It’s a quality piece, a little pricey but still one I wouldn’t mind having on me if the brown stuff hit the fan.

As a steel revolver shooter (Ruger GP-100, S&W 66-3 2.5", and S&W 686 4"), I never thought I would like a "Tuperware" gun.

But I love my M&P 9, and now shoot IDPA and USPSA almost exclusively with it!

A nice benefit is that it cleans up in about 15 minutes, as opposed to an hour and a half.

This is because the Glock 40’s are blowing up.

I have 2 Glock .357’s that are the boss. I would have liked to get my service weapon when I left LEO work but Sig’s are a little pricey.

I agree. A good move by the CSP.

Our State PD is going to the Smith also. Too many failures in the Glocks and the response from Glock is ammo, ammo, ammo. Even though the other 40's being used are not having any failures.

The 357 is a really good cartridge, but I feel more comfortable being able to find ammo for 9/45 if I am out in BFE.

I remedy that by keeping at least 1000 rounds on hand as I shoot through them.

This is because the Glock 40’s are blowing up.

They were previously issuing Smith & Wessons and were probably comfortable with their relationship with the company.

The Glock Kb propaganda is a little yesterday, dontcha think?

How does it compare with a Springfield XD? The reason I ask is that I have an NRA grant to buy pistols for our collegiate marksmanship group. Glocks are out because we train women, and the grip is just too big for their small hands. I've shot the Springfield, but not the M&P (though I have examined one, and found it to be very pleasant). If it were me we'd buy Browning HiPowers, BUT, the $150-200 price difference isn't a good use of the Friends of the NRA's money (IMHO).

When I bought a Glock 19 last year, dealer said not to shoot any ammo "named for an animal" through it ... he was referring to the Russian steel cases "Wolf", "Tiger", etc brands.

Dunno about the Glock, but Wolf 124gr (or maybe it's 115gr) 9mm does NOT cycle properly in my HiPower. In fact, it's the only thing said HiPower has refused to eat.

Dunno 'bout KB, though. Never had that happen, nor seen it happen, nor heard first hand of it happening.

Nope, it's not 'so yesterday' when it's still happening and Glock refuses to acknowledge the problem.

You are right about Colorado having a good relationship with Smith, as Smith offers a lot of extras on most of their contracts.

If they make an M&P10, I’ll consider it. I don’t like the .40 Short and Weak. Love my 10mm though...

Centerfires? Why not Ruger 22's, ammo is far less expensive?

M&P or XD in 9mm would both be great choices, I'd go with the best deal you can get on either one.
