GATA alleges that gold stored in US vaults has not been audited for some time. Further they allege the gold is being used to artificially depress the price of gold.

Gold is very much needed in the electronics industry. At low voltages and low energy levels, you need contacts in your switches, relay tips and connectors that have low resistance and will not tarnish.
Oh, yeah, forgot that somewhat inconsequential application. Remember to recycle your boards! LOL
