FOLSOM, Pennsylvania (AP) -- The skies won't seem especially friendly to anyone taking off from Philadelphia International Airport if they notice what a suburban couple wrote on the roof of their home.
"(Expletive) U FAA," the message reads, though one letter of the profane word is substituted with an underline. Below that it is a picture of a plane with a slash through it and the words "no fly zone."
Homeowner Michael Hall and his girlfriend, Michaelene Buddy, are angry that jets have been flying over their house since last month, when the Federal Aviation Administration altered departures heading out of Philadelphia. Hall says he has to sleep with earplugs.

Second of all, if you live near an airport, don't be surprised when planes fly over your head!

That’s why they should just have deaf people live in houses near airports.
Bummer, don’t live near an airport.
Duh.
Don’t think that’s even considered obscene in Philadelphia. More like a common everyday greeting.
Right after my dad and mom got a divorce, my dad lived right on the main drag with a railroad right outside his back door and he was right at the end of a runway of our local airport.
One of the first places I lived when I got out on my own was in front of our local fire department. The fire department blew the siren every day at noon and made my windows buzz in their frames.
Hey Buddy
Move.
Around here we have people who buy homes next to highways then bitch and scream constantly about the highway noise.
That’s ok though it seems lately my tax money is building these giant walls up and down the freeways and exit ramps for miles and miles for these poor victims.
I do have a tiny bit of sympathy, since the noise wasn’t the same as when they moved in. HOWEVER, this is not an appropriate response. AND, if you don’t want any airport noise, don’t even consider living close to the airport, since landing/takeoff patterns can and do change. My parents lived about a half-mile from railroad tracks, and the train noise changed from year to year dependent on the economy. Some summers, there was a train every 45 minutes - others, you could sleep with the windows open all night and not hear a thing. You choose to live near something like this, you take a risk.
Michael and his girlfriend at their house...
Don’t people get married any more?
When did that airport pop up anyhow??
duhhhhhhhh
I don’t live far from Michigan International Speedway. Every year we get to listen to the whine that rises up from those who have moved in after the place was built in 69.

Photoshopped version to take out a few selected letters.

they dont live that close to the airport. what the faa did was complete crap. i live near where these folks live. the faa changed the flight patterns from having all the planes fly over the delaware river then fanning out when they reached a certain altitude, to them fanning out at much lower altitudes, shortly after takeoff. this brings the plane flight patterns directly over tens of thousands of homes. the families who live in these communities have lived here for generations, way before the airport was built. its an absolute disgrace and the noise from these planes will reduce the quality of living and property values of all who live near the new patterns. all this to save a few seconds a day.
weldon would have never let this happen. thanks joe sestak.
You beat me to it.
Well in this guys defense it does sound like they have altered the flight paths just recently. My local airport did that for a while a few years back and I wasn’t a happy camper either.
Nice house; did they rehab a 7-11 or something?
Too bad. Buy a house near the airport, expect planes.
Idiots.
they altered the patterns a few weeks ago. the noise is terrible.
Still, you take that risk by living near an airport.
Three rules of real estate....location, location, location.
Oops, now I see the Photoshop traces. Still, it’s their house...freedom of speech and all that.
I agree, it’s silly to complain about airport noise when one lives close to the airport. Heck, we live 15 miles from our airport, but we are on the inbound side some of the times. I don’t mind the noise, but I’ve really gotta stop watching them till they fly out of sight, just to make sure they don’t blow up or crash!!
Right, they did that at my airport for a few weeks. There was a ____ load of complaints to the airport, television station and newspaper about it. Thankfully it didn’t last that long and the planes now take a more straight and natural approach to the airport.
On a somewhat related note, the Philadelphia Airport is one of the worst I’ve flown out of and been through.
ditto
You live near there? If so I feel for you. I hope they change it back to the original path for you like they did at our airport. Good luck
youre an idiot - i guess being a mets fan will do that. 5 miles aint that close to an airport.
They could paint “suck it up” on the bottom of the planes.
In general, I don't like the coarsening of society but really, who are you to say that? It is an effective attention getter and since it's directed at government and just words, I'll give it a pass.
Hey at least they aren’t building mock ups of HAWK Surface to Air Missiles that track large loud sound sources.
i appreciate it. all we can do is keep fighting. i know that if weldon was still our congressman, this would have never happened. i guess the people get what they vote for in the end.
Look at this picture showing some of the missing letters.
I used to live in SW Seattle, right between Boeing Field and Sea-Tac. All 747’s, all the time.
I had little kids, though, so the noise level in my house drowned out the planes landing and taking off.

To emphasize for those who know nothing about the screwing the FAA is running against all our lives -- whether you live near an airport or not. But then, FACTS don't matter to Dems.
Ping for Trib's list.
Thanks, I did correct myself upthread.
My only problem with your current picture is:
That poor lady needs more bangs! Or maybe just a smile? LOL!
Not the kind of people who put obscene signs on their home.
For all to consider. What if you lived nowhere near an airport. But the Air Force decided to change its training flight plans so that jets rumbled directly over your house frequently, at low altitudes, making lots of noise.
Would you have a legit beef?
I’m surprised at the posts I’m reading here on FR. OK, this was an inappropriate response, but the guy tried to call the FAA. Youd think Freepers would understand someone getting frustrated with a bloated bureaucracy.
That St. Maarten airport is crazy!
Speaking of idiot.... I’m not a mets fan... that’s not what the *met* stands for.
Yeah I know I’m struggling with which side to take in the Wesley Snipes / IRS fight. Its vampires fighting vampires.
