MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. -- Mitt Romney's campaign is blasting out automated phone calls that feature a recording of former Senator Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania raising questions about John McCain's "temperament" -- a hot-button issue that Romney himself has assiduously avoided. Santorum said in an interview today that he wrote the script himself, and the campaign deferred to him and approved it.

We got a phone call recording from Santorum yesterday. (California) - Go, Mitt!!
At that last debate senility seemed to be an issue.
He was rambling on and on in search of a thought.
McManaic: “Aw, that’s a crock of *!@@##$%%$:. Now get the F^$%#% out of my way, you S&*%%$^&.”
Santorum said he had personally witnessed problems with McCain's temperament, which he declined to detail.Dems and the MSM are going to eat this man alive!
"I don't know anybody in the Senate who hasn't," Santorum said. "Everybody has their McCain story."
Excellent!

Romney’s Temper Flairs When Challenged by Inconvenient Facts “
http://massresistance.blogspot.com/2008/01/romneys-temper-flairs-when-challenged.html
LOL! McCain is unstable, he is nuts and the MSM will eat him alive.
"Which GOP presidential hopeful do you want to see win the most delegates on Super Tuesday?"

That Romney exchange was Sunday School compared to McInsane tantrums.
LOL Nice try you boob!
That would be a good pic to caption.
After the nasty ones by huck and mcpain in florida last week dissing Mitt, I hope they throw the book at mccain! and the 527s also!
As Obama said, McCain and the hill are a lot alike. and nobody in the media or apparently the party cared!!!!!
He rambled quite alot. He also was just barely able to control his dislike of Mitt (he seems to like Huck, and ignores RuPaul).
He came across as angry, spiteful, smarmy and generally a creepy mean old man.
MOgirl
This is absolutely fair game. The treason party will certainly raise it as an issue if McCain gets the nod from the pubbies.
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with having a temper. We don’t want some panty-waist for president. Didn’t VP Cheney say F_ck You to Leahy? But if discussing McShaim’s temper is a surrogate for suggesting he’s mentally unbalanced, then it’s ok.
Never trust a guy with a comb over!!!
You can
A)either take someone else’s word as to how Romney reacted to the AP reporter
or
B) watch the clip yourself and draw your own conclusions
and frankly, the heading itself is a lie.
Leno played a full clip of the exchange between Romney and and the AP guy, but before he did, he mentioned to Romney that the headlines said Romney had lost his cool, but when you watch the clip, all you see is Romney setting the record straight and eventually telling the guy they can talk more later.
Also, Leno was obviously in the camp as one who thought, what are they talking about, the guy did not lose his temper.
Oh I’m sure McCain’s meds have been increased now.
Good, it’s a bout time somebody did because sure as hell the MSM and the democrats will.
How long until that scum Hickabee comes to McLame’s defense?
THat’s all you got? hahahaha. You guys are desperate
I got that call too from Santorum. Romney the other day and just a generic lady yesterday.
Nope. Angrily lying.
Funny. I was just thinking the same thing about the article.
Well, that’s your take on it, mine is different. He was not yelling, he was not cursing, what he did say was for the guy to listen to what he was saying, which was that he did not have lobbyists running his campaigning and proceeded to name the woman who is running it. After a few back and forths with the guy, he calmly told the guy for them to discuss the issue later.
I guess your interpretation of what consitutes losing your temper is different than mine.
I’m not concerned about McCain’s temper. Are we conservatives or are we wussies? This doesn’t increase my appreciation of Mitt at all. I don’t want a kinder gentler President. Give me a Dick Cheney who cursed Sen. Patrick Leahy over a weak make nice type who just wants to get along. I’m not saying this is what McCain is but I think some of us are stretching it a bit where McCain is concerned. Mitt is hardly a conservative savior fiscally or socially.
Who was?
I have seen a clip of McCain losing his temper with Maria Shriver to the extent where he was quite rude to her. The incident happened back in 2000 and it got quite a bit of play, as I recall.
Why second hand reports from some Senator? Better to get aired actual video of McCain losing his temper.
Greenville SC - the 2000 Presidential primary - John McCain had just beaten W in the NH primary and the Straight Talk Express rolled into South Carolina.
