Guess who booed a black pastor at a Martin Luther King, Jr. rally? In his Stoplight video commentary, Stuart Shepard delves into the exceptionally rude behavior exhibited at a Washington [state] high school.

maybe we should guess, just to make it fun.
A) Racist students
B) Skinhead students
C) Liberal teachers
I guessed right, but I won’t say what I guessed because that would give it away...
Thanks for posting this. First time I’ve seen that web site. Looks like a good one.
Good video at the link.
Thanks for the post.
wild guess: a lesbian teacher?
One of my cousins is in student government there.
The story gets BETTER!
It wasn’t the kids who initiated the booing.
It was TWO TEACHERS!!!!!!!
One of the student government officers brought this fact, verified by the principal of the school, up to the principal with the observation, “Had this been something done by a student, you’d have suspended them in a heartbeat. I’m interested to know what you plan to do with these teachers.”
Pastor Hutchinson had been asked NOT to talk about his politics in speaking at the school, and had kept his pledge. The incident was brought on by a shouted question from the teachers.
I don’t know anything else, and haven’t talked to this person since she babysat for us a couple of weeks ago.
I was surprised to see it up here on FR. Welcome to the People’s Soviet of Washington State.
(It’s “Hutcherson”)
Superintendents Aune and Richter,
Pastor Hutcherson had been asked not to talk about his politics in speaking at the school, and had kept his pledge. The incident was brought on by a shouted question from the teachers. Had this been something done by a student, youd have suspended that student in a heartbeat. Im interested to know what you plan to do with these misbehaving teachers. I’d also like to point out that Rev. Hutcherson has asked what would have happened if Christian teachers (are there any in “public” schools any more?) had booed and interrogated a homosexual couple who had been invited to the school to speak about, say, gourmet cooking or interior decoration.

ping for viewing after work...
This was a big topic of discussion last week on the local shows on KVI radio. They gave it lots of attention.
So far not one mention in any of the main local TV press, that I’ve seen.

Say WA? Evergreen State ping
FReepmail sionnsar if you want on or off this ping list.
Ping sionnsar if you see a Washington state related thread.
self ping
THAT and the Indians!
True. Between the Gay money and the Indian Casino money, any Dem candidate needs to all but do a lapdance for both constituencies.
Great post. Thanks for finding it.
Bingo.
The ELCA is rapidly sliding into the sewer too.
Washington State is a one-party dictatorship. We haven’t had a Republican governor since 1980 (notice I didn’t say “elected” a governor) and the GOP has apparently given up hope of ever having a majority in either half of the legislature, settling for the biggest minority they can get. We being are taxed and regulated out of our homes, our vehicles, and our land. The teachers’ unions control public education. If you have a concealed carry permit, don’t ever let it expire. Those are bound to come under attack at some point.
I was born here but as soon as I am able to retire, I’m long gone.
Remember also that the income tax will come to Washington even before they take away the concealed carry permits.
Does anyone have info on what happened at the school board meeting? I’m pretty certain that Lake Washington is one of those school districts in which booing at sporting events is forbidden, I find it remarkable that teachers would be able to do this blatant act. Notice I said “remarkable”, not surprising.
I plan on contacting both the principal of the school as well as the school board.
Presented at the January 24, 2008 School Board Meeting
Statement from the School Board of Directors
RE: Martin Luther King Day Assembly and Response at Mount Si High School
As the Snoqualmie Valley School Board, we take very seriously our stewardship role in making
sure that all of our schools provide a safe learning environment for students and staff.
As a democratic nation, we enjoy the right to free speech and the luxury to share our individual
beliefs and opinions. As a public school system in this country, we are charged with the
opportunity to create a learning environment that appropriately prepares our students to live in
a free-thinking society, without undue disruption or losing sight of our primary charter. This
charter is to deliver a rigorous and challenging curriculum in a way that meets the needs of a
diverse student body.
As a public school board, we cannot and will not take a position on the events of last week with
regard to individual political or religious views. However, we do take seriously our charge to
create a safe learning environment for all students and staff, where mutual respect and
tolerance are embraced and demonstrated in our classrooms and all other school-related
activities.
Each and every one of us who plays a role in the school system (school board, district
administration, teachers and support staff) must take seriously the responsibility we have to
demonstrate acceptance and tolerance for all. This is our charge and we must live it every
day.
Our students are watching, listening and learning from each and every one of us. What do we
want our message to be? As a board, we want that message to be that we respect and honor
each and every one of our students. We take seriously our responsibility to support each of our
students and their educational experience.
We will be monitoring and supporting Principal Taylor and Superintendent Aune in their efforts
to ensure that Mount Si High School is a safe place for students to learn and staff to teach.
It is still okay to boo at sporting events in our district. We tend to be a bit less PC than other places (usually ... but changing). The principal said that any disciplining of the teachers would be private. His letter is here:
http://www.mountsihighschool.com/news/letter.pdf
The teacher that interrupted Pastor Ken is the faculty advisor to the GLB? (can’t remember their letters) club. No word on if she’s a lesbian (she has a very nice, well-adjusted son), but she is very proud of the fact that she is the product of two mommies.
What’s worse is that Pastor Ken’s daughter is in her AP English class!!
Okay, this makes more sense, for whatever reason, I thought this was LWSD. I am so particularily disgusted by this behaviour, I don’t know why— it’s predictible. I am sick of the indoctrination that goes on in public schools, and find the state of government schooling to be one of the greatest threats to our nation.
Possibly for your ping list?
“...the income tax will come to Washington...”
You’re probably right. I used to think that since it requires amending the state constitution that it wouldn’t have a chance, but the tail wags the dog these days so I expect the Martin Luther King County voters to stick the rest of us with one before much longer. Lord but I’m sick of supporting them and their never-ending wish list.
“The principal said that any disciplining of the teachers would be private.”
So in other words, nothing will be done.
i was going to guess liberal teachers. then I read the thread. guess it would have been a good guess.
