Funny, a few years ago a college professor friend of mine (who is also of Montenegrin descent) went to some symposium in Turkey. The Turks asked her about her last name, and she told that her family was Montenegrin. She said after that, they couldn't do enough for her. (She had been fearing the exact opposite!) "Great warriors, those Montenegrins! They gave us a terrible hard time. Couldn't defeat them."

Zorka came away with precisely that same feeling -- they have more respect for a worthy enemy than they do for someone who tries to manipulate and appease them.

It does look like the Russians won the Balkans War and that victory came cheaply..

I just hope the average Serb doesn’t get the dirty end of the stick out of all of this, they have suffered enough, the whole region has, and the EU trying to swipe Kosovo is simply disgusting.

Actually that’s a very interesting article.

Seeing the ecumenical Patriarch’s role through Muslim eyes, I can understand why they might feel threatened — only because Islam “combines politics and religion” and seeks dominance over other religions, and they can’t imagine that Orthodox Christianity wouldn’t combine those elements and compete for dominance, too.

Well, Russians haven't won Balkans, US and EU policies served Russians Balkan on the silver plate.
The reasoning of Greeks and Bulgarians was simple:

1. We can do bossiness with Russia
2. Russia wont slam us with political demands
3. US and EU are destroying Christian Orthodox Serbia
4. We (Bulgarians and Greeks) are also Orthodox Christians
5. US and EU are supporting Muslims
6. We also have Muslim problem (Bulgarians islamised and Greece have Turkish problem and Cyprus)
7. Although we are members of NATO, Serbs were allies of US and Europe in both world wars, that didn't stopped US and EU from destroying them.
8. All we care basically is security of our nations, from any foe.
