A speech by abortionist Alberto Hodari, captured on video and posted on YouTube and the Students for Life of America Web site, has put the controversial physician in the spotlight once more.
In 2004, a 15-year-old girl, Tamia Russell, died the day after getting an abortion at Hodari's Detroit clinic, WomanCare. The medical examiner called the infection that killed Russell, who was six months pregnant, a "normal" post-abortion condition. In 2007, Hodari spoke to the media about the "dangers" of banning partial-birth abortion.
The clinic reported Russell claimed to be 19 and was brought to the clinic by her 24-year-old boyfriend's sister. The parents were not notified -- a legal requirement in Michigan for underage girls seeking an abortion.
In the video of his Nov. 9, 2007 speech at Wayne State University in Detroit, Hodari said:
"I'm not joking. I believed because it was new, we used to let the boyfriend or husbands come into the room when we were doing the abortion. It was that they heard that Caesarian section or doctors allowed husbands in the delivery room. When I came to America, nowhere. They wouldn't even let me go see my wife deliver a baby and I was a doctor. 'Now you, stay outside.' So gradually it became we were very modern we let the boyfriends come in and they all passed out. And more, one sued me because he fall, he broke his tooth, he sued me. And so what do I do now if somebody comes? The state says 'no.' The state doesn't say 'no', but I blame the state. They don't bother to check with the state. My wife says we doctors have a license to lie, and it's true. It's absolutely true. Sometimes you need to lie to a patient about things they want to do or no."

"It was terrifying to see a medical professional with so little regard for human life," Joanie Barrett, a founding member of Students for Life of America at Wayne State and one of about 20 pro-life student activists who attended Hodari's speech, told Cybercast News Service."He said he never feels bad or guilty about his work, which includes performing abortions on viable babies, babies who are old enough to live outside the womb."
The staff at WomanCare told Cybercast News Service that Hodari is out of the country. Attempts to reach him by e-mail were also unsuccessful.
Barrett said she is disappointed that knee surgery prevented her from joining the largest gathering of Students for Life in America to date in preparation for next Tuesday's March for Life on Capitol Hill.
Kristan Hawkins, executive director of Students for Life of America, an Arlington, Va.-based non-profit, told Cybercast News Service that more than 800 pro-life students from around the country attended the pre-March for Life convention on Sunday at Catholic University.
The 35th March for Life will take place from noon to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 22, beginning at 7th St. and Madison, N.W. in Washington, D.C.
Nazis and Communists have made the very same statement and have the same mindset as they went about their business...
I thought “safe legal rare” abortions were supposed to end botched abortions.
There can be no “consent” to sex when a minor is under the age of consent (and often impregnated by an older male who also pays for the abortion) and there can be no consent to a medical waiver regarding risks by a minor who is under 18 and unable to provide the legally required signature for such risky services.
The “pro-choice at any price” crowd killed this girl. Not some boogeyman with a rusty wire coathanger.

The boyfriend committed an act of statutory rape (15 and 24 year old couple) and his sister engaged in a conspiracy to cover up the crime resulting in the death of the girl.
If Tamia Russell had purchased beer without properly identifying herself and had subsequently become drunk and had killed herself, I would not want to be the convenience store clerk telling the police that she “had claimed to be old enough”.
That clerk would be going to jail.
