Kucinich calls for Bush impeachment (on the House floor where personal attacks are forbidden)

Kucinich calls for Bush impeachment
Updated: Jan 23, 2008 03:52 PM CST

NATIONAL (NBC) - Ohio Congressman Dennis Kucinich may get excluded from Democratic presidential debates, but he's voicing his opinion on the House floor.

On Wednesday, Kucinich announced he'll be filing articles of impeachment against President Bush on Monday.

That's the same day of the president's State of the Union address.

The announcement comes as Kucinich railed the President and Vice President for how they have handled the war in Iraq.

In his lengthy statement, the Ohio congressman said, "The President and Vice President lied and 4,000 of our soldiers died. The President and Vice President lied and a million innocent Iraqis died in a war that'll cost us $2 trillion while people here in the states are losing their jobs, their health care, their homes, their dignity. Lies are weapons of mass destruction. Lies are also an impeachable offense. Monday, January 28th is the State of the Union. We already know the State of the Union, it's a lie."

After minor commotion on the floor and opposition by Republicans, the ostracized presidential candidate moved to have his words taken off the record.

Kucinich said, "I ask unanimous consent to withdraw the offending words, to the end that they be stricken from the record and that I be permitted to revise and extend my remarks for the record."

Last April and November, Kucinich almost had the House debating the impeachment of Vice President Cheney.

House Democratic leaders blocked the debate by referring the impeachment effort back to the judiciary committee.

They all know there will be no impeachment so it’s all talk to rile the base.

What, you get do-overs in Congress? Does Bush get any do-overs?

Dennis ought to stick to stuff he knows - antigravity drives and Nazi moon bases.

I missed the live event. Was Kookcinich wearing his tinfoil hat? Did he arrive via the yellow brick road with the rest of the munchkins?

This guy is a loon. A genuine, certifiable, howling-at-the-moon lunatic. But, we can’t seem to get him out of Ohio. He represents a district in Cleveland, so that might explain some of the issue...folks drinking too much lake water, up there.

I’d much rather have Bush’s enemies call for impeachment and then let everyone duke it out, on the record, in public.

Much better than whisper campaigns of “it’s Bush’s fault” and “fire can’t melt steel” and “Bush lied-people died”. It’s hard to combat so many low key, ubiquitous propaganda efforts.

In an impeachment trial, though, Bush can stand up and say, “Just what did I lie about?”

What, you get do-overs in Congress?

They not only get do-overs, they get never-dids. Probably a third of the Congressional Record is speeches and statements never actually delivered but inserted for the vanity of special interests by venal congresscrooks.

LMAO

The have to equate Bush to Clinton in the public’s eyes in order for broom Hillary to win in November.

Brace yourselves guys; that party is being controlled by nuts.

Being required to submit to polygraphs, mental health evaluations, personal credit checks and drug tests should become the norm for our politicians.

Most of the leaders of our country are simply not fit for duty.

I was just thinking today that all of our Congressmen and women, Senators and President and VP should be required to have served in some branch of the military.

I hope that would somehow give our politicians a more realistic POV.

On the other hand,......it could ruin the military.

After all, look at Weasely Clark.

I wouldn't wish that on out troops - however, they should be required to go through boot and a minimum of a two week embed in battle.
