In the stuffy world of politics, the Ron Paul campaign has earned the reputation of being something like a raucous, freedom-loving party. A raucous, freedom-loving party with lots of paranoid bigots. So it would probably be more surprising if the band reportedly headlining RonPaulapalooza didn't have a few teeny-tiny problems with the Jews, who they feel are trying to destroy everybody. The band Poker Face enjoys churning out a hard-chargin' "freedom rock" that they developed under the influence of Boston, the Beatles, and Frank Zappa, as well as a firm conviction that the Holocaust did not happen and that the Jews are in fact the lead agents of a "Satanic World Order."
And according to a notice sent out by RonPaulaplooza organizers, you can get yourself a taste when Poker Face (along with some "lesser-known bands") rocks the big event, now tentatively scheduled for the Fourth of July holiday weekend in Morehead, Kentucky. As of post time, organizers had not responded to Radar's anxious inquiries about the possible co-appearance of a sassy little slice of pizza known to sling some fairly dope rhymes about the Ron Paul revolution.
Well, we keep getting told this guy is the only conservative in the race. We keep getting told that Reagan said libertarianism is the heart of the GOP. We're told they call it "The rEVOLution." And the problem is, a message that is about conservatism, libertarianism or love should not even remotely appeal to people whose forum tagline is "nothing says lovin' like a jew in the oven."
It's time we gave this band of sideshow freaks the bum's rush out of our party...or at least FR.
Is this some kind of sick joke?
ping for later read
It's always fun to watch a national political party commit suicide!
I’ve noticed the Paul Qaeda has been pretty quiet around here.
Were they finally shamed into giving up on the antisemitic nutcase, or did they have to be purged?
Of course, if Obama had bands in his corner with similar baggage, all us good, self-hating liberals would just nervously twiddle our thumbs and keep silent.
What part of "Official Campaign Is Not Involved" do you not understand?
Do you want to deny other people their freedom to associate just because you disagree with their beliefs?
This is one of the dumbest threads on FR, ever.
1) Since when do glorified blog/ezine posts make it to front page news? Hello, topic abuse. The Radars top stories are about Gloria Beckham vomiting and about Lindsey Lohan.
2) The website http://ronpaulapalooza.com/ doesn’t list any bands and in fact says the date is tentative.
3) The Paul campaign has nothing to do with this event. If you can prove it does, call the FEC, because they will fine him and and he will be history. Of course, it’s much easier to smear him by just alluding to it. Same as the accusations of him taking Soros money. If you can prove it - call the FEC. Soros will go to jail. It’s much easier to smear though, isn’t it?
4) He said in the last debate that he doesn’t want truthers etc to support him, because he doesn’t believe what they do and their support doesn’t help him.
No, you've been told that Ron Paul is a paranoid kook/anti-war leftist in the party, and that Fred Thompson was the only conservative. Who here have ever said Paul was the real conservative here, without being subject to ridicule?
We keep getting told that Reagan said libertarianism is the heart of the GOP.
But in the next breath, Reagan also said that libertarianism has limits. Still, libertarianism is an important bloc of the GOP. If that POS pro-abortion Rudy can be a Republican, then so can Dr. Paul.
We're told they call it "The rEVOLution."
For the most part, it is. There have been isolated incidents of kooks trying to exploit the campaign for their own personal gain or publicity. When you have a message like Ron Paul has, you're bound to attract the undesirables. I told you this already on the other thread.
It's time we gave this band of sideshow freaks the bum's rush out of our party...or at least FR.
Most of the Ron Paul supporters have already been given the boot here, because they crossed the line or you guys kept pinging the Mods because you were getting beat-down in discussion.
“Springtime for Hitler, and Germany...”
You know what's even stranger? You guys are obsessed over someone who hasn't placed no higher than 5th in the primaries. I bet you guys also enjoy looking at car wrecks and torturing insects too, right.
“Ive noticed the Paul Qaeda has been pretty quiet around here.”
