I think it’s a variation on that. I think the driversby see hillary getting the rat nod but still losing the election with such high negs. So they want the next best from us which is McGeezer.

Nope, daughter Liz Cheney endorsed Romney. Did Bill say Lynne? Maybe he mis-spoke.

Was it just me, or was FNS pushing McCain to the max?
And it appeared Juan Williams is jealous of soul bro Obama...:)

Senators who know McCain ....

Proamnesty RINO Mel Martinez and liberal Democrat Lieberman are for McCain.

Conservative Senator Jim DeMint has endorsed Romney:

http://www.humanevents.com/rightangle/index.php?p=19396&gd=01092007

SSenators Robert Bennett (R-UT), Wayne Allard (R-CO), Jim DeMint (R-SC), Judd Gregg (R-NH) and Orrin Hatch (R-UT).

Now Senator Thad Cochran joins them:
http://www.mittromney.com/News/Press-Releases/Endorsement_Cochran

Other endorsements: Judge Robert Bork, Tom Tancredo, Paul Weyrich, National Review, Ann Coulter, many others

Rep Connie Mack IV, Bob Jones III
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2007/10/17/romney-gets-two-endorsements/

We see a trend - conservatives endorse Romney, Liberals and RINOs endorse McCain.

“McCain dismissed Cochran as a notorious pork barrel politician who is one of his enemies.”

Yes, funny how McCain has conservative Republican enemies and liberal Democrat friends.

A lot of folks will scream and holla at this, but I am seeing that Romney has many of Reagan’s skills, e.g., the one you just mentioned: communication.

That candidate to stop McCain and be the consensus Republican candidate for President has emerged:

Mitt Romney.

It sure looked to me like FNS wanted to give anyone but Romney a boost this morning. Oh, and apparently, Giuliani doesn’t exist.

RUSH has been on this drive-by media bias like white on rice. They have been shilling for Huck and shilling for McCain for the past 2 months. The BEST candidate we have, which is obvious if you look at his consensus conservative agenda, his great resume of accomplishments, his fine family, his skeleton-free closet, and his great debate performances ... is clearly Mitt Romney. The media will bring up as much FUD as they can to highlight the great RINO McCain and the enabler of his success, Huck-the-divider-of-conservative-base-votes, and obscure the much better Romney.

Annoy the media. Vote Romney.

AND, let’s see who gets face time in the media tomorrow.
I predict it will be all McCain all the time, with maybe a catty remark or two about Romney.

“I don’t think Huckabee is all that viable as a VP candidate, because he doesn’t bring all that much to the ticket.”

If you consider the pro-life/pro-gun wing of the base as “not much”?

My feeling, since I don't believe Huckabee is sincere about any position he takes, is that in the long run he wouldn't deliver either the pro-life or the pro-gun types, except for ones who are easily fooled.  Again, I don't think that Huckabee believes anything he's saying, nor has he ever.  He's a con man.  I've seen all too many of them in the evangelical movement, folks like Jim Bakker.  There are too many like that and far too few like Billy Graham or his son Franklin (or my late Uncle William).  And it's not new.  Think of Aimee Semple McPherson or any of a thousand charlatans through history, such as Simon Magus.

There are lots of folks who invoke the name of Jesus who aren't truly followers of Jesus, regardless of what church they attend.

Huckabee is Jimmy Carter, not Ronald Reagan.  He'll talk a good game until he gets elected, then watch out.  I have a friend who was in his church when Huckabee was still a minister.  He really liked him and thought highly of him.  But he insists that Huckabee changed when he became governor.  We talked for awhile and decided that the "bad" Huckabee that emerged as Governor was the real person and that the "good" Huckabee from his ministry was the act.  Huckabee's just putting on his old act again.

"But back to the point of Mrs. Cheney, she was national co-chairman of the Thompson campaign and a political animal in her own right so that's a plus, particularly as a thumbs up on foreign policy know-how for Mitt."

Conservative fred-heads for Romney.

Yes, but never forget that Ross Perot was the most successful (almost) 3rd party candidate ever. He really hurt Bush. In fact, he killed him the first time.

Clinton would never have been elected without Perot.

He was motitivated by hatred of Bush senior. I never knew what it was, but recent speculation was that it had to do with Viet Nam prisoners and a fight about getting them out/or not.

I really hope Fred does not endorse McCain.

I so don’t want to be disillusioned about Fred. I know he’s a good friend with McCain, but he has to be aware of McCain’s bad positions on many issues.

We got an odd endorsement out of Duncan Hunter that proved a ten thousand post thread (sort of) on this site. Someone joked that there were more posts on that thread than Hunter received in all the primaries combined, which was just about true.

Anyway, I hope he endorses nobody or Mitt.

The pro-gun wing is as big or bigger than the pro-life is.

That is the reason I think Romney or Rooty nomination = Landslide loss in Nov.

I have a very good path into the grass roots activists in the NRA across the South (that's apparently an actual, official position in the NRA political action group) and they seem to be settling around Romney as there best bet in the field that's left.  They hate McCain with a passion, largely over McCain/Feingold, because it was targeted at them, among others.  They think Huckabee is cuckoo or all too easily portrayed as cuckoo.

The folks in more absolutist groups, like some of those in GOA, are trending towards Ron Paul, of all things.