I was a McCain supporter - positive that he was the real deal.
I drove to a McCain speech and public appearance. It was a day I will never forget as long as I live.
That day I witnessed John McCain behave unlike any appearance I had ever seen on TV - the man was unhinged.
After a 15 minute canned speech - he decided to address his competition in the primary - George W. Bush. He did so by beginning with, I am Luke Skywalker, and my opponents are members of the Empire. Together we will form the rebellion and defeat Darth Vadar. He yelled this - first pumping - his voice full of anger - his face - beet red - and his eyes - well - they were scary.
The crowd instantly went from supportive - to bewildered.
He obviously didnt pick up on the mood change - because he went on for another 5 minutes - ranting and raving about how everyone was lying about his record - his views - and he, wasnt going to take it any more (remember the movie Network).
It was surreal.
When he finished - and with the prodding of an aid - he left the stage, while we in the crowd just stood there - stunned - and honestly - completely confused.
I asked a woman next to me: what the hell just happened? She answered: that man is freaking nuts!
I came home - walked in the house - sat on the couch and just looked at the wall. I suddenly realized - the man pushed on television - was not the man at all.
I have told this story many times - to many people - and I have heard the same story told back to me by others who have seen similar John McCain episodes.
I am not given to criticize anyone lightly ladies and gentlemen.
I am sure John McCain is a good man - but listen to me - and please believe me.
JOHN MCCAIN is NOT FIT TO LEAD THIS NATION.
John McCain is unstable. John McCain is freaking nuts!
I wonder how much of his voting with the democrats on certain issues is due to his bitterness at losing the nomination back in 2000.
Good for him.
Why should he sit by and be smeared by that lunatic McAmnesty?
He is a loose cannon
Hey, Bud, get with the program. We ain’t voting for anybody now, we are voting AGAINST somebody. That somebody is a sawed-off maniac named McCain.
Temperament is a legitimate issue.
JOHN MCCAIN is NOT FIT TO LEAD THIS NATION.
John McCain is unstable. John McCain is freaking nuts!
I believe you.
Smart move. Of course, the media will talk about how mean Romney is.
massresistance has about as much credibility as DU.
Assertively telling the truth, and correcting the repeated mistatement by a reporter who’s job it is to ASK questions and report, not get into debates with the candidates and spew false information.
Sorry, but again, the video is available and we can all watch it, so your statements have no validity.
The man the reporter mentioned did not run Romney’s campaign. That was also clearly reported.
You made it four words into your reply before you turned the truth on its head.
“Im not concerned about McCains temper.”
You should be. This isn’t isolated or out of context charges like those used against others, this is a lifelong pattern with McCain. He’s dangerous.
CAPITOL HILL STAFFERS RATE THEIR BOSSES
McCain got no glory from those who work with him.
Every election year we survey top aides on both sides of the aisleadministrative assistants, press secretaries, legislative directors, and chiefs of committee staffsto get their up-close and personal, and anonymous, views. While there may be lots of partisan backbiting among congress members, their staffers seem far more capable of putting politics aside and making honest judgments. It wasnt unusual for aides in both parties to name one of their own as spineless or give the workhorse nod to someone across the aisle.