No, it’s just that the foaming at the mouth Paul-haters spam the threads with dumb excuses for posts to make comments like “Paul Qaeda” and blabbing about the great (ha ha ha) lefty TNR article about how Paul is bad because he thinks the BATF cross the line too often, that the 8% or so of members who support Dr. Paul don’t bother posting.
“Were they finally shamed into giving up on the antisemitic nutcase, or did they have to be purged?”
Bush must be the antisemite - not Paul.
Look at their actions!
Bush is lobbying for a terror state to be created, including half of Jerusalem.
Bush prevents Israel from defending themselves.
When they do, he sends Flied Rice to the region to tell the Israelis they must have ‘restraint’ when dozens of missiles are shot at them a day. You know, they might ‘inflame the situation.’
Bush had the ‘peace’ conference where the Israeli’s had to enter through the service entrance, so as not to offend his Saudi masters.
You were more entertaining when you made dumb cartoons about dumb democrats. You should stick to that.
Don't bother with the Mods. If someone heard a bunch of teens gossiping about Paul at a mall, it'll get posted here in breaking news.
So, you're saying we should keep thee Nazis, so our voter base doesn't shrink? Maybe we should keep the Troofers too.
Nothing to see here though, let's all go to the latest "Day in the Life of President Bush" thread and let our eyes glaze over at the pic of Bush in his t-shirt carrying branches on his ranch.
“No, you’ve been told that Ron Paul is a paranoid kook/anti-war leftist in the party, and that Fred Thompson was the only conservative.”
Fred Thompson - Aristide’s registered lobbyist and lawyer.
But it’s OK - he represented Aristide for free. (As if that makes it better? How many Freepers would do work for a marxist murderer for free?)
Not only that, he did it 2 weeks after Aristide was widely quoted in the media as telling his supporters to ‘necklace’ their opponents - put a tire on their head and light it on fire. He was quoted talking about how nice the smell is.
2 weeks alter, Fred registered as his lobbyist.
Fred represented a commie dictator murderer for free - I guess that makes his supporters Frederistas?
A few were purged (George W. Bush leaps to mind) but once the newsletters came out, the “it’s guilt by association, they did it to Goldwater” line was much harder to push.
Interesting when the GOP nominee loses in the general election, we Troofers and white supremacists are suddenly going to become traitorous conservatives and losertarians who wouldn't toe the party line.
Yep. They're already keeping quiet about his racist pastor.
Probably the supporters. It’s really odd seeing someone explain why it’s no big deal that their candidate is the undisputed favorite among the sort of people my grandfather was killing from 1943-1945.
“So, you’re saying we should keep thee Nazis, so our voter base doesn’t shrink? Maybe we should keep the Troofers too.”
You’re welcome to cite the post where anyone said such a thing on FR.
I guess you continue to support Bush, whose DOJ filed a brief in support of DC’s gun laws with the Supreme Court?
Or you could just keep your head in the sand and keep yelling GO TEAM GO! RAH RAH RAH! Your call.
“A few were purged (George W. Bush leaps to mind) but once the newsletters came out, the its guilt by association, they did it to Goldwater line was much harder to push.”
The TNR critique was a left wing critique!
I guess we know where you stand now.
Noted.
The newsletters railed against political correctness, the Bureau of Tobacco, Alcohol, and Firearms, against abortion, and against the loss of US sovereignty.
In other cases, he claims Paul was ‘defending’ David Duke when if you looked at the newsletter, the author was actually comparing Bill Clinton to him. In a liberal’s mind, that’s defending.
Good to know where you stand. With Bill Clinton, for gun control like Bush, and for abortion.
In 1943 my grandfather landed in Italy, where he spent the better part of his time between then and May of '45 killing people like the guys in Poker Face. People like the guys in Poker Face put several rounds into my great uncle Del at the Battle of the Bulge. People like the guys in Poker Face started a war that killed tens of millions. People like the guys in Poker Face conceived, designed, built, supplied and ran Auschwitz.
