He's what I call a "half-conservative." Rudy is also a "half-conservative." But they're opposite. Huck is great on a few very important issues. He is dead wrong on a lot of other very important issues, like taxes, immigration, defense, spending, and the role of government.

By comparison, Rudy is great on defense, good on taxes and spending, also wrong on role of government to some degree, and wrong on gays, guns, and abortion.

Huckabee’s band has performed twice at inaugural events sponsored by FreeRepublic.com, a right-wing forum known for its extreme views. After 2001’s “Count the White House Silverware Party,” Huckabee posted a message on the forum calling himself a “confirmed and proud Freeper.”

We're extremists???? Just... Wow. Dumbasses.

As a Fredhead looking for a candidate, Huckabee proved to me last night he is NOT THE ONE I would choose to fix the economy.

On the same day my Wife and I were pondering how to use our stimulus package Tax Rebate to stimulate the economy - Huckabee tells us in last nights debate that he thinks it would be better spent adding 2 lanes to a highway on the East Coast. Oh yea, now that’s a great way to stimulate the economy in fly-over country and out here on the West Coast - Not.

Wait, that’s sarcasm, right?...Here’s the difference as I see it. Paul supported his ministry by making tents. He didn’t stop his ministry to make tents full time. If someone’s an ordained minister, that ought to be the primary focus.

>>What’s he doing in politics?<<

The same thing that the lawyers, the soldiers, the farmers, the teachers, the businessmen, the tailors, the editors, the authors, and the actors have done. Lead a nation. ,

A socialist and a quack. I am so sick of his good-old-boy quips and metaphors. He makes me gag. Even worse, he has completely pulled in some of the religious right. Don’t they see through his act? And that is literally all he has, an act!

He wants to provide amnesty to illegals. He wants to send their children to college for FREE, and he wants all children to have universal health care. Explain, how is he not socialist?

Government cannot establish a religion or prevent the free exercise of religion. That doesn’t mean religious people can’t run for office. Regarding Article VI — “but no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States” also doesn’t mean that religious people can’t run for office.

Your are correct. It means, moreover, that it is unconstitutional to prevent Huckabee or Romney from running for office because of their religion.

It doesn't disqualify them. It qualifies them.

there are legitimate complaints about Huckabee like hinting at universal health and his immigration past performance

but his lack of foreign policy is a very weak argument ...and I don’t care much what Condi say to be honest, she is part of an administration that has left conservatism decimated

Reagan had never run foreign policy either.

He is endorsed by Duncan Hunter who is a serious opponent of amnesty for illegals and a strong proponent of the fence. Hunter was also the strongest pro-life candidate with the record to prove it.

1. Huckabee admits his error on amnesty and pledges to it by signature.

2. Romney admits his error on life and strongly claims he’ll support it.

Knowing both of them from the campaign trail, Duncan Hunter chooses to believe Huckabee over Romney.

Hunter sent us the clue that we needed.

Romney was (snd still is) much higher in the Mormon Church than Huckabee was in the Baptist Church.

I didn't know that...In reality I suppose there's no difference, so to be consistent I would have to ask the same question about Romney. I guess if I were a Mormon I'd be more concerned about what Romney was doing in politics.

As a responsible and free adult, I’m tired of others deciding and telling us what we can and cannot do. Enough of the nanny state already.

Article VI and the 1st Amendment. Government is not the place for religion.

U.S. Constitution - Article 6

Article 6 - Debts, Supremacy, Oaths

All Debts contracted and Engagements entered into, before the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be as valid against the United States under this Constitution, as under the Confederation.

This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding.

The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.

I suppose you refer to the religious test section. Sounds to me like maybe you are in violation, not Huckabee.

I don’t care who he is endorsed by. Hitlery is endorsed by NOW, and I will not vote for her because I am a woman! Endorsements prove very little. It’s like six degrees of separation.

I like Huckabee more than most of my fellow hard rightists.

It’s vexing.
