The beauty of an Obama nomination is that the Clinton’s will do our dirty work and take him out for the GOP. They’ll want a GOP candidate in W.H. for 2012.
Yes, but the point is to flatten the curve on both of them, not just McCain. The more even the spread, the more clamor for the ‘unifier.’
This is the only reason I will eventually support McCain in the general. I have been going around with this in my mind since Florida.
It all comes down to the war. Now don’t get me wrong, I know that McCain is awful about Gitmo...but so is Obama and Hillary. The difference is that Hillary and Obama will be doing what their constituents want if they close Gitmo...McCain would be going against his and the party..and might be forced to cool it by his own people.
BUt the BIGGEST reason? Think about our enemies..who will they respect and fear most? Not Obama...Not Hillary...but they just MIGHT fear McCain because of his background.
He is NOT my choice, but if it comes down to a Dem or McCain..it’s gotta be McCain
well it’s one thing to have issues. He needs a machine behind him.
Hillary has that. travelgate, irs audits, BATF under her control...I know all about Hillary. A friend of my family used to work for secret service. They ruined his career when he testified about drugs in the WH.
She’s one nasty...she bites back. She was a hard core commie in her youth. She probably still is but very strategic about her goals.
Enjoy McCain, oh grumpy “wise one”. snicker You’ve got his personality.
Sorry. Provincetown has been a gay bastion for the last twenty years. It has NOTHING to do with Mitt.
Gay marriage was on Mitt’s watch. Gaying of the public schools was on Mitt’s watch.
Talk to Barney Frank. Fortunately, you cannot talk to the late Gary Studds.
How can one prevent the gaying of the most liberal state? Gays are in the church, in the priesthood, in the boyscouts!
Despite the over 2,500 pedophilia cases now on record involving homosexual scout leaders, Romney stated, "I feel that all people should be allowed to participate in the Boy Scouts regardless of their sexual orientation." In the same article, a BSA official criticized Romney for opposing Scout policy. - Boston Globe, 10/27/1994
Romney barred Boy Scouts from public participation in 2002 Olympics
The 2002 Olympics - run by Mitt Romney - was the only Olympics that restricted the Boy Scouts from participating. According to news reports, this was apparently because of pressure from homosexual activists. (But also, according to reports, homosexual groups participated fairly prominently.) Romney would not respond to reporters' questions about that action.
The largest Boy Scout council in the country responded to the call for volunteers issued by the Salt Lake Olympic Organizing Committee, but the welcome mat was rolled up and the door slammed in its face. Olympic spokesmen for the 2002 winter games say the exclusion has nothing to do with recent protests by gay activists. While the organizing committee for the Olympic event is prominently displaying a call for local volunteers, they have explicitly let it be known that the Boy Scouts need not apply. "For us not to be involved is discouraging, considering the Atlanta games. The Scouting council there was extremely involved," said Kay Godfrey, professional Scout executive for the Great Salt Lake Council of Boy Scouts. - NewsMax.com, Dec. 18, 2000
Mitt Romney is a fine orator, on a par with Bill Clinton, but is fundamentally unfit for the Republican nomination.
No way. Hillary has a 50% disapproval rating. That is a mountain to overcome in a general election.
I agree. McCain will beat Hillary unless conservatives stay home.
Time's a'wastin'. It doesn't look like there is much interest in the plan. Anyone know who the 'Patron Saint of Hopeless Causes' is?
Bump!
Why do you think that the Democrats and main stream medis is supporting Mc Cain?
They know that if he is nominated that enough Conservatives and Christians will not vote to give her the edge.Ansin.
Do you spend much time here? There’s a lot of support for Obama in Central Florida and no shortage of latte liberals and northeastern transplants who will vote for the Dem no matter who it is. Don’t be fooled by per capita income stats for Florida. They look low, but because there are so many retirees, family sizes are small, too. IOW, there’s a lot of disposable income among certain population sets here.
Latinos won’t vote for him, but other than the Cubans who vote Republican, hispanics don’t vote in large numbers, anyway, in this state. Registration will still be open in Florida after the Dem nominee is chosen, so if it’s Obama, I expect a surge in blacks registering to vote, and they make up 16% of Florida’s population.
With the housing market in a slump, a lot of Floridians perceive the economy to be shaky. Construction here is in a recession. There are numerous unfinished construction projects sitting vacant, and foreclosure signs everywhere you look. With the right populist rhetoric and a nervous population, Florida will be ripe for the picking.
Florida, as always, will be a jump ball. Obama will have to work for it, but to make a blanket statement that he cannot win is simply untrue.
I disagree. Nothing will unite the GOP like the thought of Bill and Hillary back in the White House. Also......
If Hillary wins the nomination, many Blacks will be disheartened and angry and sit out the election. That will take a big chunk out of her vote totals.
Romney or Juan McCain can beat Hillary; Huck and Paul can’t. But, I’m afraid Obama would steam roll all of them.
Obama al-Husseini is 100 times worse than Hillary, imo.
All 3 statewide guys in FL (Nelson, Martinez, and Crist) are from the Hillary Clinton section of the spectrum and style— that appeals to the sort of white voter that Democrats need to get support from to make FL competitive. Obama has struggled to get Hispanic support, too.
You’ve got that right.
It depends on how well the MSM deconstructs McCain between the time he gets the nomination until the October Surprise. In the meantime, Obama will get to stand above the fray looking presidential, making inspiring speeches and promising to save the state from the economic downturn.
Don’t discount the braindead Dem vote here, oldsters who’ve been voting Dem since FDR and aren’t about to stop now, no matter how suspicious they are of the nominee. That vote is huge.
54% of Florida’s voters are women, and if you believe the polls, McCain has a woman problem. To illustrate how bad a woman problem, I know two homeschool moms who say they won’t vote for Hillary or McCain, but might for Obama and would for Romney. These women are married with children, and should be Republican slam-dunks. But not for McCain.
Like I said, it’s a jumpball.
We shall see.
The media will always pick either the most liberal or weakest, easy kill Republican. That is why they support Huckabee as well.
