An NRA non-member. :=) I am as well.
The difference that I see is that 1) Mitt didn't support gun rights earlier in his political career, 2) he recently and conveniently joined the NRA just in time for his campaign and 3) he uses the vague term life-long member incorrectly, implying that he's always been a member. Doing that slips right by anyone who's not paying close attention.
That explains why there are contradictory statements and rumors regarding Thompson. His legal advisors have gone to Romney's campaign, along with a lot of staff, so it would make little sense for Thompson to endorse McCain if all his supporters are of the mind to go for Romney.
I don't know that the moves that his staff have made are that good an indication of what Fred will do. Until he endorses someone, I'll take him at his word that he's not endorsing anybody, at least not yet. It would greatly surprise me if he were to endorse McCain though. The rumors of his endorsing McCain have been going on for quite some time, possibly before Iowa.
Either lazy, cheap or stupid. Take your pick.
Sounds like a demonRAT saying that they "support the troops".
If you don't support the NRA with your money, to say you "support" guns rights are just meaningless words.
BTW, guns don't have rights, people have the right to own guns.
Join the NRA, and then post that you "support" the right of people to own and carry guns.
