This is rugged country. He’s lucky the posse didn’t decorate a lamp post with him.
Alaska Where the Men are men, the women are scarce and the moose are afraid.
Where the nights are long and the days are long.
Where mosquitos are so big they can spear sheep.
I’ve been to Alaska twice and love the place. (my wife hates the cold and will not set foot in it, even in summer)
Since Alaska does not require a permit for CCW, the robber could have wound up at room temp pretty quick.
The area where this went down is one of the seeder parts of town on the edge of the ‘downtown’ AO, lots of bars, halfways houses and so on. After 6 pm it’s pretty empty except for barflys, drunks and the homeless/bums. Much worse in the summer. There are a few Tony joints, but after 10 pm, even they are pretty empty.....
I hope some citizen’s committee gives these upstanding citizens some sort of award, dinner, or appreciation of some sort.
We need to encourage this type of citizen involvement in the community.
Unlikely to happen, the cops do not like freelancers.
Calling in tips or following and staying on cell phone leading the cops to bad guy is good form.
I listen to the scanner (not much on the commercial radio) the local cops will generally have a bad guy in the backof the patrol car with 15 min IF they get a good description and dot.
Anchorage is has a small footprint. something like 8 miles by 10 miles.
