Barack Says Hello As Minnesota Suddenly Matters (Republicans Flocking To Obama?)
Captain's Quarters ^ | Jan. 20, 2008 | Ed Morrissey

Posted on 01/20/2008 4:17:41 PM PST by jdm

Earlier today, I received the first of what I presume will be a flurry of phone calls looking for my vote in Minnesota's caucus on February 5th. This call didn't come from the Republicans, however, but from the Barack Obama campaign. They wanted to see if they could count on my vote.

How did they get my name on their list? Recall a couple of months ago that I attempted to get leading Democratic presidential contenders to appear on my Heading Right Radio show on BlogTalkRadio. The only response I received was a blizzard of e-mails asking me to contribute to their campaigns, even when I clearly sent my request to their press shops. I eventually got my name off of the John Edwards list, which saved me a half-dozen e-mails a day, but since the Obama campaign didn't bother me much after the first couple of appeals, I never bothered with it.

The caller seemed amused when I explained who I was and why my name was on her list. She and I chatted a while about Obama, and she told me that the campaign wants to make a big play for Republican votes here in Minnesota. They have a Republicans for Obama organization in the offing, and she claimed that Republicans have been flocking to Obama, something Sean at MNPublius also claimed ten weeks ago.

I'm not sure how true that is or how that effort will succeed. Obama has a more standard liberal policy profile than Hillary Clinton and a more retreatist position on the war. However, he also has a genuineness and dignity about him that Hillary and the entire Clinton squad lacks, and some Republicans might be happy just to see Hillary get bounced in the primaries. And make no mistake -- Minnesota suddenly matters as neither party has achieved any real clarity on its nomination. We'll be part of a crowd on February 5th, but still an important part, for both Democrats and Republicans.

I did ask to see whether Obama wants to do an interview. The caller said she's pass it along to the Saint Paul office's press shop to see whether they can arrange it. I'd say it's unlikely to happen, but if they really want to reach out to Minnesota Republicans, they're going to have to start talking to one of us.

He probably won't get many takers. I certainly am not interested in him. But he does seem canny enough to needle Hillary with certain memes he may have picked up from us (underhanded tricks from Clinton, some praise of Reagan).

If he's really canny he'll have paid-up life insurance. Few escape the wrath of Hillary.

What’s the super delegate count? Primaries only count for 60% of the nomination delegates; the other 40% are from the political establishment. Somehow I think they owe the Clintons more favors than they owe Obama.

That said, I sincerely hope to face Hillary in the fall, especially with our emerging crowd of mediocre candidates. Anyone who polls that badly in the ‘I’ll never vote for her’ column is someone we want to face.

Genuineness and dignity in a proto-Marxist are NOT sufficient to win a conservative’s vote. Only the “stop Hillary!” at any cost fools will fall for this.

Without Fred, the election would quickly devolve into the Liberal Seven Dwarves and there would be quite a bit of surreal idiocy like this.

she claimed that Republicans have been flocking to Obama

Possibly for the same reasons why 'independents' and 'democrats' have been flocking to McCain: to try to knock out the [perceived] stronger general-election candidate.

Obambi, IMO, would still be weaker than HRC. Commander in Chief for Cold War II? Give me a break.

Since the Republican candidates are a top three of RINO’s, I can see where conservatives have no one to vote for in their Party. Why not change registration to Democrat prior to the Primary, and vote for Osama Obama, just to screw up the Hildbeast bean-counters? Then, in November, you can decide who is the most conservative of the RINO’s if we have only Romney, Huckabee, or McCain to pick from?

they know how much Republicans hate Hillary so they want to tap into that market and hopefully get votes from the GOPers whose candidate isn’t showing up in the GOP primary or is dissatisfied with the current GOP candidates. Its just a ploy for the primaries at this point.

I have some liberal calling me a racist in my feedback every day, even though I have a disclaimer on the Obama File page, that says, “This document is evolving ~ submit additions and/or corrections via the ‘feedback’ link.”

They never, ever suggest a change - -

The latest - - "A disgusting and racist site." - - "This is disgusting. I agree with AnneMarie. It's a shame there are people like you in this country." - - “...talk about RACE BAITING...!!”

“The odd part - - the only insensitive racial material in The Obama File was written by Obama.”

Anyone who talks real politics to Obama is auto-racist.

I mean we have here, the opportunity to add a new word to the English language:

Autoracism.

Even Bill Clinton can't talk real politics about Obama. His party told him to pipe down!

The end of rascism in America will come when we can ignore race, and deal with issues.

Obviously that time has not yet come.

As a cross cultural expert with years of experience, I know I am not a rascist. I will attack Obama hammer and tongs on his merit and character.

So should we all.

Obama is essentially a black nationalist who has no patriotism , and charismatic delivery of a message of obfuscation.

