A Shift Toward Obama Is Seen Among Blacks

CHARLESTON, S.C., Jan. 20 -- Three months ago, beauty shop owner Shanaya Hammond was a somewhat reluctant supporter of Sen. Barack Obama. A campaign aide persuaded her to put two Obama posters in the window of her Passion Slice salon and she planned to vote for him, but, she allowed, "I won't be mad if Hillary wins."

No more. She is all in for Obama now, having been convinced after the senator from Illinois won the Iowa Democratic caucuses that America is ready to vote for a black man for president. "I was like, okay, it's happening for us," said Hammond, 32, a single mother of three. "At first, you're wishing, you're hoping and praying, and now it's like, okay, we have a chance. Other people are willing to vote for him."

Hammond sits at the crossroads of Saturday's Democratic primary here. She's a woman, and therefore critical to Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's hopes of winning, and she's African American, and thus crucial to Obama's chances.

The firming of her feelings for Obama reflects a shift in support that started with his victory in Iowa on Jan. 3. Three months ago, when The Washington Post first interviewed Hammond and several other African American women in this state, Clinton (N.Y.) had the support of 54 percent of black women nationally, compared with 35 percent for Obama. But Obama is now winning 60 percent of the black vote, according to the latest Washington Post-ABC News poll.

African Americans are expected to make up as much as half of the electorate in South Carolina's primary, and black women as much as 30 percent of it.

Pure propaganda.

Over and over the MSM pretends that Obama is gaining, Hillary losing...then each Primary shows the opposite.

Get real.

Obama is a fall guy. He won’t even be on the Dems’ 2008 ticket.

Obama will win South Carolina, with room to spare.

If Edwards drops out, Hillary could well lose the whole enchilada.

Osamaobama got one more delegate in Nev than the bitch but she beat him 5,600 to 4,800 votes.

Mitt got over 22,000 but the msm continues to pound the line that the demonRATs are more into the race than the pubbies.

If Obama loses SC we will know that is the case. He should beat her soundly.

Obama is nice, but I have never heard a man say so little with so many words.

More and more I am beginning to believe Iowa was an aberration. The (guilty) white libs thought ‘lets give this black guy a chance and show America we are not racists’. But the moment Obama did better than expected, they pulled back.

SC is the acid test for that.

So, I should vote for Giuliani because we’re both Italian?

Should I vote for sHuck because I’m a Baptist?

This shiite is out of control.

Didn’t mean to hijack, sorry.

The Breck Girl is likely going to bargain for Obama’s VP slot in return for endorsement.

The bias against Romney in the news media is blatantly obvious. All one has to do is check the facts for himself regarding vote and delegate totals. You’d never know he’s doing better than anyone else in either party from what you regularly read and hear.

If Obama wins the nomination, that could well happen.

If you WON’T vote for Obama because he’s black - you are a racist and a bigot.

If you won’t vote for clinton because she’s a woman -
you are a sexist and a bigot.

THEREFORE..

Anyone who IS voting for Obama because he IS black is also a racist and a bigot and anyone voting for clinton because they want to see a woman in the White House IS a sexist and a bigot.

Surely, it works both ways

“Obama is nice, but I have never heard a man say so little with so many words.”

Add to that the fact that what he says, and then what he turns around and does, are total opposites. (aka “Race has no place in this campaign” 2 days a later an ad in NV in Spanish “Hillary hates Latin people!”). Ok that was dishonest. What the ad actually said, in Spanish, was “Hillary doesn’t want us to be able to vote.” Just 2 days after his no race-baiting pledge. *sigh*

Thank God I’m not a liberal. Too much scorekeeping.
