Rusheo, Rusheo, where art thou Rusheo,,, or at least, where is your fairness?
In the days leading up the Florida primary, Conservative talk show hosts were vicious, vitriolic and venomous in their distain for John McCain. Callers (selected by the show producers) were almost universally in the Romney camp. The few who were allowed to speak in favor of McCain were so bad that they easily could have been plants put on the air to impersonate a malevolent cross between Barney Fife and Denny Crain.
The gestault of their shows' messages were very simple; Romney is perfect, McCain is a horrible person.
This article is not intended to be pro-McCain, pro-Romney or pro-any specific Republican candidate. I only speak to the issue that McCain won against a firestorm of criticism from supposedly Conservative radio hosts.
Lets all agree on a few things. Neither McCain, Romney nor Giuliani have perfect, impeccable Conservative credentials. Each of them has taken generally Conservative stances on a majority of issues, and decidedly (and unwise) moderate to liberal stances on other issues.
Each has changed their position on a number of issues during their life. Is there any of us who have not changed our position on some important public or private issue?
Lets accept the reality that, for example, if any of us have ever been divorced, he have adopted beliefs and positions that are totally contrary to what we once believed. We all change our minds. So did these gentlemen.
Let us not be so foolish to now try to decide who is more Conservative. Each candidate has a number of Conservative positions . and some we wish we could change. Trying to now decide who is more Conservative is like trying to deduce how many angels can dance on the head of a pin. At best, is it malevolent mental masturbation.
The important thing to remember that each of these men is superbly more Conservative that the Hildabeast or Mr. Obama or Mayor Bloomberg.
That is the issue. Noting else counts. Having a Republican beat these two (or three) socialists is vital to our country. Nothing else matters in November . and next January, February, March ..
It will be either McCain or Romney, and the idiocy of some people saying that they would sit out the election of their candidate does not win the Republican nomination is exactly that, a childish idiotic tantrum.
But back to the main issue: our conservative radio hosts. If you didn't hear how bad it was on Monday, consider this example. One host allowed a listener to claim that John McCain collaborated with his North Vietnamese communist captors, and then directed his listeners to the web site that makes that cowardly claim.
Conservative radio hosts have a job to do tomorrow. In climbing all over Sen. McCain, they emulated the tactics of the MSM perfectly. Take no pleasure in this if you are a Romney supporter. Their target could just as easily have been Governor Romney.
Conservatives radio talk show hosts must decide of they are first Americans and Conservatives, or simply another cog in the money making mainstream media morass. They must ask themselves; how low will they go to create controversy in order to get ratings?
Rush, Sean, Bud: please note. Ratings are great. Fairness is even better.
i think it’s “gestalt.” but not sure about that context...
Fair enough. I don’t like McCain, but just a constructive forecast. The likelihood of Bloomberg entering the race now has gone up 300%.
I stopped reading after this statement. People that exaggerate to extremes to try to make their so-called point are losers.
>>>>It may make you feel better to say that. That doesn’t make it true.
If you don’t undertadnt its truth, don;t play in traffic.
I don’t think they have any explaining to do...except to enlighten people more about McCain.
They are right.
Could be the people of Florida really are too stupid to vote.
Too bad you stopped reading before the part that said:
“If you didn’t hear how bad it was on Monday, consider this example. One host allowed a listener to claim that John McCain collaborated with his North Vietnamese communist captors, and then directed his listeners to the web site that makes that cowardly claim.”
The gloves are gonna come off tomorrow against McCain by ALL the conservative talk radio hosts. (I hope)
WHICH host was that?
My candidate is a true conservative and thus cannot be bashed by conservative radio he was defeated by the idiot RINO’s of this country who are too involved in the winner of survivor than to research candidates. If they did vote for the candidate that they thought was the best then we are doomed within 2 generations to become a socialist regime.
Rush was right and needs to come out tomorrow and open the McCain file just like he does on Hillary.
Because he deserved it. As imperfect as Romney and Guilani were, neither had the enthusiasm for tinkling on the conservative base and getting good enemedia press to the extent McVain did. The only way I'll vote for McCain is if he has one foot in the grave, the other on a banana peel and a solid conservative as VP.
McLame is the anti Christ.
Could be the people of Florida really are too stupid to vote.
He's been my senator for as long as I could vote. And there is no way in Hades I'll vote for McCain.
"Rush, Sean, Bud: please note. Ratings are great. Fairness is even better."
The show are not about "Fairness", it is about the opinions of the hosts, they are political commentators.
Enjoy eight years under Preident Barack Hussein Obama, I’ll be going overseas.
After FRed dropped out there was no real choice for conservatives, with the exception of Ron Paul, but his national security positions make him unacceptable to almost all republicans.
