After years of failed diplomacy and limited military pressure to restrain Saddam Hussein, President Bush made the difficult decision to liberate Iraq. Those who criticize that decision would have us believe that the choice was between a status quo that was well enough left alone and war. But there was no status quo to be left alone.
The years of keeping Saddam in a box were coming to a close. The international consensus that he be kept isolated and unarmed had eroded to the point that many critics of military action had decided the time had come again to do business with Saddam, despite his near daily attacks on our pilots, and his refusal, until his last day in power, to allow the unrestricted inspection of his arsenal. Our choice wasnt between a benign status quo and the bloodshed of war.
It was between war and a graver threat. Dont let anyone tell you otherwise. Not our critics abroad. Not our political opponents.
And certainly not a disingenuous film maker who would have us believe that Saddams Iraq was an oasis of peace when in fact it was a place of indescribable cruelty, torture chambers, mass graves and prisons that destroyed the lives of the small children held inside their walls.

Whether or not Saddam possessed the terrible weapons he once had and used, freed from international pressure and the threat of military action, he would have acquired them again.

Anyone who does not use their vote on Election Day to stop the Democrats is a traitor unworthy of American freedom from that day forward.
I agree. And if he manages to pull out a win in the face of a conservative rebellion, he will have done it.
People tout McCain’s 82% approval rating on conservative matters. That’s his overall rating. I heard his most recent rating, the last voting year, is only 65%. I don’t think he’s getting more conservative. I could live with a John McCain of several years ago. Sadly, now he is becoming a caricature of the angry old man.
PS-Obama’s rating is standing at #1 as most liberal Senator per his voting record. I think I read that Hillary! is around #11.
Agreed. In the end, it boils down to voting day this year in November. The simple question is, “What did you do to keep Obama or Hillary out of office on that day?”
McCain may not be the first, second, or third choice but he is far better than anything the Democrats have to offer.
Unlike most of the pansy a**es on this site, when I get my ballot I am going to kill as many democrat-looking voters with papercuts as I can before they stop me.
I may not be able to vote myself for McCain, but I will hopefully stop many from voting for Hitlery!
I am a true patriot deserving of American Freedom!
I also agree. However, it will only be a moment before the mad rinophobes begin to spit venom. We all dislike the "RINOS." But one needs to be blind not to see that the Dems primary goal is the destruction of liberty.
That's ridiculous.
Here, HERE!
Good plan! And you are:
a true patriot deserving of American Freedom!
ROFLOL
I left off the “SIG hail, Sig Hail”
“Anyone who does not use their vote on Election Day to stop the Democrats is a traitor unworthy of American freedom from that day forward.”

Why wait until then? Stop McCain in the primaries so that he won’t be the Dole of ‘08....cause he will be.
And he will be my never choice.
Anybody who says they would not vote for McCain in the general election is a liberal communist.

I thought I heard Hillary and Obama had the same voting record. Anyway, everyone knows Hillary is the most liberal member of the Congress.
Anyone who votes for John McCain is voting to destroy the American Conservative movement and is, therefore, a traitor to their nation.
“Anybody who says they would not vote for McCain in the general election is a liberal communist.”

