Will Media Expose Global Warming Con Job?
http://www.aim.org/special-report/will-media-expose-global-warming-con-job/ ^ | Jerry Carlson

Posted on 02/03/2008 9:30:34 AM PST by ventanax5

In the past several months, a new "crisis" has heated up the controversy over man-made global warming.

A few major-media writers and TV personalities are actually reporting statements by credible scientists who are challenging the assumption that carbon dioxide is the primary force causing global warming.

There's a real possibility that big-name journalists will break ranks and pursue their next Pulitzer Prize by exposing the lack of scientific consensus on CO2 as a planet-heating pollutant.

That would create a crisis of confidence among the activists, researchers and global-governance apparatchiks who want a global carbon tax to build their political and financial power base.

If the sun spot theory has merit, we really need to be more concerned about global cooling. Of course there isn’t a darn thing we can do about it.

Sure they will. Just like they exposed other scientific hoaxes like heterosexual aids, Alar, DDT, embryonic stem cell research, etc.

When the science becomes overwhelming against global warming, they will just move on to some other scare, politically correct of course.

When everyone believes in global warming, and there are no more ratings hits to be had with alarmist stories, then it will be profitable for them to go the other way. They will attract big audiences and advertisers by debunking global warming, and make lots of money.

This writer clearly has not read 1984 or, if he did, he failed to see the central organizing principle that was explained so well in that book. That principle states that the truth is whatever we want it to be until we change our mind.

I actually don't forsee Al Gore getting out of the Carbon Credits business very soon or the Greenie-Marxists deciding that there is no longer a need to cripple the U.S. or the Dems coming to their senses and agreeing that there is less need for controlling our lives. As a result I don't see the MSM changing their tune on the Global Warming Hoax very soon.

Of course. And it will, naturally, be discovered that nothing can be done to save the human race short of dismantling western civilization.

For example, the Antarctic ice core data dramatized in Gore's show actually reveal that increases in CO2 have generally followed increases in temperature. The lag is typically on the order of 800 years.

Just like a pot of water on the stove. Heat it up (like the sun heats the oceans) and gases are expelled. Let it cool, and those gases don't get readsorbed into the water without a lot of mixing action. So it takes a long time for the CO2 to get readsorbed back into the ocean waters.

It makes no difference, warm or cold, they will blame it on human pollution. A few days ago I had one of them claim that the cooling from WWII until the 1970s was caused by dirty air.

Climate change is the new mantra.

I hope the Global Warming goons never go away. I mean, where else can you get free comedy like this?

We say:   They respond with:
It's hot.     AHH!! IT'S GLOBAL WARMING!!
It's cold.     AHH!! IT'S GLOBAL WARMING!!
It's dry.     AHH!! IT'S GLOBAL WARMING!!
It's raining.     AHH!! IT'S GLOBAL WARMING!!
It's sunny.     AHH!! IT'S GLOBAL WARMING!!
It's snowing.     AHH!! IT'S GLOBAL WARMING!!

I mean, seriously. These chicken littles must think everyone's laughing with them, not at them.

The same analogy can be applied to continental glaciation.

Get the ocean warm enough, slow down insolation, and voila! Rain and snow until the oceans cool down.

Each leads to the other.

BTW, where are the SUV fossils? I want one for my collection. All I have so far is an old VW.

So what?!?!
The SCOTUS has already ruled that CO2 is a pollutant and in doing so, has forced the EPA to regulate it. No amount of writing by the self-indulgant media will get the Court to reverse itself.

"...In fact, the long glacial cycles suggest we're coming due for a cooling. Tim Patterson, director of the Ottawa-Carleton Geoscience Centre, says: "It is global cooling, not warming, which is the major climate threat to the world." The dip in lower-latitude temperatures in the past few years might be an early clue to such a cooling. I anticipate that if it does occur, Kyoto Protocol enthusiasts will claim credit for rescuing the planet..."

We are actually in an Ice Age now. Whether we are in Global Warming is a matter of consensus, which means a matter of taste: aesthetical judgment rather than reason or moral judgment. Tastes change, sometimes rapidly and in unexpected directions.

My answer is no. Big business hopes to make Billions from the publics fear. They will continue to try and increase that fear. Big business buys the advertisement that keep the media operating. The same people also buy the politicians to enact laws to their benefit.

global cooling. Of course there isn’t a darn thing we can do about it.

well, we could all start breathing - or is it f*rting? - heavier. Maybe Gore would start a "SUV Credits" campaign where we could pay ourselves to garner free license to buy more SUV's and rev them up even when we have nowhere to go.

Maybe we could all keep a cow - you know how much carbon they 'emit' =

the possibilities are wide open...

And please hurry. I have no place left to put any more of this global warming residue.

Global Warming is a cultic religion. Cults provide new revelation where old is rejected and says this is the only way. It does not listen to old wisdom and cannot be persuaded without interventions. Often cults take all one’s worldy possessions which it will do to our economy.

How many global warming lists do we need?

Different strokes for different folks, Kemo Sabe.

Some Anthropogenic Global Warming ™ ping lists are selective, whereas I ping nearly everything I can find on what I consider to be this extremely important topic.

Consider my pings in the spirit of a "bump to the top", if you will.

FWIW, I started this at the request of a friend of mine who was going on an extended vacation and wanted a complete archive of threads on the topic to peruse upon return. Subsequently, a few folks have FReepmailed me asking to be included. I never solicit for pingees, but am happy to continue to serve those who have requested inclusion in a high volume AGW™ ping list.

Thanks for your interest.

Will Media Expose Global Warming Con Job?

Ask Jason why global warming.

Jason is our best and brightest genius-class sciencists -- I'm talkin' Manhattan Project-class-and-beyond elites here.

So elite were the guys that we little people were not allowed to know that Jason existed.

Though no mention of their global warming concerns in the nytimese book review - "Hey! we geniuses saved the world from all kinds of tyranny, what else is important enough for us to do?" - this review does mention it,. "fear that the organization itself will become a mere 'job shop' for the Defense Department . . . younger Jasons have already turned to the study of global warming "

It all started shortly after the end of the Cold War on a warm afternoon in the Clintons-Gore Administration . . . .

I've been reading "Liberal Fascism" (great book, *every* conservative should read it).

Goldberg would describe AGW as a political myth. Such things are "true" if people believe them to be true. Absolute truth is irrelevant, and trying to un-convince people of a myth is harder than making the original case for it. No one want's to admit they were "wrong". It's harder to un-learn something you've learned.

The left is using the myth as a vehicle for power. Ok. Our proper response should be to use the myth in ways that denys them power. We point out that building nukes will remove more CO2 exhausts than CAFE standards on cars, etc. Jujitsu politics - using their weight of argument against their own goals.

I could care less if they're right or wrong on AGW, as long as they can't use it to destroy Western economic power, as they so obviously want to do.

A few days ago I had one of them claim that the cooling from WWII until the 1970s was caused by dirty air.

It's not a claim. It's the basic understanding of the climate science community based on modeling combined with observations. To assert that it's wrong requires the next step -- demonstrate another better explanation. I know you think the Sun is the better explanation, but the data does not provide enough forcing.
