatero offered them Seville..........

They will only stop after they have achieved total world domination.

If we were able to read Arabic and were to study the Al Qaeda rhetoric we would find that it is their stated goal to restore the Spanish caliphate. It would be good to keep emphasizing this until the alternate media is compelled to discuss it and it becomes a discussed topic among American conservatives and leads to dialogue with people in Spain. It would be good to have Freepers from Spain to keep us posted on developments there with regard to this part of the war.

I think that the deal is that they have to re-surrender every few weeks in order for the surrender to remain valid........

ROFL!

Last time they surrendered. Didn’t work, did it?

Hope those terrorists have some good lawyers to sue their government for violations of their privacy.

Maybe now the Spaniards will wake up to the fact that cowtowing
to people who's primary intention is to kill them, is still a death sentence.

This made news across Europe, but was it covered in the nightly news here at all?

In other words, does the average American who watches the nightly news know anything about this?
The MSM here wants to keep terrorism off the front pages as much as possible before the election - in order to keep the voters’ focus on the economy and voting for a democrat.

A terrorist attack in europe toward the end of the summer/beginning of Fall could absolutely sink the democrats.

If it was, I'm probably the worst possible person to ask as I rarely watch TV and almost never the nightly "news".  It can be counted on to fail dismally in most all efforts to amuse or credibly inform.  You may be able to check the TV "news"  coverage on this event by searching "the usual suspect" sites, but you will probably end up empty-handed or nearly so. Nobody died, nothing was blown up and there's no way of spinning this into a negative story on the Bush administration (but that will most likely not dissuade the Left from trying), and so there's not going to be any particular interest in covering it.

In other words, does the average American who watches the nightly news know anything about this?

I doubt it.  Although my understanding is that, sadly, most Americans still rely on the nightly TV "news" for their information (it's terribly convenient) the people who truly have an interest in being accurately informed on this or any other event will be those who use the internet as their primary news source.  This is going to be the case universally, as those who have a passionate interest in any semblance of the truth have given up on the TV "news" decades ago.

Unfortunately, it still requires a much more active interest and dedication to be informed via the internet, and that's the advantage that the TV "news" continues to hold.  Surfing among multiple sites and reading will never be as easy as pushing the "on" button and falling back into an easy chair while being spoonfed Leftist spin in front of The Portal Of Ignorance.

All quite true.   Worse yet for them would be a terror attack in the USA, which they would have an even tougher time ignoring or spinning.

"Okey, dokey, let’s not upset the Islamics because they might throw future elections."

Another thread indicated that the British are now going to refer to attacks like this one as "anti-Islamic activity", i.e. not allowed by Islamic teachings. So, as long as the activity is addressed in this manner, the Islamics will not become upset; at least some Brits think is the way it will work.