Much better to be called one than to vote for one.
Nope, you are wrong.
Anyone who will not stand up and stop the Rat commies from gaining the Presidency is a low down, worthless traitor.
If you do that you do not deserve to live in this country and I am hoping there would be some way to revoke your citizenship, that you obviously hold in such abject contempt, and deport you to another country, preferably a communist one.
And we will all be in reeducation camps when Hillary is elected. She has already hacked into the FR database and has all of our IP addresses. But hey, we should enjoy feeling righteous while it lasts.
no thanks I am protest voting.
Just wait until he “reaches across the aisle” for his Veep.
Right. Smack us about like a wife beater then tell US to get up and follow your orders.... sounds just like McCain.
ROFL, only funny because it’s true.
Time to grow up and save the country....again.
I'll make you a bet newbie, you keep up the threats and you will not be on FR making you fifth grader bully boy comments long.
You might try your own advise and lead by example. I know two year old type fits and tantrums when I hear/read them. My dad served in Korea so don't think I don't know the fear of commies. Further he would also tell you Hillary would NOT be the threat without all the assistance and cover she garnered by her best friend McCain. (Sadly he can't because he is no longer here.)
LOL, re: hyperbole ... a little taste of your own medicine, eh?
Oh pleeeeeeeeze. Are you the gatekeeper here?
Grow up boy and vote Republican. You know who is acting like a little boy and it’s you.
If you were king, would you gas the democrats?
Fairly intense rhetoric there you are slinging.
If there's one thing I like about McCain, is that he has this wonderful dry sense of humor. I bet his press conferences will be humorous.
Still wouldn't vote for him though.
Obama and Clinton wear their liberal stripes proudly. McCain hides his in a newly purchased conservative overcoat. He is despicable. His friends are liberals. His enemies and the people he has fought hardest against are conservatives. He did everything he could to prevent the confirmation of conservative judges. He led the gang of fourteen and only relented when conservatives finally picked off two of those fourteen and broke the gridlock. He has voted and pushed for Amnesty for illegals. He wants to open our borders and flood the country with illegals. That is why he chose Juan Hernandez, a dual citizen who tells illegal and legal immigrants to think Mexico first. He has taken our freedom of speech away with his campaign finance reform bill. He will appoint liberal judges like David Souter, who was vetted by his good friend Warren Rudman. He has repeatedly stated that he hates Wall Street. He ridicules the private sector and belittles those who start businesses and calls them mangers for profit. He plays the class warfare card and opposes tax cuts because they favor the rich over the poor. He believes in global warming and wants to strangle American businesses to comply with mandatory green house caps. He is full of anger and hatred and explodes into uncontrollable rages when others do not agree with him. This is not an honorable man.
But some here want me to believe that he is tough on defense. How can you be tough on defense when you do not want to control your borders against illegal immigrants. Isn’t that giving the green light to terrorist to slip into our country. Oh, and because I disagree with his Amnesty bill I am a racist. This is a fellow conservative! Give me a break.
How is it being tough on terrorist when you want to prosecute CIA agents who save American lives by waterboarding terrorists. Whose side is he on? He always seems to be on the side of Ted Kennedy, the liberal media and looking out for the rights of terrorists. Close Gitmo is his latest mantra. Gee I guess that is really socking it to terrorists.
Now that he is over 72 years old he has suddenly become a Reagan Republican. He never assumed that mantle before. Yeah, he is really going to fool me. He will never fool me again.
If you want liberal judges, higher taxes, curtailed freedom of speech, love being called a racist, open borders for illegals and terrorists, a controlled economy, businesses strangled with green house regulations and a President who flies into a blue rage of hatred with his finger on the nuclear button: John Sidney McCain is your man.
Ugh, I think I’ll pass on that one. He will never fool me again.
P.S. Yes, he did honorably serve his country in Vietnam. This is a great achievement. Unfortunately everything since then has for the most part been dishonorable if you call yourself a conservative.
I know which country I love...do YOU?!!
I served it in uniform...did YOU?!
Oh, pleeeeeeze are you the noise here?
To paraphrase Shakespeare, he is a man, take him for all in all. The John McCain who is against some things you may be for, and for some things you may be against, is also the very same person who is for some things that you are for, and against some things that you are against.
John McCain is also the senator that liberal Democrats come to when they want a senator from the Republican side of the aisle. For instance: McCain/Feingold (limits free speech); McCain/Kennedy (amnesty); McCain/Lieberman (50 cents per gallon gas tax increase).
Senator McCain’s pro-illegal immigration stance would hurt our national security, as border security is national security. Known terrorists have been caught crossing our borders.
I will vote Republican if there is one on the ballot. Bullies never win and you are not going to bully me into a fake Republican.
I did not serve. Is your vote more important than mine? Nope. Is you opinion have more weight than mine? Nope.
You’re pretty full of yourself aren’t you? That usually causes problems when left untreated.
“Known terrorists have been caught crossing our borders.”
Are you suggesting we must close our Canadian border, too? How do you suggest we do that?
He is an angry old man.
“I did not serve. Is your vote more important than mine? Nope. Is you opinion have more weight than mine? Nope.”
What you say is true, but I think you’d be surprised by the high level of respect for McCain among most (albeit not all) military people and veterans. The so-called “true conservatives” now publicly bashing him might want to consider this.
