I wonder what the evidence is that he was fired for being Christian? That would be really remarkable if it were true.

It would be much more common for someone to get fired for scientific differences. For example if you believed the earth was only a few thousand years old you couldn’t be much of a biologist because of the tremendous number of established branches of science you would have to disbelieve.

Another side to the story

>>Another side to the story<<

If that story is accurate, no wonder he got fired. The position was as a developmental biology and he didn’t believe in development. Evolution is fundamental to biology, particularly developmental biology.

Still doesn't the address the question of how a US government funded study has anything whatsoever to do with the question of the employee's religious beliefs.

The US government is simply not empowered by the US Constitution to make such inquiries, and when it passes along the federal dollar (my money BTW), it does not thereby pass along the authority for the recipient to begin making religious inquiries.

It's pretty obvious Dr. Hahn is very little different than the sort you'd find running a "confessional" during the Spanish Inquisition.

Such people are not qualified to handle federal money (my money).

But on Nov. 17, Hahn asked him to resign, pointing out in the letter that Abraham should have known of evolution's centrality to the project because it was evident from the job advertisement and grant proposal.

Hardly a search for truth... as evolution was the only accepted criteria.... Government funded myths top down is what does keep this system of methodology functioning.

He took an evolutionary biology job and then announced he doesn’t do evolution.

That reminds me of the Muslim who sued the grocery store for discrimination because he was fired for refusing to check out pork products.

Was he discriminated against for being a Muslim or did he take a job knowing he could not fulfill the requirements?

Why does government fund evolutionary biology? Evolutionary is a religious term.

They fund fish research for the same reason they fund medical research. And both involve evolution for the same reason -because that is how biology works. If you want science to work (and there is no point in funding science that doesn’t work) you have to go where the evidence goes. And the evidence is that developmental biology produces results.

If creation biology produced new useful findings and helped with medical advances it would likely get funded.

DNA alone disproves what most in 'creation' biology try to claim. Their inaccuracy is not evidence that there was this controlled evolution with out a controller.

Did the truth about what actually happened come out since this was first posted a couple weeks ago?

That is a different issue - I don’t think anyone is claiming that they have proved the absence of a designer. If they have, they should not be claiming that.

These are the same idiots that think the Catholic Church shafted Galileo.

I guess Orthodoxy is blind.

How dare they treat Cheech like that!

Woods Hole is 'all wet' on this and I hope they pay dearly ..... both monetarily and otherwise.
