Since losing the 2004 presidential election, John Kerry and his supporters have continued to claim "Unfit for Command: Swift Boat Veterans Speak out against John Kerry" and the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth have been "discredited" for spreading a pack of lies about Kerry's military service in Vietnam and his subsequent leadership in the anti-war movement....

An easy litmus test is to remember who spoke up for the Swift Boat guys, and who didn’t.
Hi, Bob.
What about sKerry’s vow to disprove a single allegation to receive a million bucks?
That promise was lost, upriver in Cambodia someplace.
As I recall, McCain defended Kerry against the dishonorable attacks by the Swift Boat Vets.
He never did make his SF-180 public.
dishonorable?
Is that your word?
But it’s not dishonorable to pursue Purple Hearts?
I should have put “dishonorable” in quotes. That was, I believe, McCain’s words.
Just remembering who McCain is.
Thanks for posting, sounds like a “must read.”
That is exactly correct and IF Huckabee is all he claims to be he would be demanding a bit of repentance out of McCain for his less than honorable deeds and stop coveting Romney's wealth.
Corsi book review ping...
John Kerrys service record includes the years 1970 and 1971 in which he performed service for Jane Fonda and her allies of far greater importance than his few months of service against the VC and NVA. I am glad to see a book countering his uncorroborated testimony before Congress about how I and other members of TF116 committed unspeakable atrocities against the South Vietnamese. His testimony ensured marginalizing accounts of such facts that our boats and ships were ordered not to return fire from the village of Nam Can as they transited to and from Seafloat. We were expected to gut it out through the kill zone, because the village was designated by us as a sanctuary from the war for civilians.
Wasn’t that around Christmas?
I saw T. Boone Pickens on TV a month or so ago reiterating that he has $1 million for John Kerry if he releases his records and proves that what the Swift Boat Vets said wasn’t true. Funny that Kerry hasn’t taken him up on it.
BTTT
Yo Deb, what up?
I think McCain gave more than a little support to John efn Kerry at that time.
All of the folks who are now using “Swift Boating” as an adjective forget or choose to ignore the fact that those who were calling Kerry on his fake heroizm are themselves Honest to God Heroes.
Scott and Tim have been doing a great job. I look forward to reading this book.
John Kerry is the most despicable person in American history. At least Benedict Arnold served over two months service to this country. Kerry, show us your Dishonorable Discharge!!
One of the most gloomy aspects of getting the truth out (i.e., that "swift boating" means getting the truth out) is when the host of the top-rated all-night talk show, George Noory, promotes the Kerry lies. It's likely that most in the millions who tune in are apolitical and "know" little beyond Noory and MSM employees' voluble and tedious feeeeeeeeeeeeeelings.
The author of the posted article, Dr. Corsi, is a regular guest on Noory's show. Dr. Corsi told Noory that he voted for G.W. twice but now has a bit of remorse.
Noory absolutely despises the President and associates and quickly responded to Dr. Corsi's remarks with predicable I-hate-Bush Noory knee-jerk, "Yeah, it was those swift boat lies, right?"
Dr. Corsi told Mr. Noory in no uncertain terms that NO! "the Swift Boat vets called Kerry on his decades of lies" which he (Dr. Corsi) recognized as lies at the time Kerry was spewing them.
It went completely over Noory's head. He has not a clue. It's that BDS thing I guess.
Yes, it was Christmas time.
I know, because it is Seared, Seared, in my mind.(s)
Thanks for the ping, and for getting the truth out again.
You're welcome. It's going to take some pounding away at this to counter the sloganeering by the leftists.
BTTT!
BTTT!
Kerry married One Billion good reasons not to take them up on their offer.
(....what's a fortnight?.....hmmmmm)
Hope to do my IRS this weekend and start the book Monday.
I guarandamntee ya!
Leni
That’s why this stuff has to be countered. Left unopposed, the leftists will have 80% of the public convinced that “swiftboating” is a synonym for McCarthyism in about two more years.
;-}
“dishonorable attacks by the Swift Boat Vets”.
WHAT????
You have some explaining to do..
See my post #10. Obviously I should have put dishonorable in quotes. McCain attacked them. For me, the Swift Boat Vets are a handy litmus test. OReilly attacked them, and I havent watched him since. McCain attacked him, which in his case was just one more case of him knifing people on our side of the line.
Imagine, Kerry came within a hairs breadth of winning the election, and McCain was defending Kerry. Disgusting.
Understood.
Regards,
AR
“McCain attacked him,” I meant to write “McCain attacked them”...
Long day.
John McCain is the man who used to be an honorable man.
This is an excellent review by a man who knows what he is talking about. He was the co-author of Unfit For Command.
Ping
One source says the word McCarthyism was coined by Washington Post political cartoonist Herbert Block (Herblock).
Another source makes more sense to me. To wit, it was the Soviet-financed and controlled CP/USA invention. That makes more sense to me because it was the Communists' 24/7 job to discredit anti-communists.
Besides an American, even one as left-wing as Herblock, would have IMO come up with calling the Senator a sot. Herblock's images of McCarthy clearly portrayed a drunk. Perhaps Herblock picked up the word at one of his cell meetings. :)
As is the wont of the left, the real issues are swept aside and the person raising the issues becomes the issue. It seems to work every time, ask Ann Coulter.
History has proved that McCarthy's issues were mostly on target and therefore (IMO) the correct definition of the word should be the one that he adopted once the Communists' pejorative version was out there.
Nevertheless, McCarthy was certainly charismatically challenged.
Of course, it's considerably more difficult to overturn conventional wisdom 50 years after the fact...
Thank you for the reference.
Evans, actually... my mistake.
Thanks for the ping!
We'd better get real busy correcting the misconception about the meaning of swift boating.
Here's an example of the former: a news item about the recent passing of 89-year-old Mr. Mel Fiske, "a member of Communist Party U.S.A. [who] worked as a reporter for the party's newspaper, the Daily Worker, from 1940 until 1956, when he realized Soviet-style communism was not aligned with his vision of a socialist utopia."
(Of course 1956 was when Khruschev admitted the truth about Stalin causing many "American" Communists to leave the Party and -- some say -- spawning the New Left when the Party's young turned to Mao and their own plans for revolution and "paradise.")
Here's the funny part: "As a reporter for the Daily Worker he covered Congress, the Supreme Court, the White House and the Pentagon, focusing on the opposition to labor organizing, political dissent and the rise of McCarthyism."
The San Francisco Chronicle employee is totally oblivious to the absurdity; to wit, a Communist reporting on the rise of an evil that was looking for something (Communists) who many wanted us to believe didn't exist -- or at least Mr. Fiske the Communist was busy stirring up hatred against that "evil" McCarthyism!
(I stopped listening to Bill O'Reilly for about a year because of his swift boat ignorance, also.)
LOL!
Like there’s no bias in Jerome Corsi reviewing this one! LOL!!
Not that there’s anything wrong with that!
