Pushing Fred Thompson to Re-Enter the Race?
The Conservative Pulse ^ | 02/05/2008 | Austin Cassidy

Posted on 02/05/2008 7:53:49 AM PST by TheThirdRuffian

Apparently, a handful of former Fred Thompson supporters are keeping the faith. They’ve been trying to organize grassroots supporters to vote for Thompson anyway, despite the fact that he’s dropped out of the race…

There is a reason Fred Thompson hasn’t endorsed any other Republican candidate for President. If the FRED ARMY can come through on Super Tuesday and deliver a victory in Tennessee, he will re-enter the race and give us the conservative alternative we need!

Mitt Romney is a phony conservative. John McCain is an honorable servant, but he is not the right man to represent our party. Mike Huckabee is a liberal in conservative clothing.

Only Fred Thompson can save our party and our nation.

Fred may not be out on the campaign trail, but you can be. His name is still on the ballot and we can still get the word out. This election year is unlike any other. Fred Thompson was leading the polls before he got into the race, there’s no good reason why he can’t lead again.

Get out and vote for Fred! Wave signs for Fred! Call friends, call family members, open the phone book and call everyone! Make a YouTube video or share an eCard to remind people they can still vote for Fred.

Victory in Tennessee means victory for America!

We can and we must win!

Imagine the headlines: Thompson wins more delegates than Ron Paul or Mike Huckabee! Thompson beats Huckabee in California, Alabama, and New York! Thompson re-enters race as Romney and Huckabee drop out!

WE CAN DO IT! LET’S MAKE IT HAPPEN!

FRED THOMPSON 2008 - FRED FOREVER!

The idea isn’t quite as crazy as it might sound. Back in 1992, Paul Tsongas suspended his campaign and then rejoined the race, thinking Clinton had been fatally wounded by a string of sex scandals. It didn’t quite work for Tsongas, but he did perform well in New York.

Anybody ask Fred?

That said, I will pull the lever for him today. NYS is going to McCain. Romney doesn’t have a chance here.

McCain? Honorable servant? I don’t consider John McCain’s politics to be honorable by any stretch of the imagination, unless a political Benedict Arnold would also a patriot.

The possibility still exists that there will be a brokered convention. If none of the current candidates go into the convention with enough delegates, anything can happen.

That was the circumstance with Chestur Arthur and his run against Winfield Hancock.

Fred Thompson was my candidate.

But he chose to be the last to come to work and the first to leave. And that is no recipe for success in any endeavor in life.

Just can’t vote for McCain, Romney, or Huckabee in the primary. I will vote for the Republican candidate in the general election.

Today I voted for Jerry Curry - retired Army general, Vietnam combat vet, strong conservative, and born-again Christian. Just wish he had more traction out there.

Write him in, if you need to.

Not here in Illinois. It would be meaningless. I'm going for Romney today. But if Fred does well in Tennessee I'll reconsider him. But I have to say, I am disappointed in the way he ran his campaign, and will have to think long and hard before I change back. Once burned, and all that. He's right on the issues, but wrong on tactics.

I fully intend to write Fred’s name in.

Don’t lecture me about the lost vote, folks. The more we compromise, the more we lose our soul. It’s time to get back to conservatism, and you don’t do that by voting more and more to the left.

People used to say Fred was lazy. Now he's a quitter, and this time there's no arguing that.

Generals are supposed to lead their army, not the reverse.

I supported Fred from the beginning, I sent more money to him than anyone in my life.

I implore Fred Heads...

PLEASE

Vote for Romney. Conservatism is *hanging by a thread*

This is no time for foolish dreaming.

Fred isn’t even voting for Fred!

He had his shot, he failed.

We have to support Romney.

Please see the logic in this.

It is simply political reality, and the vast majority of Fred supporters are doing this.

If Fred is interested in VP, he is there to be asked.

Precisely.

It is sad that even conservatives, who know better, buy into lies propagated by the MSM (e.g., lazy campaign, B.S. I see repeated even on this thread) about Fred and his his campaign.

Do what Ronald Reagan said to do: vote for the most conservative person.

Even if “Fred has no chance” it sends the message that we have left Uncle Karl Rove’s plantation.

Unfortunately he dropped out.

We will not take the chance that McCain will be a winner because we did not vote for Romney.

We will NEVER vote for McCain.

We have no way of knowing how he ran his campaign once he got in. We have no access to the raw schedule; all we have is press reports of it. I won’t vote for him today because Romney is the only vote to allow a brokered convention, but consider; Fred had committed to help Paul Harvey, who was ill, and had appeared in all those first-run L&O episodes which could not run if he declared.
I personally think the campaign is obscenely long and would rather see it compressed back to the year before election day.

I really wanted Fred for President. Donated to his campaign and all.

The problem is, Fred didn't act like he wanted to be President. As the popular saying went, there was no "fire in the belly." And in the end, Fred's was the most lackluster campaign since John Anderson ran against Carter and Reagan in 1980.

Sorry...I wanted Fred, but it didn't seem that Fred wanted Fred.
