Grandma Arrested At McDonald's Called Officer 'Evil,' Report Says
MSNBC ^

CLEARWATER - The 75-year-old grandmother who was arrested Thursday at a McDonald's on a charge of disorderly conduct gave an officer lip, according to a police report. Jean Merola swore at the officer and said, "You are an evil man. Your wife is going to divorce you. Your kids probably hate you too. You are going to hell," according to the report.

Officer Matthew Parco was behind Merola in line and had received his drink; he asked her to move up so he could get around her but she didn't respond. Parco spent about 20 minutes asking Merola to move the car before she was arrested.

rear bumper.
if that is not the case here,
please enlighten me.

The battle axe got her 5 minutes of fame on Fox News this morning. She is suing. The host asked her “Suing, for what”, and she wouldn’t answer.

And how did it take over 20 minutes to get her the fries with no salt

It didn't. She insisted on sitting there, bloacking everyone else at the drive thru in, while she ate her fries.

Everyone on this thread wringing their hands over the police officer's actions would be screaming bloody murder if they were trapped for twenty minutes behind an insane old bag while she ate her fries.

Possibly...

A sad situation the McDonald’s drive through put everyone in by taking more than 20 minutes to hand a crankly old lady her french fries?

Judging by her alleged reaction, my guess is the cop didn’t politely ask her to move.

I envision “HEY LADY, MOVE THE GD CAR BEFORE I THROW YOUR SORRY A$$ IN JAIL!”

He honked his horn. She then began screaming at him.

I read the story. She sounds like a beyotch with issues. Even so, I don't know what law she violated. If the McDonalds asked her to move, and she refused, the McDonalds could call police and have her removed. If she resisted that, then she could possibly be arrested. I doubt, however, that McDonalds made such a call against a customer in this instance. They try to avoid confrontation. Most likely the cop took it upon himself to do some self-help.

Some people become cops so that they can make jerks (or even non-jerks) do what they want. The rest of us just live with them. Depending on what the missing facts are, the cop's employer may have some liability, and the cop may be in for discipline.

I'm no fan of pushy law enforcement officers, but if an officer asks you to move, you move. You do not begin reciting the "Oh, you're in big trouble now. I know the Chief" speech and refuse to follow a lawful order unless you want to get arrested. Had she been a 35 year old man doing what she did, she'd have been arrested. She deserved to be arrested.

I am with the officer on this one- she WANTED to spend 20 minutes fighting, I am surprise he had THAT much patience.

When he is on patrol and she is blocking him, then argues for 20 minutes, it is time to consider a home for her in happy acres.

The problem was McDonald’s. They took her money, told her to pull up, never mentioned it would take a while.

That peeves ME as well. If there’s a problem with the order, tell me BEFORE you take my money. . .

Actually, they told her to move up and wait for her order, standard practice so they can continue filling orders and make more sales.

She wasn’t just blocking the police officer, she was intefering with their ability to conduct business.

They should make her retake the driving test.

Dial down your meds.

BTW - a restaurant is not only private property, it is also a place of public accomodation under the law.

In a drive-thru? Why should she dare in the first place?