Passing the word that the candidate is no longer interested in hearing from, being seen with, or getting help from these people would not be a violation of freedom of association. It would be sane. And that's why Ron Paul hasn't done it.
We are just enjoying the election results.
Dumb post alert ping
You're a typical knee-jerk Paul basher who enjoys picking at scab wounds with a rusty switchblade to the amusement of your fellow toy monkey-cymbal Paul bashing friends.
So I won't play your game in the future.
“Passing the word that the candidate is no longer interested in hearing from, being seen with, or getting help from these people would not be a violation of freedom of association. It would be sane. And that’s why Ron Paul hasn’t done it.”
He specifically did in the last debate after Carl Cameron’s dumb question. Paul thwapped that pipsqueak.
The newsletters' were much ado about nothing.
Paul has said he does not welcome these people support, but he would be contradicting himself if he told these people what to do. It would go against the grain of everything he believes in.
“The newsletters’ were much ado about nothing.”
Among FReepers who are smart enough to do 3 minutes of web searching and verify information for themselves, these ‘Paul turned me into a newt!” threads are actually creating Paul supporters.
Just out of curiosity, why did you ping me to this thread? ...especially with a reference to Hitler?
What’s happening to Paul is pretty sad. Read Booker T. Washington’s quote about black “leaders,” and you’ll understand where I’m coming from. So-called conservatives in powerful positions have a vested interest in continuing the status-quo. Ron Paul is smashing that left/right paradigm that the two-party system have used to keep Americans divided.
No, I'm saying the Neo-Con lovers should think twice before blanketing all Ron Paul supporters as evil bastards. It's going to cost the GOP dearly, especially if Ron Paul runs 3rd party. The GOP front runners are all anti-traditional conservatives and threaten to drive conservatives from the GOP itself.
Hmmm...but that doesn't mean it's not true, does it? Radar also has stories about Huckabee's South Carolina appearances in the top stories list, and CNN, Fox News, ABC Radio and my local newspaper all run stories about both Huckabee and Lindsay Lohan. Strike one!
The website http://ronpaulapalooza.com/ doesnt list any bands and in fact says the date is tentative.
Radar says they received a notice. If they did not do so and they publlish a retraction, I will ask the mods to pull this thread. If the mods don't pull it, I will post an notice of the retraction to everyone who posted to this thread.
But baby, I don't think there will be a retracttion! Strike two!
The Paul campaign has nothing to do with this event. If you can prove it does, call the FEC, because they will fine him and and he will be history. Of course, its much easier to smear him by just alluding to it. Same as the accusations of him taking Soros money. If you can prove it - call the FEC. Soros will go to jail.
Right the Paul campaign has nothing to do with this...or with Don Black's donation...or with racist newsletters (the guy's qaulified to be commander in chief, but he can't read a newsletter he published for five years)...or with any of these. Strike three!
He said in the last debate that he doesnt want truthers etc to support him, because he doesnt believe what they do and their support doesnt help him.
Their money does, and so does money raised at Stormfront. More to the point, however, if he dislikes the Troofers so much, why did it take him four appearances on the Alex Jones show to figure it out, including one on October 5th where Jones said "we're your base here" and Paul did nothing to dissuade that persception? Strike Four!
Its much easier to smear though, isnt it?
I and almost every other person on FR who opposes Paul talked issues from the beginning, particularly about the war that Dr. Paul would like to lose in Iraq. We were smeared as haters of the Constitution because we wanted to kill Al Qaidaa there, and just a coupple of days ago I was accused of being on the payroll of the Giuliani campaign since early last year even though I have never posted anything in support of him, and much that attacks him. I'm not whining (whining's for liberals and Paulites) but those are the facts. Strike five!
Exactly!
