Sore Winner? McCain Disses Romney, Santorum, Cochran
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 02/05/2008 5:03:23 AM PST by governsleastgovernsbest

You'd think a man who might be on the verge of taking a giant step toward wrapping up the Republican nomination would go out of his way to be gracious. But John McCain couldn't keep his spiteful streak under wraps on this morning's Today.

In the course of his interview by Matt Lauer, the Today co-anchor cited critical comments about McCain by former and current Senate colleagues Rick Santorum and Thad Cochran. McCain retaliated with a personal swipe at their reputations and later declined to describe Mitt Romney as a fine man.

McCain is always “sore”.

He’s petty little man who shouldn’t even be this close to the presidency.

(It’s of little consolation to me that the Democrats know his number and will squash him like a bug in the General.)

“Gracious” and “McNasty” are two words that just don’t belong in the same sentence. He is the most ungracious politician I think I’ve ever seen or can remember.

How can so many supposed members of our party be so out of touch?

A caller to Bill Bennett’s show this morning had a good comment. Bill said something about McCain’s seeming “electability” and the caller started talking about McCain’s temperment and how a McCain/Obama match might play out in the media with McCain being Mr. McNasty, and Obama putting forth a so called “positive” message. In that situation, I think the guy had a point, McCain against Hillary is one thing (they’re both nasty) but McCain against Obama would come across as a stark contrast: old/young, nice/nasty.

So McCains record on Conservatism remains under attack... OK..

But I simply have to ask all the pureists here...

What is that Conservative piece of legislation, or that Conservative battle that Mitt Romney has fought so hard for that makes him the Conservative...

or

Does Conservative Rhetoric during Republican Primaries and campaign seasons and pandering to Conservatives make a person The Conservative?

Watch McCain show his utter disdain for people from home state when they ask about illegals.

Watch his handler threaten a woman asking about illegals raping children.

Watch McCain stand on stage and say nothing when they tell one of his constituents to "shut up!".

Just because Romney’s no conservative you can’t conclude that McCain is one.

Neither of these two poseurs are conservatives. But McCain is personally and tempermentally unfit for the Presidency, reagardless of his political stance.

I pray each night for no first ballot nominee, and that the delegates include a majority with a modicum of patriotism and character, and who will nominate someone who can unite the party and win in November.

That would not be McCain, Huckabee, or Romney. it could be George Allen, or Rick Santorum, or even someone else not on the radar right now.

Yep, I will be pulling the lever for Romney today.

How could anyone vote for McCain. He is against the 1st Ammendment, for raising taxes, for open-borders, for Amnesty, fights against right-to-life groups in court, sides with terrorists on waterboarding and Gitmo, considered joining the Repubican party in the last election, calls you a racist and bigot if you oppose him on open immigration and Amnesty and stabs conservatives in the back time and time again. He will do it again and again and again. He is sick.

For me...Romney doesn’t qualify as a real Conservative either. He’s just “not McCain”.

Romney is paying lip service to conservative principles at this point. Down the road he MAY well stab me in the back.

I KNOW that John McCain WILL stab me in the back. After the amnesty fiasco last summer I will never support McCain for anything.

Sad that it has come to this.

I came to Romney from Fred. While I’m still somewhat unsure about him, I’m casting my vote today for Mitt. If McCain gets the nomination I’ll vote 3rd party, write-in or stay home. I will not vote for that man.

If this country goes down the tubes I want it on the Democrat’s watch. I want them to hold responsibility.

And exactly why do potential voters like McCain? Because they really don’t know him or they’re some version of liberal “republican” or demonrat and recognize one of their own and/or believe hillary or Obama will spank him in the election. Study and learn. The more you know, the less there is to like about Johnny.

What is that Conservative piece of legislation, or that Conservative battle that Mitt Romney has fought so hard for that makes him the Conservative...

______________________________________________________

If you have to ask that question you simply have not been looking.

Mr. Romney denied many “rights” to illegals except for the right to be arrested and turned over to INS. Mr. Romney dramatically reduced spending in his state. Mr. Romney, despite all the rhetoric about raising “fees” reduced taxes by a very large amount. Mr. Romney fought his legislature and Supreme court to fight the marriage law that the court found in the constitution. Mr. Romney fought the legislature to keep single payer health care out of the state, yes he had to come up with an alternate but it is far superior to what was wanted by the Democrats. Mr. Romney took over the ill-managed “Big Dig” and got it completed. There is very much which is positive in his administration. In every opportunity he had he stopped or reduced opportunities for abortion. Yes he signed a budget that included a court mandated state paid abortions. Sometimes you have to do something you don’t want to do. I think he is the only one standing that I can vote for.

The irony in this is that Mccain did say that Hillary would make a fine president during a recent interview with Mike Wallace on Fox. Wallace purposely held Mccain over until Hillary came on and Mc and Hilldog were swooning over each other stating it would be a civil campaign. He can run a civil gracious campaign with her, but against his own compatriots he is searching for blood. What a disgraceful, terrible man. If I displayed his temperament to my customers I would soon be out of business and if my employees showed his personality traits they would be un-employed. I cant believe this bitter man is on the verge of fooling a majority of the repulican electorate.
