That's because we don't really have any facts worth mentioning in this case. You've got a video that looks bad, and some vague comments from her lawyer, and absolutely no context in which to place them.
When you talk about "smell tests," I've got an almost infallible one for stories like this one.
1. Story that sounds bad.
2. Story reported by a TV station
3. All of the "facts" are provided by the plaintiff's lawyer and relatives
4. No real facts about why the cops were called
5. No real specifics as to why the plaintiff was arrested in the first place.
When I see that combination, my "smell test" meter goes off the scale.
I think your meter needs adjustment.
All you need to do is watch the video to see what smells in this case. Do you think any of the “rock star” murderers like OJ or Robert Blake, Phil Specter or the Menendez brothers, were treated similarly?
In or out of context, I fail to see any justification for 2 male officers to be involved in the declothing of this woman. I can't think of any reason why they should have been in the room. Can you? (not being sassy, but genuinely wondering if you could think of a reasonable answer)
I’ll join the chorus. I agree that the early circumstances are too fuzzy in the story, but I’d really like to know what “context” you think can justify 1) having two males help strip the woman when there are five women there to do it, 2) those two males are the last to leave the room (getting in a little ogling?), and 3) leaving her there naked without even a blanket for six hours (the sheriff admits this happened).
What context would justify male officers participating in the forced stripping of a female detainee?
Number 4 was answered in the video, but what I find interesting is that you really are no different than the rest of us on this thread, you’re just as skeptical as we are, just for the other team.
I take no issue with that. We’re all flying a bit blind on this one. Male cops stripping a cuffed female prisoner, though, is a bit challenging to justify, regardless of the reason. JMO.
Fill in the blanks with ANYTHING you want. You can’t get me to buy that 5 female deputies needed the help of two male deputies to strip a woman.
Start with that VERY BAD case and work backwords into
WHY DID SHE NEED TO BE STRIPPED.
WHY WAS SHE ARRESTED.
I hope she OWNS THEM.
Again, if a police department performs a strip search after making a decision a detainee or prisoner is suicidal, it IS a strip search. The fact they didn’t perform a cavity search proves the Sheriff’s department further violated their own procedural safeguards in this situation.
It happened 15 months ago. You don’t think the cops had time for a few talking points in/for their defense? It is going to boil down to males helping with the strip search. There is no defense for this.
Cops are up deep kimchi...