>>>>Could be the people of Florida really are too stupid to vote.
Oh, it’s not just Florida. The “I’d never vote for _____ (insert Republican name here)____” feeling is very common here at FR.
Putting McCain and Romney on the same page is just ridiculous. The way the votes split reveals as much over and over again, as well.
Romney wins conservatives. McCain moderates and liberals.
I see no reason whatsoever not to trash McCain. If he survives, he’ll come out the stronger and battle-tested in the general. As for now, I want him destroyed, and I’m pretty unrepentent about that.
My nation’s sovereignty and our economy are better off not left up to a doofus like McCain.
I don’t know who is voting McCain. Maybe Goldwater/Reagan is yesterday’s news. Be it Johnny Mac or Mitt, there are two things to remember to bring to the polls in November.
1. Supreme Court justices - up to five will retire.
2. War on Islamic Jihad.
Republicans - We will fight to win; Liberals fight to whine.
But will McCain reach out to the Nativists?
What radio host says MR is perfect?
JM is not a conservative. If you do not like that fact so be it.
But don’t blame radio hosts if they tell you that fact.
Blame Republicans who vote for liberal Republicans.
did you write that ?
I believe Bloomie is in.
“They do not pretend to form the public’s opinion.”
which is why advertsiers pay millions per year to be on their shows, and Conservatives, (Fred, Newt, et. al) love to be on their shows?!?!?!?!?!
Rush is right 98.9% of the time. He is right this time too. McCain is a democrat. If he wins. We have a choice between 2 liberal democrats in November.
“enemedia”?
LOL! I like it.
Certainly didn't imagine anyone would think I supported Mitt.
Interesting post.
I did hear the comment by the talk show-host about Senator McCain. It was over the top and disgusting.
I do believe that folks like Rush, Levin, etc. have a fundamental difference of opinion with McCain on the direction of the Republican party. That’s not unreasonable given how Senator McCain has conducted himself in the Senate.
They do not.
John McCain sucks. The people who voted for John McCain suck.
We don’t like people who suck.
You idiots just killed the Conservative Movement I have been fighting for over half my life.
Conservatives owe McCain not a damned thing and I will actively work AGAINST HIM FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR.
CONSERVATIVES FOR OBAMA!!!
You are right!!! GET OUR MILITARY OUT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! WE DON”T DESERVE THEIR PROTECTION. THEY ARE FIGHTING FOR WHAT?? A LIBERAL COUNTRY???? WITH MCCAIN/CLINTON VALUES??
CONSERVATIVES FOR OBAMA TO GET OUR TROOPS OUT!!!!!!!!!!!
“If you dont undertadnt its truth, don;t play in traffic.”
The same may be said for the English language and writing vanity posts, you know....
So? Callers say all kinds of things on radio programs about all candidates. Means nothing. And certainly has nothing to do with my post about his idiotic statement “Romney is perfect, McCain is a horrible person” The writer has crap for brains to make such an exaggerated statement.
It’s time for the Romney camp to start trying to cut a deal with the Huckabee camp.
Go to hades. Along with McAmnesty.
Just wait until Gore jumps in.
The important thing to remember that each of these men is superbly more Conservative that the Hildabeast or Mr. Obama
or Mayor Bloomberg. That is the issue. Noting else counts. Having a Republican beat these two (or three) socialists is vital to our country. Nothing else matters in November
. and next January, February, March
..
***The important thing to remember is that this is a conservative website, not a GOP website. The GOP turned its back on conservatism when it didn’t uphold Thompson or Hunter. Putting this kind of RINO garbage on Free REpublic deserves a zot.

What was McCain’s Democrat/Independent crossover for this primary?
And how many are actually going to vote for him in the general election?
I think it is time for a Conservative third party.
This post is full of falsehoods.
Conservative talk show host haven’t been stabbing conservatives in the back for the last 20 years.
Gee, that’s real sane.... and thank you for joining us two weeks ago. We appreciate your lifelong support of Conservative causes (NOT!)
“Conservative talk show hosts were vicious, vitriolic and venomous in their distain for John McCain.”
The record speaks for itself. Perhaps you could look it up before posting such tripe?
Romney is no conservative!
You see one of the traits of being a conservative is the ability to pick out phonys.
That is what Romney is, a phony.
A Johnny come lately to all things conservative.
The conservative movement is not dead. There just were no conservatives on the ballot in FL today.
afreepinmen and thx for sayin’ it
Such as (other than reply #43, that is)
I think it’s time for a Conservative Republican Party again.
Let the RINOs take back the Democrat party and let the Socialists run their own honestly branded party.
