Duncan Hunter Endorses Mike Huckabee
National Review Online ^ | 1-23-08 | Byron York

Posted on 01/23/2008 12:29:02 PM PST by TitansAFC

This was a surprise. From the Hunter statement:

"I got to know Governor Huckabee well on the campaign trail," said Hunter. "Of the remaining candidates I feel that he is strongly committed to strengthening national defense, constructing the border fence and meeting the challenge of China's emergence as a military superpower that is taking large portions of America‚s industrial base."

"Along with these issues of national security, border enforcement and protecting the U.S. industrial base, I see another quality of Mike Huckabee's candidacy that compels my endorsement. Mike Huckabee is a man of outstanding character and integrity. I saw that character over the last year of campaigning and was greatly impressed. The other Republican candidates have many strengths and I wish them all well. My personal choice is Mike Huckabee," Hunter concluded.

I could never, ever vote for John “Mr. Amnesty” McCain. Some say he is the Stealth Candidate. He will never make it. Posters here commented that his wife had to help him off the plane. You can bet the media will not show that scene.

I don’t think he is up to the job either. There is a LOT about him that is scary.

WTF, over?

I’m without words... almost.

When Huckster’s money evaporates, and he drops out, then WHO will HE endorse? Will that individual thus receive a defacto endorsement by Hunter? The GOP is 100 percent lost. I think I will just stay home in November.

“... he’s another Tancredo betraying all those suckers who have supported him even though he had NO Chance.”

I do not agree with your insinuation against Tancredo. He did something very important: He made the immigration issue front and center, so the other candidates could not side-step away from it. That is the only reason he entered the race. For that effort, Tancredo deserves admiration and respect.

Good to hear. Mike Huckabee scares me but not nearly as much as John McCain, the Stealth Candidate. Does anyone know if McCain’s money is running out?

When it comes to illegal aliens, Mitt Romney is much, much better on this issue than the others.

...just hold your nose and vote for the nominee. That’s what it has come down to, which in my estimation is pretty sad.

Reality check? Yes, here is the reality check; nobody like Ronald Reagan or even close to Ronald Reagan will be the nominee. Get set for Gerald Ford (and 20-60 million new nonenglish speaking ‘citizens’ who have not completed high school).

Huck must have offered him the VP spot if he gets the nomination. Its the only possible explanation I can think of.

McCain must be running out of money. His own mother told the press that McCain can’t fight the republican party. That means he’s not getting money from core republicans imo.

Well, sigh. I kind of knew this day would come, much as I hoped it wouldn’t.

Duncan and Fred are gone, and all that is left are the Republicrats.

We can have:
* a flip flopping slick weasel
* a morally degenerate cross-dresser
* a nanny-state God-guy
* a decrepit border-killer liberal

SIGH, and a thousand times SIGH!

The only reason I can see as to why Hunter would do this is to expand his standing outside the base. Maybe he felt he needs more support from RINO’s in future endeavors?? If someone like Hunter or Fred could attract a larger chunk of the RINO vote, that only increases the chance of getting more conservatives on the ticket. This is just my guess. Otherwise I don’t know what the hell Duncan is doing.

This is like a bizzarro world election. Up is now down. C A T spells dog. I’m beginning to wonder if I’m a moonbat and the DUmmies are Freepers. Mommy will you order me Pizza?? I’m too busy e-mailing Pelosi to impeach Bush. WTF??!!!

Duncan Hunter just took a BIG nose dive with this endorsement. Duncan’s credibility is gapping big time. Hopefully any Hunter supporters out there have a lot more wisdom and discernment than he has.

Hunter didn’t file for re-election for his seat in Congress, so his political career is over.

I think this was his way of sticking his middle finger at his supporters for not supporting him enough. It certainly was not for any political advantage. Huck isn’t going to win the nomination, and this hardly helps him secure a cabinet position with the eventual nominee.

Either Hunter is just angry, or he’s insane. He’s clearly not being rational.

what is his stand? What is Huckabee's,... McCain's? What have they done in the past to fix it? What do they say they will do now?
