Okay... I won’t be scheduling any of my weeklong committee meetings in MS anytime soon. I’d hate to have a member starve to death in the meetings...

This wouldn’t survive the first lawsuit, and he no doubt knows it. Just another politico using his office to make a statement. That statement being, “I’m wasting everyone’s time with this and don’t belong in office.”

It amazes me that there are people who are not ashamed to have their names attached to a turd like this and trumpet their stupidity from the tops of the mountains.

“Is this a tongue-in-cheek bill, meant to point out how absurd the war on obesity has become? Or do lawmakers actually believe the myths that gluttony is the cause for obesity and that it is the governments role to force people to eat and live how it deems best?
I called lead author, Rep. Mayhall, and asked if this was serious legislation or tongue-in-cheek to make a point. He kindly took a moment to answer my question while the legislature was in session. He said that while, regrettably, he doesnt believe his bill will pass, this is serious. He wrote it, he said, because of the urgency of the obesity crisis and need for government action. He hopes it will call attention to the serious problem of obesity and what it is costing the Medicare system.
So, yes, this is for real and these elected officials actually believe this stuff.”

There would be only 7 people left in Mississippi who can eat at a restaurant. Should be able to get good seating.
To: freemike
OK, this is bill introduced by three people one of whom is a Dim. It has not been passed or even released from committee or whatever they do in Miss. Haley Barbour is the gov. Hold your fire.
BTW, TSG says it it likely DOA and I do believe the Pubs control the Miss. legislature.

It dies every time legislators meet. They don't pass laws reducing government control, they increase it. Land of the free is becoming the nanny state.

THis is silly and a bit excessive.
If I was a nanny stater, I would argue that they should start out by making it illegal for fat people to order desert. THen gradually progress from there...make the fat people sit in the “fat” section and order from “fat” menues.
But I’m not a nanny stater so I would never say that. I think it should be up to the individual restaurants to make up their own “fat” rules...hehe.
