This is kind of good in that it will give them a few weeks before the State convention to see what real pro-life/pro-Reagan candidate steps up. They are caucusing on principle instead of on just one person.
Thanks for the update. So now the question is, how do the “pro-life, pro-family” delegates lean? Did any candidate do a good job of getting people supporting them onto the set of delegates that were uncommitted?
They are officially ‘uncommitted’ which means they can wait to decide until the State convention, then either pool together or vote independently.
Your point is a good one in that they may still be able to be swung by a candidate or endorsement. For all we know, these could be a lot of Fred or Duncan supporters who don’t like the current crop.
I guess my thought is that I’m a strong pro-life, pro-family person, and maybe I could have gotten picked as one of the delegates they ran in the slate.
But I’m also a Romney supporter, so I’d be likely to pick Romney when we had to choose a candidate.
So the question is, did they specifically look for “uncommitted” delegates, or not? Frankly, I’d be worried about picking people who by this time had no real opinion about which candidate they supported. And if I had been a candidate, I would have worked hard to get people who supported me to run on the pro-life/pro-family slate.
Right now, officially, Uncommitted is first.

This article says McCain first, Paul second.
That’ll likely hold up unless the Provisional ballots
give Ron Paul the victory.
Thank you.
Not exactly, according to the official site that Uncommitted came in first, McCain second, Paul third. This is important because if no candidate gets above 50%, then all delegates officially go to the State convention as uncommitted and cast their lot there independently. Louisiana has an odd system.