The late Murrary Rothbard has an excellent work on that subject as well, The Betrayal of the American Right
But it is difficult to think of how else The Betrayal of the American Right can be described. Murray N. Rothbard chronicles the emergence of an American right wing that gave lip service to free-market principles and "limited government," but whose first priority, for which it was willing to sacrifice anything else, was military interventionism around the world. That sounds familiar, to be sure, but as Rothbard shows, it is neither recent nor anomalous. It goes back to the very beginnings of the organized conservative movement in the 1950s. http://www.lewrockwell.com/rothbard/betrayal/index.html
Oh, so if 1,000 people said he's the only conservative in the racee, but at least one person made fun of each of them, I can't say we've been told that? Puhleeze. Take a logic course.
If that POS pro-abortion Rudy can be a Republican, then so can Dr. Paul.
My thesis is not that Ron Paul is libertarian and therefore not welcome in the GOP, my thesis is that there's something fundamentally wrong and unconservative and unlibertarian about a guy who inspires passion among goosesteppers.
When you have a message like Ron Paul has, you're bound to attract the undesirables.
Yep, undesirables just like the ones my Grandfather was killling from 1943-1945. Undesirables like the ones who shot my Great-Uncle Del at the Bulge. Undesirables like the people who designed and ran Auschwitz.
Most of the Ron Paul supporters have already been given the boot here, because they crossed the line or you guys kept pinging the Mods because you were getting beat-down in discussion.
Yeah, keep thinking it was because we couldn't defend ourselves against the great minds that back Run Paul. [CHORTLE!]
You won't hear me say that. I'm all for showing y'all the door. A party that needs you to win isn't worth having.
Amen.
A tenet of Conservatism is being fair minded and objective (that is why we are conservatives)
Thus, those vicious type of smear attacks tend to backfire.
“Hmmm...but that doesn’t mean it’s not true, does it? Radar also has stories about Huckabee’s South Carolina appearances in the top stories list, and CNN, Fox News, ABC Radio and my local newspaper all run stories about both Huckabee and Lindsay Lohan. Strike one!”
It’s a dumb tabloid/blog. You posted an article that claims something that isn’t written about anywhere else on the interweb, and fails to mention it’s not involved with the campaign.
Strike 1 for you!
“Radar says they received a notice. If they did not do so and they publlish a retraction, I will ask the mods to pull this thread. If the mods don’t pull it, I will post an notice of the retraction to everyone who posted to this thread.”
Produce the notice. The preponderance of proof is on the asserter. Not the defender. Since when does it matter if a website with 7 readers posts a retraction? They just move on to the next tabloid article.
Strike 2 for you!
I did find one blog where they mentioned the band was “signed” for the concert but that they didn’t have enough money to pay the deposit for the campground!
So, as of now, there is no concert.
Major strike 3 for you!
“Right the Paul campaign has nothing to do with this...”
If they do, PROVE IT. The FEC will come down on all of them like a ton of bricks.
It’s much easier to smear than support your idiotic false claims though. SO you’re going to just keep it up. Figures.
The Paul-Haters are the real Paultards. The name Ron Paul makes you act like a total retard, foaming at the mouth and having a fit.
Strike 4 for you!
“or with Don Black’s donation...”
I guess you’d rather he give the money back to Black - then when black did something else dumb, Paul can be attacked for helping fund Black’s activities. You guys are so slick! Paul is using that losers money for good, and totally repudiated him and other people like him who sent him money, mistakenly. The fault isn’t Paul’s - it’s Don Black’s problem for being so dumb he doesn’t understand Paul’s message isn’t for him.
Strike 5 for you!!!!!
“or with racist newsletters (the guy’s qaulified to be commander in chief, but he can’t read a newsletter he published for five years)...”
Cite the so-caalled racist quotes? To the TNR idiot who wrote the article, attacking the welfare state for causing the conditions that led to the LA riots is “racist.” And Paul must be some kinda militia whacko for defending the 2nd amendment.
Strike 6!
You have 2x the strikes as you claimed I did, on the same amount of information.