We will stop him in his tracks.

Yet Obama is calling for “unity” in South Carolina.

Unity is a code word for racial politics.

He wants people to vote for him because he is black, but would call you a racist if you voted against him because he is black.

is anyone surprised to see african-americans taking a leaf out of the book of the 'poor poor suppressed palestinians'?...converting the blacks is the islamists dream for America-

from May 2007:

LINK.

"Al-Qaida's Ayman al-Zawahri earlier this month courted blacks by frequently invoking Malcolm X, aka Al-Hajj Malik al-Shabazz, a past leader of the Nation of Islam.

On the hustings: Why the silence when al-Qaida's second-in-command urged African-Americans to join the holy war? Shamelessly, al-Zawahri encouraged blacks to join al-Qaida's holy war against the American "oppressor," and sacrifice their blood against "injustice" like the "struggler and martyr" Malcolm X.

He noted that the Muslim civil-rights leader condoned "violent" methods to help win equality for blacks, while implying that blacks today are still oppressed.

"I want blacks in America to know that when we wage jihad in Allah's path, we aren't waging jihad to lift oppression from the Muslims only," al-Zawahri said. "We are waging jihad to lift oppression from all mankind."

Some might argue that Obama shouldn't dignify such enemy agitprop with a response. But as the brother of a black convert (Roy), Obama must know that Islam is flourishing among African-Americans, even since 9/11, and that dozens of converts have been arrested in terrorism cases from Los Angeles to Miami.

The trend is dangerous because it plays right into the hands of al-Qaida, which is trying to lower its Arab profile by recruiting African-Americans for future attacks. That's why al-Qaida leaders like al-Zawahri are inviting blacks to convert to Islam and join them in taking revenge on a nation that they say enslaved their ancestors and continues to "oppress" them."

You got that right Fred.

My opinion about Obama is that he is a sophisticated, poseur for Hewy P. Newton. Obamas neocolonial "black power politics " work in Kenya proved it to me. He showed Odinga how "we do it in America." And the blood has NOT stopped flowing since the election. I think Obama rates right up there with all the previous colonials who worked their magic in Africa, to mold tribal politics to their own personal ends. That does not bode well for America.

Obama's movement is just beginning here, and he used Kenya as a test run.

They be coming out of the woodwork like this one:

M.L. King ally says U.S. holiday an insult.LINK.

The Rev. Peter Johnson, 62, director of the Texas operations for the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, told The Dallas Morning News the holiday should be on April 4, the anniversary of the date King was assassinated. "We have ignored the essence of his life and the horror of his death," said Johnson. "We've allowed white America to escape the guilt of his assassination and we've allowed black America to drift back into a coma."

Obama also has the endorsement of the New Black Panther Party.

Read The New Black Panther Party 10 Point Platform

10. WE DEMAND AN END TO THE RACIST DEATH PENALTY AS IT IS APPLIED TO BLACK AND OPPRESSED PEOPLE IN AMERICA. WE DEMAND FREEDOM FOR ALL POLITICAL PRISONERS OF THE BLACK RED AND BROWN NATION!

We want land, bread, housing, education, clothing, justice and peace. And, as our political objective, we want NATIONAL LIBERATION in a separate state or territory of our own, here or elsewhere, “a liberated zone” (“New Africa” or Africa), and a plebiscite to be held throughout the BLACK NATION in which only we will be allowed to participate for the purposes of determining our will and DIVINE destiny as a people. FREE THE LAND! “UP YOU MIGHTY NATION! YOU CAN ACCOMPLISH WHAT YOU WILL!” BLACK POWER! History has proven that the white man is absolutely disagreeable to get along with in peace. No one has been able to get along with the white man. All the people of color have been subjected to the white man’s wrath. We believe that his very nature will not allow for true sharing, fairness, equity and justice.

Therefore, to the Red Man and Woman, to the Yellow and to the Brown, we say to you
“THE SAME RABID DOG THAT BIT YOU, BIT US TOO!” ALL POWER TO THE PEOPLE!

I can definitely see a desire by Obama's crowd to grab the real power away from the Clinton machine, the white socialist power base that currently controls the Dem party, in a reprise of 1968. How ugly that will get is something that remains to be seen.

It would be prudent to stock up now in preparation for ugliness later in the year, regardless of current cost of supplies. If you wait until the ugliness starts, the shelves will be bare

Obama is the greatest threat to individual freedom that has come along since the McCarthy Era. His is a cotterie of socialists/black power nationalists/Islamioc fundamentalists, aided by a completely bonkers left wing Dem electorate.

I predict that if elected, he will destroy the country with his un-American activities, enough so that it will pale the communist initiatives stopped by Eugene McCarthy.

A shooting war in tha Urban areas of America can start around Obama. People have no idea.
