CDC: Flu Outbreaks Reported In 11 States

Same symptoms in SoCA. Everybody we know in LA and the valley has had it over the past 6 weeks. Ist week, probably not noticed. 2nd week it hits hard, sleep heavily for two days solid, up every hr for 5 minutes then back down again. Chronic dry cough, some phlegm, but sinuses drain but breathable. Cough is persistent enough to the point of passing out from lack of oxygen. Hence the cough syrup either by prescription with codeine, or Robitussin DM. Cough syrup will allow one to sleep without awaking yourself and everybody around you. Drink plenty of fluids. Rest. hot and cold chills. Keep warm and hydrated. Ribs will ache from coughing. Some swelling of lymph glands, and drainage into lower cavities could lead to infection if not careful.

It’s a virus, so antibiotics aren’t the solution unless an infection sets in from swollen sinuses or sinus drainage.

Flu like symptoms. No nausea, but sometimes a headache.

You nailed it. I was going in tomorrow to make up some time but I might not. I could use the money but my health is more important and one time I tried to speed up recovery and it came back to bite me worse. Instead of losing 2 or 3 days, I was off for a week and some change. I might have to run to the store tomorrow but that would be about it. I think I'll just keep laying around watching TV, Freepin', NASCAR, Playstation, etc.

Hopefully Mom is clear of pneumonia and it is just bad congestion.

Mom was sick all week, I felt it coming on Wednesday, the only addition is my appetite is about half of what it was and if I eat a little too much or the wrong things, I can upset my stomach a little but not to the point of nausea.
