The cops in Japan are a joke . Around here you never see them until AFTER something happens . Then every cop in the radius of 50 miles shows up . Totally useless . The buggers are afraid of real work . I’ll never forget seeing them chasing the Japanese motorbike gangs down the streets of Saitama and Kanagawa at 2:00 in the morning in cars with speakers wailing ...” Stop ...Stop ...This is the police ...” And the young punks laughing and giving them the finger as they zoomed on . All thes cops are good for is giving directions and helping old ladies across the street .

This shot of the car chase inside the mall in the "Blues Brothers" movie brings to mind the words of director John Landis about shooting the scenes.

The mall was abandoned in a suburb of Chicago. The production company contacted a bunch of the former franchise stores located in the mall and got them to stock the empty stores with real merchandise just for the nights of the shoots. The production company agreed to pay for any and all merchandise damaged/destroyed in the filming. They also hired security to guard the merchandise when nobody was present.

As it turns out, some security people they hired were apparently stealing merchandise when nobody was around.

Landis said they had to hire additional security guards to watch the original security guards.