“the guy’s qaulified to be commander in chief, but he can’t read a newsletter he published for five years)...or with any of these. Strike three!”
and
“Their money does, and so does money raised at Stormfront.”
Fred Thompson represented Aristide for free. For free! 2 weeks after he advocated putting a gas soaked car tire over people heads and lighting them on fire - and went on to talk about how nice that smelled. When asked about the content of his call with John Sununu to lobby for Aristide the marxist dictator/murderer, he said he “can’t recall.” Just what we need, another clinton!
You defended the TNR article - that’s all pinned on you now. Live with it.
Strikes 7 and 8!
“I and almost every other person on FR who opposes Paul talked issues from the beginning, particularly about the war that Dr. Paul would like to lose in Iraq.”
Another lie - strike 9! you’re on a roll.
“We were smeared as haters of the Constitution because we wanted to kill Al Qaidaa there, and just a coupple of days ago I was accused of being on the payroll of the Giuliani campaign since early last year even though I have never posted anything in support of him, and much that attacks him.”
I can’t figure out what you are babbling about here so you get the benefit of the doubt.
“Yeah, keep thinking it was because we couldn’t defend ourselves against the great minds that back Run Paul. [CHORTLE!]”
That’s what’s so funny.
You can’t, and you’re blind to it.
Yeah...that's the only choice open to me as a voter, either praise every thing George Bush does or back the Truther/Nazi/Code Pink candidate. Wow, I never realized it before...
In the immortal words of Frank Zappa:
“What’s the ugliest part of your body?
Some say your nose, some say your toes, but I think its your mind.”
Same old, same old.
>> Fourth of July holiday weekend in Morehead, Kentucky
Why in the world would ElRon schedule an event in Kentucky in July?
By then, he’ll LONG be out of the POTUS race, and he’ll be fighting for his life to get re-elected to his seat in Congress... right here in Texas.
(And I’ll be working enthusiastically to stop him.)
This has gone beyond the pale.
I cannot believe that I am seeing conservatives bashing and trashing a candidate whose platform consists of basic conservative values. We all don’t agree with “all” of his platform, but we agree with a good percentage of the values he is bringing to the forefront.
Gee, I wonder who these kooks and nuts voted for before Ron Paul. You can safely bet that they were not voting for a Democrat. OMG, they might have voted for your candidate!
All of these “hit pieces” are coming from “kooky” left fringe sources. Doesn’t that tell you something?
Truth be told, I don’t believe Ron Paul really believes he can become the President of the United States; but he is bringing a lot of good conservative issues to the forefront, that sadly, some of the frontrunners are ignoring. I ask you, what is wrong with that?
It appears to me that many are buying into the left wing’s campaign to suppress the Conservative issues that Ron Paul is talking about.
That said, there must be posters over at KOS and DU laughing their butts off at some of the hippocrites on these and the rest of the Ron Paul threads.
I no not support any candidate at the moment, but can’t we have a reasonable debate about issues, instead of who’s supporting who?
You know what's really cute? No matter how many Nazis and Troofers back your guy, I can't recall anyone who opposes Paul saying that your support of Paul means you're Nazis. And yet, if someone cites a liberal attack on Paul (or even just criticizes him on their own) you guys accuse them of being leftists, or on the Giuliani payroll, or whatever. And then...here's the best part...you screech about "guilt by association."
As for where I stand, I'm a professional writer, and I know what it takes to put out a publication like a magazine or a newsletter. Anyone who says they published a newsletter for five years under their name without "micromanaging it" (i.e., reading the bloody thing) is either lying or stupid. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say "stupid."
Good to know where you stand. With Bill Clinton, for gun control like Bush, and for abortion.
Ah, now I see the great intellectual prowess that caused you to become a Paul supporter.
Your logic is astounding.
Since that’s all you could respond to, you inherently yielded to the rest of the points.
Time to ask the admin mod to pull the thread.
