Gaza: hundreds of Palestinians into Egyptian territory

GAZA - Hundreds of residents of the Gaza Strip Wednesday morning entered into Egyptian territory after a series of explosive devices have opened holes in the wall separating the Palestinian territories from Egypt, witnesses said.

The Egyptian security forces along the border had not yet taken place, according to witnesses.

This massive influx occurred in the aftermath of a demonstration organized by Hamas at the point of entry into Egypt from Rafah to protest against the blockade of the Gaza Strip imposed by Israel.

A few hours after the event, a series of explosions had opened at least five holes in the wall separating the Gaza Strip from Egyptian territory, according to witnesses.

Since Jan. 17, Israel imposed a total blockade of the Gaza Strip in response to the increasing number of Palestinian rocket from the south of its territory. The Israeli army has conducted parallel operations against armed groups in Gaza, which resulted in 38 deaths since January 15.

Tuesday, ahead of the criticisms of the international community who feared a humanitarian crisis in a poor territory of 1.5 million people, Israel has loosened its stranglehold authorizing the delivery of 360,000 litres of fuel oil for the sole power of the band Gaza.

The Palestinian territory is under the administration of Hamas since June 2007.

Kinda funny they are using explosives against the Egyptians. That must really tell you how anxious they are to face the Israeli army.

The Palestinians seem to be in a competition with the Pakistanis for the coveted title of “Allah’s Cockroaches”..

So will we now see Egypt roll out the Egyptian army with their M1 Abrahms?

I doubt it. Egyptian tanks on the border might be a violation of the peace treaty between Egypt and Israel.

Great, let Egypt take care of their brothers, the Palestinians, the maggots of the mid-east.

They say its dangerous to make lists but if they ever made a list of peoples by contribution to mankind, the palies woud be ranked near or at the bottom.

Oddly enough the Palis, especially the diaspora, used to be one of, if not the most, educated and productive arab group in the world. You might argue that that's like being the tallest member of the lollipop guild but still...

Some examples here

Just wanted to add that I’m talking about *before* oslo. It’s been a horrible decline since.

I guess we’ll get a front row seat for the unshakable Islamic solidarity that’s sure to come. Maybe Jordan can help Egypt out with their new Pali friends?

Yeah, here's one of the credits:

The Palis didn't stay in Egypt. They bought a bunch of stuff and went back through the hole in the wall.

I heard they don’t have any power there so I’m sure they will go buy the real important stuff in Egypt. Guns, explosives, missile parts, etc.............

"In September 2005, following Israel's unilateral disengagement plan, the IDF handed over control of the Philadelphi Route to the Egyptian army"

I guess they don't any more. Big mistake.

Before 1967 the Gaza strip was a part of Egypt.
Israel captured both the Sinai Peninsula and Gaza strip from Egypt during the Six Day War.
In 1979-1980 they negotiated the return of the Sinai Peninsula but Egypt would not take back the Gaza strip.

No one in the whole Arab world wants anything to do with the “Palestinians” other than to use them as surrogates to kill Israelis.
