Those pictures are amazing! They make me cold just looking at them. I am sorry that the Chinese people are suffering from this blizzard and the cold!!! Is there any sign of warming temperatures coming soon to thaw out everything?

As far as these comments: “well, Communism in China has died out.

today, CCP is just a nominal communists party.in fact it has given up communism for long time.

its thunder against Taiwan is just a pose. Unless Taiwanese were to stupid to declare independence, nothing would happen.”

I didn’t know Communism had died out in China. I did know that economic development in China has brought with it a “thawing” of the clampdown against personal freedoms there, which is a welcome change. But aren’t the Communists still the “party” in control of the government AND businesses there, leading to much corruption of the government leaders? Or is it still too risky to say something like that about the government in China - for fear of being arrested and imprisoned???

Are you saying also that all the “Chinese gulags” are now empty in China? The people can speak openly in criticism of the government without fear of being arrested and shipped to a labor camp??? Without fear of being beaten in prison???

I hope and pray for the day when those are facts about China, when there are no more neighborhood communist party “spies” who report on the neighbors about their activities to the local party bosses....

I also hope and pray for the day when the Chinese government welcomes the home churches of China.....and its leaders....without threat of or actual arrest of its leaders / members.

Here is a list of actions against Christians in 2007 - just the last few months: (so don’t say there is no persecution of Christians in modern day China - there continues to be such persecution. Of course, when the Chinese people are finally free - we in America will likely be the new persecuted, enslaved people of the world....if the likes of HIllary Clinton ever take office again in this country:

Chinese House Church Leader Released (September 19, 2007)
Imprisoned Pastor in Extremely Poor Health (September 26, 2007)

See post 81 re: the persecution of Christians continuing in China. A license from the government to have a church meeting? That is not freedom. Human beings should be free to worship God, period. That is a basic human right.

Taiwan is saber rattling? Yes of course China has a right to defend itself from its enemies. But it seems the United States may be its number one enemy. But when has the United States threatened to attack China? We would never do so. However, should China attack free Taiwan, America (depending on its President) might want to help Taiwan defend itself.

I do not believe the free people of Taiwan would ever want to be a part of Communist China. Should China become free, then maybe so. Other than that, China will have to take Taiwan by force and that is something that America if it did the right thing should help defend the free people of Taiwan against.

May true FREEDOM come to the Chinese people. And may the knowledge of and worship of and discipleship of the One True God spread through China unopposed by the government.

Note the imprisoned pastors - they are HOUSE pastors. China considers churches to be businesses. You can’t have a private house - and push for donations (tithes) without a business license. Get a license, it’s not a problem. I know, I’ve attended several services (it’s a trip going to a church with people on fire for God, but you only understand every 10th word!).

Taiwan AND China will rattle sabers - it’s what you do in that part of the world. Heck, just haggling over price becomes a shouting match with red faces and spit flying! But when a price is reached - or not reached - smiles erupt and hands are shaken. It’s really much more of a cultural thing that you think.

A LOT of the Taiwanese I know - those who live mainly in Taiwan and do business in Korea or China - expect that the two will merge, much like Macau, Hong Kong, and China merged. HK and Macau are still VERY independent, and always will be. China’s smart - they will not bite the hand that feeds them (HK is a huge source of income, via the trade and finance rivers into and out from China). Likewise Taiwan. You’ll see it eventually merge to become another SAR - Special Administrative Region. And just like HK, you’ll see that Chinese Nationals will need their own passport to go to Taiwan - it’ll be that independent (yes, a Chinese citizen needs a special HK passport to go to Hong Kong).

China’s opening up a LOT. There is criticism of the government by people, openly. Editorials run in newspapers decrying the latest government corruption scandal or policy that’s not popular. Stating you don’t like what the government is doing doesn’t earn you a bullet in the back of the head.

China’s not like the communist days of Mao; it’s considerably more liberal, and it’s from the economic prosperity that’s growing in the country. The best way we can help China reach their ultimate political position (I think it’ll be a strong socialist society, much like Sweden or Finland) is to encourage trade and economic prosperity.