THE McCAIN WAY - ATTACK REPUBLICANS
Defending His Amnesty Bill, Presidential hopeful John McCain - who has been dogged for years by questions about his volcanic temper - erupted in an angry, profanity-laced tirade at a fellow Republican senator, sources told The Post yesterday. In a heated dispute over immigration-law overhaul, McCain screamed, F you! at Texas Sen. John Cornyn, who had been raising concerns about the legislation. This is chickensstuff, McCain snapped at Cornyn, according to several people in the room off the Senate floor Thursday. Youve always been against this bill, and youre just trying to derail it. (Charles Hurt, Raising McCain, New York Post, 5/19/07)
In 2000, Sen. McCain Ran An Attack Ad Comparing Then-Gov. George W. Bush To Bill Clinton. SEN. MCCAIN: I guess it was bound to happen. Governor Bushs campaign is getting desperate, with a negative ad about me. The fact is, Ill use the surplus money to fix Social Security, cut your taxes and pay down the debt. Governor Bush uses all of the surplus for tax cuts, with not one new penny for Social Security or the debt. His ad twists the truth like Clinton. Were all pretty tired of that. As president, Ill be conservative and always tell you the truth. No matter what. (McCain 2000, Campaign Ad, 2/9/00; www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHoXkCprdL4)
Sen. McCain Repeatedly Called Sen. Pete Domenici (R-NM) nams. Why cant McCain win the votes of his own colleagues? To explain, a Republican senator tells this story: at a GOP meeting last fall, McCain erupted out of the blue at the respected Budget Committee chairman, Pete Domenici, saying, Only an ahole would put together a budget like this. Offended, Domenici stood up and gave a dignified, restrained speech about how in all his years in the Senate, through many heated debates, no one had ever called him that. Another senator might have taken the moment to check his temper. But McCain went on: I wouldnt call you an ahole unless you really were an ahole. The Republican senator witnessing the scene had considered supporting McCain for president, but changed his mind. I decided, the senator told Newsweek, I didnt want this guy anywhere near a trigger. (Evan Thomas, et al., Senator Hothead, Newsweek, 2/21/00)
Sen. McCain Had A Heated Exchange With Sen. Charles Grassley (R-IA) And Called Him A F*cking Jerk. Senators are not used to having their intelligence or integrity challenged by another senator. Are you calling me stupid? Sen. Chuck Grassley once inquired during a debate with McCain over the fate of the Vietnam MIAs, according to a source who was present. No, replied McCain, Im calling you a fing jerk! (Evan Thomas, et al., Senator Hothead, Newsweek, 2/21/00)
In 1995, Sen. McCain Had A Scuffle With 92-Year-Old Sen. Strom Thurmond (R-SC) On The Senate Floor. In January 1995, McCain was midway through an opening statement at a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing when chairman Strom Thurmond asked, Is the senator about through? McCain glared at Thurmond, thanked him for his courtesy (translation: buzz off), and continued on. McCain later confronted Thurmond on the Senate floor. A scuffle ensued, and the two didnt part friends. (Harry Jaffe, Senator Hothead, The Washingtonian, 2/97)
Sen. McCain Attacked Christian Leaders And Republicans In A Blistering Speech During The 2000 Campaign. MCCAIN: Unfortunately, Governor Bush is a Pat Robertson Republican who will lose to Al Gore. The political tactics of division and slander are not our values They are corrupting influences on religion and politics, and those who practice them in the name of religion or in the name of the Republican Party or in the name of America shame our faith, our party and our country. Neither party should be defined by pandering to the outer reaches of American politics and the agents of intolerance, whether they be Louis Farrakhan or Al Sharpton on the left, or Pat Robertson or Jerry Falwell on the right. (Sen. John McCain, Remarks, Virginia Beach, VA, 2/28/00)
Celebrating His First Senate Election In 1986, Sen. McCain Screamed At And Harassed A Young Volunteer. It was election night 1986, John McCain had just been elected to the U.S. Senate for the first time. Even so, he was not in a good mood. McCain was yelling at the top of his lungs and poking the chest of a young volunteer who had set up a lectern that was too tall for the 5-foot-9 politician to be seen to advantage, according to a witness to the outburst. Here this poor guy is thinking he has done a good job, and he gets a new butt ripped because McCain didnt look good on television, Jon Hinz told a reporter Thursday. At the time, Hinz was executive director of the Arizona Republican Party. There were an awful lot of people in the room, Hinz recalled. Youd have to stick cotton in your ears not to hear it. He (McCain) was screaming at him, and he was red in the face. (Kris Mayes and Charles Kelly, Stories Surface On Senators Demeanor, The Arizona Republic, 11/5/99)
Sen. McCain Publicly Abused Senator Richard Shelby (R-AL). [McCain] noted his propensity for passion but insisted that he doesnt insult anybody or fly off the handle or anything like that. This is, quite simply, hogwash. McCain often insults people and flies off the handle . There have been the many times McCain has called reporters liars and idiots when they have had the audacity to ask him unpleasant, but pertinent, questions. (Editorial, Theres Something About McCain, The Austin American-Statesman, 1/24/07)
Is it any wonder McCain has few endorsements from his Congressional piers? http://thehill.com/endorsements-2008.html
